Hi Guys,
I live near to Sheffield in the United Kingdom. I found Bariatric Pal by accident really, I was just surfing around and stumbled over it.
I decided to have the Gastric Sleeve when my weight reached 24 stone and I lost my mother who suffered the loss of eyesight and the loss of several toes due to type 2 diabetes, which I suffer from.
The good and the bad re the sleeve operation, the good - everything from attending weight loss classes, to waking up after the surgery. The bad, constipation - that's all. I went to Hospital for 7am where I just sat on the bed in my "operation clothes".
A lady went down before me, and I was called at 9am for my procedure. I came round in HDU with my wife holding my hand (as they do) with little pain at all to be honest. I had bed rest that day, but I was UP early the next morning. I showered, brushed my teeth and put on my own day clothes, light weight trousers and a clean shirt. My nurse then appeared with my Hospital long white stockings, which I put on, on my own with out any help. These long tight stockings are to help reduce the chance of blood clots I was informed - and to be worn for 6 weeks.
By 10 am that morning I was walking around the corridors having a good look around, I must be very nosey I suppose. Any how to bring this story towards the end, I was in Hospital Monday at 6 am, by Tuesday the next day I was at home at 3.15 pm having a cup of coffee. What a result.
Since leaving Hospital on Tuesday the 18 th November 2014 up to to-day I have lost over three and a half stones. Oh I forgot to say, in the ten days leading up to my surgery I was on the milk and yoghurt diet, where I lost a stone, so in total I have shed four and a half stone, and feel better now than I have done for years.
As regarding "pain" none whatsoever, but I did feel a little uncomfortable on my right side for about two days, due to the gas which is used to inflate your stomach during the operation, but it disappeared on it's own without any kind of treatment.
So to bring my journey to it's end, any one out there who is thinking or waiting for their laparoscopic bariatric sleeve, please don't worry - it's a piece of cake with a great outcome.
