I had my lap band 3 yrs ago. Noncompliant in about every way possible. Is it possible to start over again? Any help would be appreciated.

I can eat just about anything. I had a fill once but I think he took it back out. Haven't been back to the DR in 18 months because his bedside manner was horrible. When I asked questions he answered by telling me to be quiet and let him be the Dr. I gave up. Didn't even tell anyone I had the surgery. I read of so many who had good experiences. I am thinking about trying another Dr and giving it a go again. Far as I know the band is still where it is suppose to be.

please count me in too. I really need help staying on track and not getting depressed, When I read of other's successes I feel like I must be one of the lap band failures. I think a slow losers club is a great idea. ladyfox

For me, the shoulder pain comes when ever I eat too fast or eat things I should not eat-- like bread. It is a referred pain. It is pain caused by eating, but felt in the shoulder.... something about the stomach affecting nerves around it. I can't explain it well, but it is not gas pain. Watch what you eat and see if it is not your body talking to you. good luck! ladyfox

Dear mercedes, I was banded in June, just had my first fill 2 weeks ago. I STILL eat too fast. I think I will work on that problem all my life. I have tested every boundary. I am still able to swallow whole tablets, including big vitamins. i can eat nuts, breads, pasta....pretty much anything. I wish I had the negative reinforcement that comes to some. Even binges come at times.... but the quantity is less.....only the guilt is the same as pre surgery. I just start each week trying to do better than I did last week. I have lost 40 but its a slow go. I hope in time my head and my stomach will be in tune and I will eat like a thin person! ladyfox

Inquiry on Dr. Richard Carter in Arlington, TX
ladyfox replied to a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had my band done by Dr Carter in June. He seems very competent. Biggest complaint I had was that he did not order any pain med at all after surgery... he sends you home on phenergan for nausea and toradol which is an antiinflammatory. I hurt like hell for 4 days. I have been back for the first fill.....again, he explains what he is doing, which is wonderful, but he does get impatient with too many questions. I am glad I had it done but if I had it to do over, I would make sure I had some liquid lortab in my home for the post op days. Ladyfox -

Dear Corinne, I need the encouragement and support too, so count me in. It is so easy to NOT exercise. I am taking your challenge starting today. ladyfox

Dear Judy, I took 9 days off and then headed back to work. I felt really bad the first 4 days and on the 5th I was human again and able to get much more active. I think I just don't tolerate pain well. My physician did not order any pain med- only toradol and phenergan. I think that was a mistake. Good luck to you. Let us know how you do.
