    Quit Smoking and gaining!!!

    I was told at my preop appointments that I had to be off nicotine 2 months before my doctor would operate . . . AND cafine and carbonation . . . so I quit all 3 cold turkey on that day . . . because I WANTED this surgery .. . and I had it exactly 2 months later . . . I won't say it wasn't hard . . . but I wanted the surgery more than I wanted those things . . . it is something I had to do for me . . .and I white knuckled through it . . . I didn't even go to the patches because that would still have nicotine in my system . . . and I was told they would test for the nicotine before surgery . . .so . . . it's a matter of do it or else for me. Good luck . . . and oh . . . that was October 3rd I quit . . . and haven't gone back :wub:
  2. How old are your kids? If they are really young, it isn't necessary - and they won't even remember when they get bigger. If they are teenagers . . . they will know something is up. I guess it depends on how old they are.

    Hi Erin . . . I was banded 12-3 by Dr. Mueller . . . you should come to the support groups the first 2 Mondays . . . and the Fitness Without Walls is kinda cool too . . . great networking places . . . hope you continue to do great! I have 1.5cc in my 10cc band . . . had to cancel my fill appointment on the 13th and am waiting now for 4-3 . . . Good luck! Keep in touch. I'm in Chula Vista. Chris

    low carbing it? come join me

    I'm in . . . I've been going nowhere . . . and been looking at all the goodies my family brings in the house (can't WAIT until they move out in May!) . . . B - Blueberry yogurt S - Balance "Carb Well" Protein bar L - 1/4 c egg salad, 1/4 cup pineapple cottage cheese, 1 cheese stick S - EAS strawberry low carb Protein Drink D - going to be part of a tuna steak poached in chicken broth, and steamed veggies Good luck everyone!
  5. Thanks! I'll enjoy it for sure! The weight has stalled . . . so maybe I can shop soon . . . just don't want to spend a lot on stuff that won't fit in 3 months lol.

OMG I am going with my friend on an Alaskan cruise in May - and I'm thinking "WT#$%#$% am I going to wear!" . . . there are 2 formal nights . . . and I don't DARE shop before the beginning of May or whatever I get won't fit . . . who know what size I might be by then! (much smaller I HOPE). just had to share . . . this should be interesting!

    3 Month update and Goal

    Cerrin . . . I was doing water aerobics . . . but since last week I've been hurting more than usual for a long time . . . I think I'm going tonight . . . I just have to tone it down .. .which I hate because I go at everything full tilt! I'll just work my arms like crazy and my left leg . . . the other will be my science project to show what happens when you move . . .and when you don't move! Fanny . . . you're doing great too! Hang in there!

    3 Month update and Goal

    Thank you . . . but to be honest . . . I'm back to 47 right now . . . but I refuse to change my ticker . . . and I don't know if you recall - but 14 of my loss is from my pre-op. I lost it, so I count it :thumbup: I'm just craving sugar and I didn't do that for 2 months! The cafine and nicotine don't bother me (not having them). . . but suddenly the sugar is almost out of control with cravings! Deep breath - and count to 10 . . . and start all over again!

    3 Month update and Goal

    Well I had to cancel my fill appointment last week . . . and now have to wait until April 3 . . . ughhhh . . . I'm not going anywhere either . . . and with very little effort I can put lbs back on . . . don't like that at ALL! Hang in there everyone! We have to start moving downward at some point! I also tweeked my hip again . . . turned funny when I was shopping at WalMart this weekend . . . and then had to use my cane yesterday . . . that is SO not cool . . . and SO not good for any exercise plans!

    Hi Kserafin - we are just about the same. I was banded 12-3, I'm 57, and I've lost 48-50 lbs - depending on the day and time I don't have the gas problem - but I'm having a bad time keeping myself on track at the moment . . . hope you keep up the great work! Chris

    Hair loss

    I THINK loss of hair is tied to lack of protein .. . and sometimes to results of anesthesia . . . the B12 wouldn't have anything to do with hair loss as far as I know. There are other posts that have discussed it . . . but I don't remember where . . . we have one girl in our support group that wears wigs . . . because she didn't do all the protein she needed to do after surgery and literally lost 90% of her hair. It's coming back, but she still is wearing the wigs for the time being.

    Afraid to get first fill

    I canceled my fill for tomorrow (3-13) - seems I have to go to Disneyland instead with my BFF who is having a really tough time . . . so my next appointment is a month away again - I'll survive! Actually, considering I only have 1.5 cc in my 10cc band, I'm doing ok . . .

    Hang in there Cerrin . . . you are doing GREAT! I'm different at night by about 3-4 lbs too . . . but I LOVE mornings :huh2:

    I've got 1.5 cc in my 10cc band . . . which I got about 6 weeks ago . . . I'm not honestly STARVING . . . but night time I'm much hungrier than I would like to be . . .

    I'm doing OK Cerrin . . . have an appointment for "possible" fill on Thursday . . . but knowing Dr. Stingy . . . we joke because he doesn't give fills often to anyone in our group . . . we shall see. I'm feeling slow and steady - not as dramatic as some . . . but it's still moving downward. Yea!

    First Stuck/Slime/PB Episode

    Well idiot me started out the morning with getting stuck on my egg and cheese omlette . . . AGAIN (I don't learn well) . . . . after 3 bites. Well fine . . . I get home . . . and take my almost 3 year old granddaughter to the zoo . . . and DUH ME . . . forgot all about the morning . . . and ordered some carnitas (pulled pork) by itself when I got her a kids meal . . . and after 2 bites I'm going "oh crap" . . . have no clue where the bathroom is from where I am . . . have my granddaughter . . . so I'm pointing to the elephants (how appropriate) and telling her to look there . . . while I'm turning around into the bushes . . . ughhhhh . . . ok . . .I'm on liquids . . . I REMEMBER now!

    Oh Ant . . . you are going to be having a swarm of honeys around you soon! You are doing great! My daughter pointed out to me that in just a few lbs, I'll be 1/3 of the way done . . . OMG that sounds unbelievable! Whatever our "strategies" . . . its good to know everyone is still going DOWN! :drool:

    I'm going to just keep on crawling along as I am . . . I am NOT about to write all my food down . . . it drives me crazy . . . but that's just me. Same thing with the Bodybug . . . I'm just doing my thing . . . keeping to the band rules . . . getting to Water aerobics 3-4 times a week . . . and hope things keep moving on. I am hoping for my second fill on the 13th . . . I NEED IT! Good Luck everyone!
