FRUSTRATING-1 month post op- not loosing weight
uni2424 replied to dalysm86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 months out and have only lost 27 pounds. I didn't really start losing until 6 weeks out. It was very, very frustrating. Then I have to tell myself, I have never lost 27 pounds in 3 months on the other thousand weight loss programs I have tried and I know this is weight that I will not see again! No regrets!! -
Tell me about unflavored protein powder?
uni2424 replied to Bndtoslv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I add it to my oatmeal in the morning. Remember with Protein powder to add it to cooked foods after you have cooked them or it will break down what you need. -
Has anyone had a sleeve *and* a c-section in their life?
uni2424 replied to Menelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeve was easier, I had more mobility! I would do either one of them over again! 3 Months out from sleeve and 7 years out from C-section who remembers that discomfort at this point! -
Post-op periods
uni2424 replied to Stephanie Stroup McIntosh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had 3 periods since surgery. They went from 2 heavy days prior to surgery to 5 heavy days now. The cramping is awful!! I assume it is normal since the doctor asks about it on my follow-up appointment paperwork. My weight loss has been super slow but always lose a couple of pounds after period is over. -
8 days post op and no weight loss
uni2424 replied to Kennedy666's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost 20lbs total and 7 of that is pre-op. I am six weeks out. It can be very frustrating! I know math and I know that I am burning off more than I am taking in so my body will catch up eventually. I can barely finish a meal! Hang in there! -
STALL, STALL, STALL, STALL, STALL, STALL
uni2424 replied to TeacherMommy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My answer is probably not going to be that popular since it would not be what the doctor recommended. I am 6 weeks out tomorrow and have been at the same weight for about 4-5 weeks. Very frustrating! I quit drinking my Protein shakes and walking over the weekend and finally dropped a few more pounds. I was drinking about 100 grams of protein a day which equals about 700 calories and I was walking well over 10000 steps with 50 minutes of very active. I am not going to start back because I want to see if it will boost some more weight loss. If it does then I will gradually add back in. I am still getting protein through turkey, cheese, almonds, and chicken but not shakes. My calorie intake had dropped since dropping the shakes and adding more food has seemed to work for now! Getting enough Water in is still a problem for me- so sad since I could drink a couple of gallons per day prior to surgery! -
If I miss one day I eat a cup of low sugar oatmeal with a scoop of Miralax in it!

10 week stall? Anyone?
uni2424 replied to gabbys_mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was stalled 1 week for 3 weeks!! Very frustrating! Sometimes increasing food intake instead of decreasing helps, especially if you are exercising! -
When will I fit into smaller pants?
uni2424 replied to WendyinWI's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had the same thing going on. My stomach is still swollen-bloated at the top and I don't like anything tight on my waist but the legs of pants are very baggy! Hoping stomach and waist will catch up soon! -
How can you tell with your sleeve
uni2424 replied to Lifeafter40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I am full it feels like everything I just ate is stuck in one spot. I have to get up and walk. I tried to get in the last two bites a few times (old habits die hard) but not anymore because it takes too long to walk it out and feel relief. It also feels like I need to burp but one won't come up. -
My first month as a sleever...........
uni2424 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wanted to share my first month experience! The good, bad and TMI also!! All in all my recovery was very easy. No nausea or vomiting. I am able to eat most things by now (still haven't introduced beef or raw veggies). I don't crave many things. I am surprised at how much I can eat but still not eating much in a day. Sometimes I can eat more than others, don't really know why. When you eat too much you will know and be miserable! Walk it out! I am getting down over 100 grams of Protein per day, how you say? I add an extra scoop of unflavored Protein powder to my Advocare Protein Drink so I am getting 54 grams in 1 shake and I am drinking 2 of those per day most days. I am walking a lot! Get a Fitbit, it really helps you get those steps in per day! I am off on Fridays and walked 7 miles that day-not all at once but there were 90 active minutes! I still cannot lift without feeling some strain so I don't do it yet! My weight was stalled for 2.5 weeks (very frustrating for a new sleever) but one morning I woke up and 5 pounds gone just like that and now a couple of more! I have not experienced dumping but I will say what I experience is more like a cleansing! There is a sense of urgency but plenty of time to find a bathroom! It is usually very welcome because it make the bloating go away! I wake up with a flat stomach (compared to what it was) but once I eat or drink anything my stomach does bloat. I am urinating so much less (which is nice) and urine is clear so I know I am still getting plenty of fluids! I have saved a lot of money not going out to eat anymore. Some of my incisions are still open but healing. I have not experienced in excessive hair loss. My first period out after surgery was long and heavy, doctor said that was normal. I have lost 20 lbs yet no one has said anything about it yet except my husband! Could be because I am still wearing the same clothes! I have a lot more energy!! The ugly is that I have been really moody, my family can attest! I don't know if this is from the changes or the building a house and current house in disarray and long work hours! Either way, my family has been very patient and I hope it goes away!! Very pleased that I did this, wish I would have done it sooner! -
Day 10 post op - scale did not go down
uni2424 replied to michellc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been stalled for a week also! I walked 5 miles each day over the weekend and have been tracking my food and activity! I wake in the morning with this nice flat stomach (I mean as flat as it can be for my weight) but as soon as a I eat or drink I bloat immediately! The frustrating part is when people ask you how much you have lost and you are still at the same loss as the last time they asked. Then you immediately feel stress or judgment, like why would you go through this if you are not losing! That is my internal voice and that voice got me fat so I am trying to bury it! -
7 weeks out. How much to eat?
uni2424 replied to ls27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks out and definitely struggling with getting my Water in. It if very frustrating because I used to drink so much every day prior to the sleeve now it not that is doesn't sit well it just feels like I don't want it. I am getting in 2 Protein shakes which is 2 bottles of water and then 1 more bottle of water with Crystal Light. My urine is still clear so I guess I am not getting dehydrated! -
Try to look at this way. What diet were you ever on that you lost 38 pounds in less that 2 months? Chances are high that it was none! I will not be that high in 2 months so I think that is great! Remember your body can change also without the scale moving. I have been stuck for a week but I can tell in my waist and back I have lost some inches. The scale just provides us validation and instant gratification, it also used to cause to fail when we weren't losing. For me, I would say why am I even trying to eat right if I am not losing weight and then I would binge! Lifelong changes!!

