Hang in there Cerrin . . . you KNOW if you do the right stuff, it HAS to start moving at some point . . . I've had a slow month too . . . but I have to believe it will start moving more soon! I even took my 3 month pics this weekend . . . and couldn't see a difference at all . . .so I didn't post them - but I have them!

Itchy scratchy incisions?
christasha replied to Mom2_4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
mine itched FOREVER . . . and several people I talked to at support groups said the same thing . . . it's the healing process. I am allergic to adhesive . . . and they didn't use any one me . . . so it was just the healing process. Hang in there . . .it take awhile - but it will get better! -
I'm a tummy sleeper too . . . and I think about a week out I was back on my tummy . . . no problems! I think you're safe

Poor Kitty Cerrin . . . but YEA FOR YOU!!!!! That has to be the BEST DAMN FEELING! I've been pretty much stalled all month . . . but was able to put on some 20 capri's my dil had . . . that ZIP and BUTTON instead of elastic . . . that is HUGE for me . . . (just wish I didn't hate capris!) I'm going on a cruise to Alaska in May . . . and my mom just shipped me a vest she had . . . its beautiful tan suede . . . and I can wear it like it is . . . BUT I now have motivation to get busy losing again because I WANT to be able to zip it . . . not just have it handing loose. All these NSVs are great everyone! Keep them coming!

I've only had one fill (banded 12-3) and it was for 1.5cc. I'm really ready for another one but have to wait until 3-13. However, even though I'm hungry and have to control myself without the aid of the band, I would try not to eat a huge amount of food at any one sitting. While the band isn't helping all that much so far, I don't want to jeopardize it by way overfilling it. I was also told I couldn't have steak for a year after banding because of the fibers . . . and I won't even try rice because of all the people that get stuck on it. You have to help yourself with your choices while waiting for the right fill to get to your sweet spot . . . it isn't fun . . . but I've been through too much to ignore the basic rules. Take a deep breath and just jump back on that band wagon! That's the cool part about the band . . . you CAN jump back on and start over! Yea! Good luck! - Chris

This can definitely be done! I wasn't quite 50BMI . . . but darn close. I'm 57 and I had surgery 12-3, and I've lost 46 lbs (including the two week preop diet) since then. My knees are better, my hip, my back . . . I'm not walking with a cane the way I was in May . . . and I'm going to keep on this program . . . the best thing I EVER did! You can do it! Best of luck! Received Insurance Bill breakdown
christasha replied to christasha's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's unbelievable what goes on! There is a lady on another forum who offers to help with insurance problems if you have them . . . she used to work insurance . . . so let me know if you need her! -
That's GREAT you don't have to wait the 3 weeks . . .like I do . . . ughhhh . . . I'm not being good and I'm hungry . . . and I tweeked my back, so exercising isn't sounding thrilling to me either . . . but I'm doing water aerobics anyway . . . just not as often. This too shall pass?

Received Insurance Bill breakdown
christasha replied to christasha's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You would THINK there would be some charges that are standard no matter where you are . . . but I guess not. I sure don't know how all of this works . . .and I'm glad I don't have to figure it out and my insurance covered it all . . . but omg what a racket to "inflate" costs, then discount them and then come up with what the insurance should pay . . . yikes! -
My blood pressure meds have been cut in half, and next time I go to the PCP for blood work we'll think about cutting or eliminating my cholestoral meds . . . with my weight loss I've been able to leave the cane I was using back in May in my car permanently . . .and my knee, hip and back have been oh so much better! Before the surgery I was having trouble just standing up and sitting down . . . no fun. I think the weight loss has definitely helped all these issues . . . YEA!

I'm 57 and was banded 12-3. I'm REALLY happy with my band . . . and am now anxiously awaiting my second fill because I'm starting to have to really yell at myself to STOP eating lol . . . I'm feeling better . . . I'm moving better (except my arthritis in my back) . . . and I was getting to the point where I thought I wasn't going to be able to even stand up and not walk with a cane anymore. I wouldn't trade this band for anything! Good luck to all!

:sad:Well I'm still "maintaining" with my 1.5cc in my 10cc band . . . because I lost 10 lbs during the last month and he likes that pace. I'm definitely getting a fill on March 13 though. He also wants me to eat more solid foods . . . fish, turkey, chicken . . . so that is my "assignment" for this month . . . he is still hung up on counting bites before I'm full . . . ughhhhh Ok . . . if that is what he wants - I shall comply.

Of course you can do it Ant! You've been doing wonderfully anyway . . . 6 lbs a month for you should be NO PROBLEM . . . and if you are a couple lbs shy of your goal . . .just stand outside in an asphalt parking lot for 10 minutes in Vegas in July . . . you'll melt away with no problem! Great job! Keep it up. (I remember walking across a parking lot there once, and the bottoms of my sandals were melting and sticking to the ground .. . ughhhhh). -
How is weight loss for people over 50?
christasha replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Glorybee . . . yes . . . I had the same thing happen. It was like almost 3 weeks before there was movement on the scale - but I was losing inches. Just keep on track - it will move again. It's just hard to not see it move! Hang in there! -

Oh Cerrin . . . how FUN! I don't really have any advice - because I've only done a small weekend cruise like 10 years ago .. . I'm going to Alaska in May and am really excited . . . I'm crocheting hats and scarves now for me and my friend so we can be out watching the glaciers  Where are you going, and for how long? You will LOVE it! -
Oh Fanny . . . what a GREAT NSV!

christasha replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
JohnC and McMadame . . . I have been FAT for 25 years at least . . .and had the high blood pressure and high cholesteral and pre diabetic . . . with joint pain and back pain . . . I could NOT have lost the 45 lbs I have without the aid of this band . . . I was walking with a cane last May . . . and now it sits in my trunk and hasn't been out for 2 months . . . I'm getting my life back . . . and can't say loud enough that "I LOVE MY BAND!" Give it some serious consideration. I'm 57 and thought I was about ready to cash life in totally - now I'm back to enjoying so much more. Best of luck! Chris -

2 month post-op progress
christasha replied to Fanny Adams's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I lost 45 lbs . . . BUT that includes 14 lbs pre-op which I started Nov 19, 2007. Maybe the person who lost over 80 started their pre-op early? If NOT . . .HOW DID YOU DO IT? -
I kinda went through the same thing at about the same time frame after surgery. Just keep doing the right thing, and it will start moving again .. . I HATE waiting .. . I want to see results every day lol Hang in there . . you're doing GREAT!
-
OK . . . you have an EXCELLENT memory and have been lurking a lot .. . and not posting! Welcome back . . . and I sure hope to be down another 20 lbs by then . . . (I'd like to say more, but I'm TRYING to be a little realistic). I'll go shopping the beginning of May . . . that should be safe I hope
-
You have a GREAT memory . . . yup . . . he denied me on my first time in also. I have to go in monthly whether I get a fill or not . . . so far I don't have to pay for the visits at least. I'm happy with how I'm losing, so I'll not complain . . . I think everyone just wishes it would be faster  You're doing a great job too! Way to go!
