People are judging you because your overweight? That may be a problem in real life, but they can't even see you here, this is the internet : / Not to mention, almost everyone in this forum, struggles with their weight in some way, whether they have lost it or not. I think you need to step back and breath. If anything, if your miffed about not getting instant answers to your questions, just use the search feature. This is weight loss surgery/health forum. People will ask the same questions you are asking, probably many times over.

Symptoms of a slipped band include throwing up and not even be able to swallow water. But just because your not doing that, doesn't mean you should eat chicken : / Since a slip can happen at anytime and then it's too late.
-
I'm surprised too, they told you to eat chicken at 4 days post op? x_x; That food should not even be touched until 5 to 6 weeks out minimum. The mushy stage usually starts at 2 to 3 weeks. I would go ask if you have the correct information again, as that sounds like a good way to have a slip in your band.

Your in bandster hell and really, this is something to be expected. This is healing time, not weight loss time. If you lose any weight within the first 6 weeks post surgery, consider it a plus, not something has gone wrong. Some people do not have pain after surgery ether. After your first fill, you should get some relief. Though you may need a second or a third, before the hunger pains totally stop. Just hold in there and you'll be fine.

Guess I am in lap-band hell?????
Fae replied to idababy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unfortunately, yes it is. You will be starving probably until you get to the mushy stage, where you can have things like mashed potatoes and scrambled eggs. I do stress to resist it as much as you can, until it's safe to eat real food again. Since really, you can easily rip your stitches out if you eat the wrong foods too early and you could easily lose your band entirely. Mushies start at 3 weeks usually. But some people have to wait the full six weeks, until they get a fill to stop the hunger pains. You can do this. Just remember how much you want to reach your goal and it will be worth it in the end. -
I would demand you get an endoscopy from your doctor immediately. Throwing up all the time and not even being about to swallow water is a direct sign of a slip. You need to have your band checked immediately.

Should you only eat when you get hungry?
Fae replied to ghannouge's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Your body needs a certain number of calories to function everyday, whether you want to eat or not. If you decide not to eat at all or only eat rarely, you could start causing yourself problems. Don't drop below the recommended calorie intake your doctor recommends. I hear for most people on the board, it's about 1200 to 1500. -
Which band = pounds lost
Fae replied to bashful1269's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been on this board for a few months now. Personally from what I have read, people have had success with both bands. So in a way, your doctor is right, they are both good. I choose the lap band because I could have a small amount of fill in it immediately, so going through the full liquid stage would not be so difficult. But really, I'm glad I choose it anyway. It has worked great for me. -
A lot of people are scared when it comes to surgery. I know I am one of them. But I went through it and came out fine. Just follow what your doctor tells you to do before surgery and you should be just fine.

What kind of bowel prep have y'all had to do?
Fae replied to Who'sThere's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only had to drink one small bottle of something that tasted like a mixture of lemon juice/salt. They recommended two bottles, but one was quite enough. It cleared out everything and I do mean everything. 14 does of miralax? They have got to be kidding >>;; -
While I can't say I have been where you are, I have heard many times that there is self assurance in your partner being also heavy like you. When you start to be thin and they are still overweight, they lose that security blanket that it was okay to be heavy in the first place. You fixed your problem, therefore you are saying indirectly that them looking the way they do is wrong. The daily rituals of eating together and enduring the problem together are also gone as well. This will of course cause conflicts and may even lead to the end of the relationship. It takes a strong couple to endure something like it.