Had my first foaming...
uni2424 replied to kyrickchick64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How soon after you eat does it happen? -
I am 2 weeks out today and last night I turned wrong in my sleep and was yelling in pain. This morning I am really sore on my stomach and just don't feel good. I am hoping I just strained myself but has anyone had a tear at this point? I am worried I might have done something worse.

4 days post op-should I be doing more?
uni2424 replied to Tamsboyd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Walk, nap, walk, nap and maybe a load of laundry in there (my kids carried the basket for me). It was Day 7 before I had tons of energy and no need for nap. I felt so good I thought I could lift stuff, I was quickly reminded not to do that yet. I am on Day 16 and still not lifting because I immediately feel strained but I walked a couple of miles today and could have walked more if it didn't start raining! -
Gastric sleeve Dumping
uni2424 replied to sarahbeth3569's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried scrambled eggs and that did not sit well at all. I had cramping but not nausea. Once I was cleansed it was fine. I am trying to only add new foods when I am at home. -
Help! Turned wrong in my sleep.
uni2424 replied to uni2424's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone! I laid back down for a while and got back up and was feeling much better. Definitely some serious soreness but it feels like just soreness now and not like something is wrong! -
It has happened to me also randomly. I walk, walk, walk when it happens and try to make myself belch which provides some relief! Throw up, no way, not me!
-
I was sleeved March 4 also! I have only lost 7 lbs post-op. I am disappointed in that but trying to remain positive. My husband keeps telling me I look like I have lost a lot more. I am getting in over 100g Protein a day and plenty of Fluid so that is not the problem!

How hard was it to take care of your kids after?
uni2424 replied to CamberAshley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes ditto what she said, I did rest for several days but then was fine!! -
POLL: How true did you follow the pre-op liquid diet?
uni2424 replied to TealSister's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not going to lie, I didn't follow it at all. I did keep track of my calories with my Fitbit and lost 7 lbs prior to surgery. I was working 11 hours days and could not hang with all liquids! Noone every asked my about my preop diet. The doctor never said a word and I have not had any complications! I did have a lot of anxiety over not following it. Looking back I would have not worried so much! Truth! -
1 week post op protein problems....
uni2424 replied to 2bullymom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am taking my favorite Protein shake which is Advocare Mocha chocolate (24 g) and adding another scoop of unflavored protein to it (24 g). So I am getting 2 48 g shakes while I work during the day. Then I will have a small meal with protein at night. -

uni2424 replied to CamberAshley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will be fine. The only concern would be lifting but it sounds like you have an older helped. I was cleaning house and doing normal activities after a few days. Riding in the car was the hardest part for about a week, turning corners requires abs so I kept a pillow in the car to brace stomach. About day 7 I had tons of energy and that has not gone away yet!
