Hi. I’m looking for a good app to track protein, fluids, etc. What is everyone using?
-
Thanks everyone! I’ll stick with MFP
-
Does bariastic offer anything MFP doesn’t? I used MFP in the past so I’m inclined to use it again. Unless the other one offers something specific to the bariatric surgery journey

I was sleeved 1/8. I haven't had any complications. No gas pain. I'm now On soft foods. But The past few days my stomach hurts on the right side. To the right of my belly button, above & below it. It's a constant ache but Hurts more when I bend or move a certain way. Sometimes it feels worse than others but seems to be getting worse as the days go on. Could this be a leak? I will call my dr tomorrow. But it really hurts tonight & it's making me nervous. I had my 1st followup last weds but wasn't feeling it then. Anyone feel something similar?

This has been helpful. I left a msg for my dr this AM but haven't heard back yet. I took Tylenol & it helped dull the pain. But that awful burning is severe when I cough or sneeze. I saw on another thread that it could be the gallbladder. But I think it's too low in my stomach to be that.

How long does it last? It's normal For it to start more than 2 weeks post op out of the blue?
-
Also my pain is not near my incisions. Is yours?

@@anniehip how many days post op are you? With no issues in the first 2 weeks I thought I was clear of issues.

I haven't lost any weight in almost a week. My normal weight is 230 DOS 223 1 week post op 213 Now I'm 11 days post op & still 213. I'm getting minimum 48 ounces of fluid daily (my dr said 48-64oz is good). I'm getting at least 60 G protein daily. Sometimes more. I'm on have 2 so I'm getting 3 full liquid meals a day. Which usually consists of 3 ounces of Greek yogurt or 4 ounces of blended soup. And I'm going to the gym the past five days to walk on the treadmill. I'm up to 50 minutes. I plan to do an hour today. Why am I not losing more?

I'm 10 days post op & developing a nasty cold or sinus infection. Normally I would load up on vitamin C & cold meds/mucinex to fight it off but I cant swallow the pills. Suggestions?? I plan to call dr in AM but would like to start taking something today. I used to take those Alka seltzer tablets that dissolve in water for colds but they are fizzy so I think that would be a problem.

Thanks but I still need something to ease the congestion. And I can only drink so many fluids.

Hi everyone. Im 9 days post-op & Day 2 on full liquids. It's tough to get it the required liquids in addition to eating full liquid foods. So far I've had greek yogurt & blended lentil soup. The soup isn't sitting to well. Any ideas/suggestions for Phase 2 foods?

Phase 2 / Full Liquids?

@@alwaysvegas He did. Yogurt, blended lentil or pea soup, applesauce, pudding. Not much variety, that's why I was asking if anyone else discovered something better. -
My nut said wait about 3 months to drink alcohol or eat out. But everything she said about alcohol was more precautionary about the empty calories & getting drunk fast. Nothing specific about it being a problem medically.

Hi everyone! I am six days postop. I was sleeved on January 8. The day of my surgery was horrible. I was sick and nauseous all day long. i'm not sure if it was the anesthesia or the pain medicine or both. But I was dry heaving and crying. It wasn't until late that night they got me the right combination of antinausea medicine and pain medicine. Since then things have been pretty good. I've stopped taking the pain medicines although I do have discomfort and pain at times in my stomach near my incision spots. One odd thing that has happened since the beginning. I get this wave across the top of my stomach that's a mix of nausea/Hunger. It passes in about 5 to 10 seconds but it stops me in my tracks. I'm not sure what that is. it has gotten less frequent as the days go on. The first few days I was nowhere close to where I needed to be with fluid intake. But I've been getting better every day and yesterday I went well beyond what I needed. protein hasn't been that difficult, surprisingly. I am using Genepro unflavored protein powder. If you've seen any of my other posts, you know I don't really like it and it doesn't dissolve well. However for 1 tablespoon you get 30 g of protein. So twice a day I suck it up and make it work with the broth or sugar free hot chocolate. I joined a new gym and walked 30 minutes on the treadmill today. I'm waiting for a call back from my doctors office now to switch to phase 2 which would be full liquids. Phase 2 doesn't seem to be that different than phase 1 except I can have pudding watered down with skim milk or applesauce. Anyone have any suggestions for the phase 2 part of the diet?

I'm 3 days post op & looking for other ways to get my protein. I have vanilla & chocolate protein powder from my nutritionist which is fine. But looking for something flavorless I can mix w broth or juice. I saw a few people on here mention Genepro. I bought that & it does not dissolve in anything. It separates & sits at the bottom or stay clumpy. Waste of $50. Any other suggestions?
-
That's so strange about the Genepro. I tried mixing it in cold & hot stuff & it didn't dissolve. Maybe I need to try room temp? I'll give it another try. It has so much protein it would be great to use it.

Im 2 days post op. I'm getting a strange feeling in my stomach. I'm hoping someone else here can identify with. It comes In waves. It's a feeling of hunger/nausea that washes over the top of my stomach in a matter of seconds, then it passes. But it's constant. Every few minutes. What is this? Anyone else felt it? It doesn't stop when I drink or if I take nausea med. I can't figure out what it is but would feel much better without it. Thoughts?

Post op stomach issue
Monica77 replied to Monica77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@OhSoNique that's exactly how it feels, like a wave. It's so odd but it's so overwhelming for a few seconds. Definitely increases the more I drink. I'm day three postop and not taking in as much liquid as I should. Yesterday I only took in 17 ounces but managed to get in 42 g of protein. I'm going to concentrate on drinking more today and walking more. Thank you everyone for the feedback it so helpful to hear everyone else's experiences and just to know I'm not alone. If this wave of nausea feeling persists and then I'm gonna call my doctor in the morning. He did give me anti-nausea medicine but not an ant acid. I do have Nexium as a prescription that I usually take but now I can't swallow the capsule so I'm not taking anything. -
My surgery is scheduled for this Thurs. I have been reading posts on here for a few weeks but this is the first time I'm writing. I'm starting to panic & wonder if I'm making the right decision. This process has been 1 1/2 years for me so it's not something I rushed into. But I'm suddenly worried. And the things that keep popping into my mind are: can I really never have pizza again? What about margaritas? What if the hunger feeling doesn't go away & I'm hungry all the time but unable to eat? What if there is a complication? Please tell me I'm worried for nothing!

2 days post op. Thursday after surgery was awful. I spent the whole day in pain, nauseous & dry heaving. I think it was a combo of the anesthesia & pain meds making me sick. It wasn't until about 10p that night the dr figured out a combo of meds that made me comfortable. I came home yesterday afternoon after my GI test showed no leaks & I was able to keep some liquids down. I didn't have any of the awful pains from the gas that I had heard about. I didn't drink much once I got home yesterday. In all my nutrition classes, the instructions I was given was to drink 4-6 ounces an hour once home. But yesterday before I left hospital a dietician stopped in and said I should start w 1-2 ounces an hour & work my way up. I am in pain in my stomach area where the incisions are. And I'm getting a strange feeling in my stomach. I'm hoping someone else here can identify with. It comes In waves.
