I'm 57 and was banded 12-3. I'm REALLY happy with my band . . . and am now anxiously awaiting my second fill because I'm starting to have to really yell at myself to STOP eating lol . . . I'm feeling better . . . I'm moving better (except my arthritis in my back) . . . and I was getting to the point where I thought I wasn't going to be able to even stand up and not walk with a cane anymore. I wouldn't trade this band for anything! Good luck to all!

I got my hospital bill breakdown yesterday (2-22). My total bill was $37,044, the discounted amount was $23,897 so the total the insurance had to pay was $13,147. Good grief! That doesn't include the doctor. He had told us that if we were self pay it would be $17,000. I'm assuming my "prostheses" is my actual band . . . cost $9,885, with an insurance payment of $3,508 after discount.
Then today I get another breakdown that says they can't submit payment until they have the provider's name and address . . . OMG . . . they've already approved all this . . . IDIOTS

Way to go Cerrin! I'm so jealous!

I'm down about 50pounds..4th July coming soon, meeting family which I havent seen about year. We going to Las Vegas... so I'll be able to show off my new self =)
I want to be down atleast 30 more pounds before seeing them. That only 6 pounds a month??? I can do that.. lol
Of course you can do it Ant! You've been doing wonderfully anyway . . . 6 lbs a month for you should be NO PROBLEM . . . and if you are a couple lbs shy of your goal . . .just stand outside in an asphalt parking lot for 10 minutes in Vegas in July . . . you'll melt away with no problem! Great job! Keep it up.
(I remember walking across a parking lot there once, and the bottoms of my sandals were melting and sticking to the ground .. . ughhhhh).

Glorybee . . . yes . . . I had the same thing happen. It was like almost 3 weeks before there was movement on the scale - but I was losing inches. Just keep on track - it will move again. It's just hard to not see it move! Hang in there!

Oh Cerrin . . . how FUN! I don't really have any advice - because I've only done a small weekend cruise like 10 years ago .. . I'm going to Alaska in May and am really excited . . . I'm crocheting hats and scarves now for me and my friend so we can be out watching the glaciers  Where are you going, and for how long? You will LOVE it!

Oh Fanny . . . what a GREAT NSV!

JohnC and McMadame . . . I have been FAT for 25 years at least . . .and had the high blood pressure and high cholesteral and pre diabetic . . . with joint pain and back pain . . . I could NOT have lost the 45 lbs I have without the aid of this band . . . I was walking with a cane last May . . . and now it sits in my trunk and hasn't been out for 2 months . . . I'm getting my life back . . . and can't say loud enough that "I LOVE MY BAND!" Give it some serious consideration. I'm 57 and thought I was about ready to cash life in totally - now I'm back to enjoying so much more.
Best of luck!

I lost 45 lbs . . . BUT that includes 14 lbs pre-op which I started Nov 19, 2007. Maybe the person who lost over 80 started their pre-op early? If NOT . . .HOW DID YOU DO IT?
-
I kinda went through the same thing at about the same time frame after surgery. Just keep doing the right thing, and it will start moving again .. . I HATE waiting .. . I want to see results every day lol Hang in there . . you're doing GREAT!
-
OK . . . you have an EXCELLENT memory and have been lurking a lot .. . and not posting! Welcome back . . . and I sure hope to be down another 20 lbs by then . . . (I'd like to say more, but I'm TRYING to be a little realistic). I'll go shopping the beginning of May . . . that should be safe I hope

You have a GREAT memory . . . yup . . . he denied me on my first time in also. I have to go in monthly whether I get a fill or not . . . so far I don't have to pay for the visits at least. I'm happy with how I'm losing, so I'll not complain . . . I think everyone just wishes it would be faster  You're doing a great job too! Way to go!
-
:sad:Well I'm still "maintaining" with my 1.5cc in my 10cc band . . . because I lost 10 lbs during the last month and he likes that pace. I'm definitely getting a fill on March 13 though. He also wants me to eat more solid foods . . . fish, turkey, chicken . . . so that is my "assignment" for this month . . . he is still hung up on counting bites before I'm full . . . ughhhhh Ok . . . if that is what he wants - I shall comply.

Kandiceb - so close and yet so far! I'm on the Westerdam on May 11, doing Glacier Bay, Juneau, Sitka and Ketchikan. I sure hope you love your trip - I can't WAIT!

thank you everyone! This IS getting exciting . . .my DIL gave me some capri's she had after her last baby . . . and I ZIPPED THEM UP last night . . . they are a size 20 . . . OMG I can't even REMEMBER when I wore that size! :scared2: Baby steps . . . but how good they feel!

Great job Destiny! Big difference! :scared2:
Hope you're getting jump started today Steph!
I'm sick as a dog (caught the cold my grandkids have AGAIN) . . . but have to go into work . . . it's busy season . . .and we have one on vacation (figure that out!) Oh well .. .I'll drug myself up and go sit in my corner and get through the day!
Have a great day everyone!

How did the fill go Steph? Is it helping? :smile2:

I go in spirts with feeling the cold . . . and the doctor said most WL patients have the same complaint. There are times I have on my heavy pj's, socks, heavy robe, one or two afghans and GLOVES when I'm sitting watching TV at night . . . it seems to happen mostly when I'm losing. When I'm at a plateau, it isn't so bad.
-
I have a LOT to lose . . . but I'm not thinking about it as being overwhelming . . . I've just readjusted my life . . . and as with any journey, it starts with one foot in front of the other . . . and keep moving  I still have so far to go . . . but my daughter (bless her heart) said the other day . . . "mom - in a few more pounds you'll be 1/3 of the way to goal" . . . it's something I never even thought about . . . and it perked me right up  Even on the days when I go up a couple pounds on the scale, I know it's going to come off again shortly, and as long as I stay on course and do what I'm supposed to, it can't help but keep inching down the scale.< /p>
Enjoy your journey . . . there is a better YOU at the end of it . . . and even along the way for that matter!

Hi Buddy .. . I'm here . . . I'm so busy at work, I seldom get on during the days . . . and I'm exhausted at night with the pandamonium from my two grandkids around here that I either grab my stuff and go to the pool to exercise (didn't do it at all this week) . . . or I go hide in my bedroom and shut the world out by closing the door . . .which my cats don't like at all . . . I've been up since 4 am with the screaming grandson again . . . I need a NAP!
The scale still does it's thing . . . but I realize that when I get a "sneak peek" at a number, it usually shows up and stays within the next two days. I don't really have room for plywood in there either . . . it is a TINY little space . . . but I'm still slowly going down . . . I have a hunch I won't get a fill on Thursday because he like to keep things at 1-2 lbs a week . . .and I'm definitely doing that . . . sooooo . . . I'll see what he says. Just had my fitness class at the beach today . . . it's a once a month requirement the doctor's office pays for . . . well we paid $300 up front before the surgery for all the post op stuff . . . but it's a good group of people . . . all patients of the same surgeon . . . and most of them are at the support groups too . . . so we are networking and watching each other on our journeys . . . we are both bypass and lapband . . . and man did one lady have an attitude today . . . she wasn't going to move one hand or one foot any more than 2 inches . . . so why come? ughhhh.
Have a good one everyone!

My blood pressure meds have been cut in half, and next time I go to the PCP for blood work we'll think about cutting or eliminating my cholestoral meds . . . with my weight loss I've been able to leave the cane I was using back in May in my car permanently . . .and my knee, hip and back have been oh so much better! Before the surgery I was having trouble just standing up and sitting down . . . no fun. I think the weight loss has definitely helped all these issues . . . YEA!
