Surgery is scheduled for February 17, 2015 and I am counting the days and also terrified. I am 29 years old and have been over weight for the majority of my adult life. My highest weight was 248lbs right before my second child was born a year ago and after loosing 30lbs having her I started to yo yo until settling at 237lbs... Or a BMI of 35... It wasn't until the medications started piling up though that I started worrying... The hypertension that came with both of my pregnancies didn't go away after my daughter came and seemed to be getting worse. I would be dizzy, have headaches, my vision would blur, and when I finally went in it was time for a change. I started medication for hypertension and a bariatric pathway the same day. Blood was drawn, labs were done, and two months later I was diagnosed with diabetes. I had to stop nursing my baby girl to start medication. In the past six months my eating habits and level of activity have dramatically improved but the weight is hardly coming off which means it is time for the final step... It is time for VSG... So... Here is to 2015... Here is to my two beautiful children... Here is to my very supportive husband... Here is to making a change so I can see my babies grow up! Here is a healthy, happy, hopefully medication free me!
