I really do not know if all was allowed. That is why I have a CPA. I give him lists of medical proceedures/items/milage...etc Everything I have documentation on-- He takes it from there. He has been our CPA for 20 yrs. How interesting about your medical deductions. Dawn who just discovered her weight loss has been hindered by processed flour of any kind...no longer in my menues...not even crackers. Boy do I feel better.

I claimed it all. As long as I had the proof, my CPA was happy. Dawn in AZ:thumbup:

I paid $16,000.00. After the first year, it was $100.00 per visit--Usually for a fill. I only had one fill. The first year I did really well and didn't need a fill....it was in the 2nd year I got the fill --I had a heck of a time...and had to get an unfill 30 days later.....Never went back Dawn in AZ

I did well the first year....Then had to get my first fill. It was too much, did an unfill and haven't been back. I attended the suport groups for a little while, but found them lacking. Too many RnY's at that time, so I stopped. I continue to go at a slow pace. Exersize and diabetic diet-Glycemic Load. The older I get, ther harder it is to lose. No Boob or Tucks... I have managed to inspire a friend of mine to take the "plunge." She has watched me stay healthy all these years. Now it is her turn. I paid for mine-these past years. I read that Tricare is willing to pay...(too late- cost me 16K). In the meantime, my own family has been in crises for more than two years. My husband has been diagnosed with Alzheimer and then had a small stroke three months ago-he also is diabetic and visually and hearing impaired. Being a caregiver is not what I expected. It has not been pleasant...Which is why I have rebuilt my Exercise room in my livingroom. I am not sorry I had the surgury...I am more than pleased with my own health...would like to dump the rest of my goal--and just be there:c) I have very few problems, as long as I do not get too upset with family situations or don't chew my food enough. I have pretty much given up several foods, so I don't have to deal with the digestive problems. I have never gone back to drinking any carbonated drinks...still just coffee, Water, and tea. I'm well past 65 and would recommend this procedure to anyone who is serious. And, I still watch the Biggest Losers..very inspirational. Dawn in great weather AZ

Even after two years, I cannot digest red meat, very well--we eat very little of it now. I am turning into a chicken or fish... Lot of Veggies and fresh fruit, yogarts...After all this time, I am just now starting to introduce whole wheat/grains back into my diet. My stomach doesn't do well with any breads, either. Did find potatoe substitutes...Sun Chokes or pureed Cauliflower. I cook a lot of stews and soups--family likes them. Still do not eat pastas of any kind. My Cholesteral went from 209 down to 121...that was a nice surprise. Good luck Dawn in AZ

I still haven't gotten the hang of this message board.... I had my port righted the 28th of Aug...and six stiches removed a couple of days ago. Thanks to those who posted. It made me feel a lot more comfortable about going in a second time. I had a little discomfort for the first 24 hrs...and very little since then. I asked about a fill. Dr. said I didn't need one, yet. My anniversary date is 9/21/05...So, I will see what he thinks, when I see him in Dec. He said I was doing well and that the original surgery was still perfect and to quit being so hard on myself. I am going back to biking and working my way back to 10K steps. BWG:clap2:

I have no complaints about what I paid....even if it was a year ago-it's what I needed and wanted. Yup, I am about to have my 1st anniversary---I feel great, look great and am toodling along on my weight loss... Can't wait for the 2nd anniversary to see how much more I have lost--probably be at target weight. Gone from a size 24 down to a 14/16....:clap2:

After nearly a year since my procedure, I went in for weigh-in and visit. At the weigh-in the nurse said I had gained five pounds--and needed a fill. My port was turned. My Doc tried to turn it over and was not able too. While I have been lucky not to need fills, I decided to take his suggestion and will have it righted--later in August... Somewhere down the line I will probably need it, anyway. [/url] BTW, it turned out to be Fluid retention (I had been traveling and was still recovering from bad fluid's intake and jet-lag), I wee- wee'd five pounds off that very night....go figure. So, I am merrily back to my schedule/routine and content with every penny I spent.

Does LapBand Do Damage/Dent Stomach After A Certain Amount of Time?
dawn5798 replied to ItsGottaGo!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lap-Banding has been around a number of years, outside the U.S. Sort of like RK, years ago. Took the U.S. a long time to approve either of them. Glad they did. My proceedure is too new to tell, but suspect I did more damage, before surgery....BWG dawn in hot AZ -
I understood she had it done sometime back....and, I didn't get it from a check-out rag. So, what's the big deal? We did it...and lots of others have done it. :c) And, don't we feel and look better for it! Still Peddling at 31 sustained mph....Yeah!

Mine was 16K with one year of fills and support. Dr. Simpson ...So far I have attended at least one support group a month and no fills. Bike 30-35 mph, 30 mins. at a time and walk 2 miles in 30 minutes....daily. As time permits, 300 rebounds. went from size 24 down to 16.

As my hubby said "Pretend it is the electric car you are never going to get." I paid 100% of my proceedure. Four months old...no fills and going strong. 60 lbs gone....65 to go.
