  1. Its learning to eat slower, smaller amounts each mouth full, and giving yourself time in between swollowing. I'm still trying to train myself after 4 years, and when I forget my band reminds me. You do have to learn a different way of eating the band is there to slow you down, if you eat the same way you used to, it will respond.
  2. I understand how you are feeling! My band was fitted in June 2011, and I've now gained 33 pounds back, which I've suffered with terrible panic and feelings of failure again. But I forget just how much I'd lost. When you have the band in its all exciting and when the weight comes off you're discovering a new you...clothes etc... What I forgot and didn't really recognise until recently is my bad attitide with food, and to learn a new healthy life style, and not have my teacher (the band) shout at me when I eat too much -and suffer. I now know there's no magic wand, and the band helps restirict your quanities, but you have to do the rest, and change your habits. I think I understand it now and I'm getting over blaming the band for my failings, and to work with it! I will get these 33 pounds off this year and finish the job. I'm feeling more hopeful in myself.
  3. I've had my band in since 2011. I seem to do ok with 5mls in (its a 10 ml band) , if I have anymore in I get terrible stomach acid. Doesn't matter how small a portion I eat, or frenqueny... the acid is so bad it comes up into my mouth. I've never suffered from acid in my life even when i was very large. Has this happpened to anyone else and did you do anything to relieve it, other than medication.
  4. I've had my band in for 4 years now and lost 192 pounds. I still struggle with it, as its still teaching me how to eat properly (slower, and smaller amounts). Still working on those bad habits. But i was wondering how long does the band work for...is it just left inside you when no longer fit for purpose. That's one thing I never asked about when having it fitter.

What To Do When Food Gets Stuck?

How do you know when the food has gone through. I've had my band in for 4 years now and had the normal eating too quickly, throwing up, sliming, and Pb. But it always passes within a couple of hours. But last night I got a mega stuck......I was starving after being in accident and emergency for 6 hours with my daughter, and ate to quickly when I got home. I threw up really renching. But it still feels as though its there. Water is going down but I can hear it gurggling going down. I've got an appointment on the 2nd Jan. Hope that's not too late. I'm not sure if I've just renched my throat and its sore from last night. A bit scared to try and eat at present.