While most reactions to my band are positive, it's usually the people that are jealous and want a band themselves that I get the most negative reactions too. Still, I much rather have people think I cheated then go with the absolute definition of insanity, which would be dieting over and over again : /

Poll: How long after a fill do you feel restriction?
Fae replied to newdicarlo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I feel a fill the second they put they inject me with the needle. There is a definately tightening around the band for me and I also my restriction level goes up as well when I eat. I think this maybe the exception to the rule however since I'm rather sensitive xD; -
My fill nurse says as long as nothing is going wrong with your stomach, it's okay to have solids after a fill. For example, throwing up or anything. But I do wonder why you are drinking soda, since that will cause damage to your pouch whether you have a new fill or not : /

A Question For the Girls--Men, You've Ben Warned
Fae replied to ALuv82's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Massive weight loss can make your period cycles go wacky. After I lost about 50 pounds, everything went haywire. I was bleeding for two or three weeks straight. As I got to goal, everything straightened out. You just need to give your body time to readjust. There is just a hump you need to get over first xD -
I think the smallest I ever was as a child was a 12. Still, I'm almost down to a 6 after my weight loss. Really, unless you have a ton of loose skin that is keeping you from being small, there is nothing stopping you from wearing a small size. I'm living proof of that.

Why would first BF contact me after so many years?
Fae replied to betrthnever's topic in The Gals' Room
Marriages fall apart and people can be lonely even when they are married ^^; But yeah, I missed the part he was married too xD; But good for you, your happier now and you don't need someone like that in your life : ) -
Why would first BF contact me after so many years?
Fae replied to betrthnever's topic in The Gals' Room
He sounds lonely and yes, he probably is looking for sex. He has nobody at the moment and your the best thing he has in front of him, even if your taken now. I would tell him to get lost. And if he doesn't leave you alone afterward, call the police. People like that can be creepy. -
Personally, I think your right. Even if your boyfriend ate very small portions or only once a day, he should not throw up every day. It's likely he is too tight or has already had a slip, which will eventually lead to band removal. If he loses the band, he'll gain his weight back more than likely. Just that fact alone, should get him to see a doctor or go back to his surgeon. Explaining it to him in this way might help change his mind, but you know him best.

Hair loss????? How to make it stop???
Fae replied to sdeale0928's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Around 7 or 8 months out, I noticed more and more hair falling out. Then around the 9th month, it stopped. Now before the band, I had thick curly hair. Now it is much thinner and if I use a straightener, my hair looks like it never had curl at all. The whole texture of my hair changed, but I did not become balled. I think you just need to wait it out. My surgeon says your body does through a shock a few months out after surgery, then returns to normal. It seems that is what mine did. I also take Biotin and a lot of different vitamin chewables as well. Getting in your protein helps too. -
You could just not tell them you have a band and just go from there. They train you for exercise, they do not really get into what you eat. Unless your looking for someone that is kind of like a nutritionist and trainer?

The night before the surgery I couldn't sleep and then that morning I became terrified of dying on the operating table. I was so glad when they finally gave me the drugs to knock me out before the surgery. I was literally a bundle of nerves. It was completely irrational though. I came out of surgery fine and I'm very glad I did it.

How to deal with unsupportive friends/family
Fae replied to Deekel's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Funny how things work out. When I first became interested in the surgery, my father passed it off as some sort of scam and didn't even want to go to the seminar with me. He thought it was some kind of thing I saw on TV as an infomercial : / But after he went, he started to turn around. When the weight started to come off after I had the surgery, then he really believed. You can change people's opinions, but sometimes it takes some coaxing. -
This is rather funny, because it wasn't until after my surgery that I realized I had a sleeping problem. Whenever I asked the doctor why I was so tired all the time, they would tell me it was because I was heavy. Now that I lost the weight, they can't really tell me that. I had blood tests done to see if my body was absorbing my proteins and vitamins alright. No problem there. Then I just had a sleep test done. I'm waiting for the results. I'm hoping they can put me on a medicine that will make me sleep through the night. I wake up a lot. I thought it was normal, because I never stay awake. I just go back to sleep again almost immediately. But I know it's affecting me. I'm never really have much energy : / Really, I am in the same boat you are in.

The first 3 or 4 days are always the hardest. It gets easier, just give it time. Congrats on your new band : )
