    California Doctors

I had mine done here as well. They were great!
  2. I'm a year and a half post op and sometimes I do have the thought like, "Holy crap, I had my stomach removed! WTF!" But I don't regret it and would totally do it again. I am happier now and healthier. No regrets at all.
  3. I'm a year and a half post-op and I watch the FB food videos, but I don't crave the foods. Sometimes I do watch and think how easy it would be to adapt that recipe to be healthy and something I could eat. Or I watch and think "Stuff like that is the reason people are fat!" If it is the same friends posting the videos you could always hide them until you are ready.

    Is this weird?

It is slightly surprising that there is such a wide range of Dr. orders for pre-op for the same surgery. Even the after surgery orders can vary so widely you'll question your surgeon. My surgeon orders a 10 day liquid only diet prior to surgery (protein drinks and Clear liquids only) and NPO after midnight the night before. But definitely listen to YOUR surgeon and do what your programs says.

So where are 30 somethings shopping?

Old Navy, Target, Kohls, H & M and JcPenney mostly. I'm trying to be a bit frugal and not spend a ton because I'm not done losing yet and I want to really define my style now that I have to get everything new. So I'm picky and cheap, lol.
  6. Can your surgeon move up your surgery date? Your recert month isn't until January, that is pretty far away. If that's not possible I would just seriously weight the cost of paying out of pocket vs your husband working extra hours and putting you over the amount. Its a terrible choice, but $5000 or so is a lot of money.

    taste good?

I like Premier Protein for ready to drink, and Quest for powder.

    Protein, hmmm

All Drs have their own programs. Mine wants us to get in at least 80 grams a day as a female and 100 as a male. The more protein you get in the faster the weight will drop. Same with water. The more the better, the weight will drop faster. Protein also helps in healing and minimizing the effects of post-op hair loss and other side effects. I'm over a year out and still losing because I keep up on my protein. It also makes me feel better. If I'm feeling tired I can eat a protein bar and be energized.
  9. My "stomach" hurts and I go lay down. Then after a few minutes I am okay again.

    Caring for kids post-op

My DD was 2 when I had surgery. I wasn't supposed to pick her up, but obviously I had to at some point. She was still sleeping in a crib. I just tried to limit it as much as possible. I also got a stool at Ikea so she could climb onto her changing table, so that helped. Or just changed her on the couch. She would run and get the changing pad, diaper and wipes. It was adorable and helpful. After a few days I was fine. Just be careful and you'll be fine.

    Having a baby?

It's important to wait to improve chances of a healthier pregnancy and healthy baby. Oh I know! Like I was saying to my hubs the other day, "I'm still learning how to feed myself, I'm nowhere near ready to eat for 2!" LOL It's just that we've been trying for what feels like forever, and to have to wait even longer...it's exhausting. I know you are being funny, but if you have the mindset of eating for two you'll end up gaining too much weight. You only need a few hundred extra calories, and really not even at the beginning. Luckily you'll be able to meet that need with a Protein shake

    Birth control= weight gain?

I just got the Nuvaring, and so far its been fine. There are side effects to all of the choices, and if you search you will find people who have had terrible experiences with every type of BC available. Just pick the one that will work the best for your lifestyle. At worse you hate it and in a few months you can switch to a different one. It happens.

    Having a baby?

My Drs said 24 months until you should start trying. Although I have a friend that got pregnant right after she was a year out, so I guess not everyone listened. I'd think it would be important to be at goal longer than 1 month before you try to get pregnant. You could get lucky and get pregnant right away. Losing weight quickly and then gaining again might make it harder post-baby to lose weight again. My drs said that people who get pregnant before 2 years out tend to gain more weight overall and find it harder to reach their goal weight (post baby).

    April 27 sleevers?

April 27th is my one year!! Good luck, you're going to love it!
  15. Shopping. I've always been a shopper, but now I have to replace every item since the old ones are way too big. And makeup. Always have been into it, but it's gettin a little out of hand. But I look cute.

Should I get a tummy tuck?

I'm waiting until I'm done having kids. I'm cheap, and wouldn't want to have to pay to have another tuck. You never know how you'll carry though. It's a big gamble. You could get the tuck now and have kids and it will still look great. Or not and be back where you started.
  17. I only told my mom, boss, and two friends (who are married). After I told one other friend because it turns out she had the same surgery with the same surgeon a month earlier. Had no idea until she started posting on FB about it. I just don't think its anyone's business. If they ask how I've lost weight I just say portion control, avoiding sugar/carbs and more Protein. Which is all true. The sleeve doesn't define my weight loss. It was simply a tool that I used.

    Protein shake

I only drink one shake a day, so I just use Premier. I usually just stick to the chocolate because I like it better than strawberry. But last week when the Premier shakes were on coupon at costco I picked up a case of strawberry to mix in to make a smoothie. I did just get some Quest samples, so I'm a little excited to try those. At this point I am almost 10 months out, so unless I add stuff to a shake its super boring. SF syrups, PB2, fruit... something to make it more exciting. Once I could have Protein bars I switched to mostly those. I still eat around 90 grams of protein a day through supplements per my Drs plan.
  19. My Dr. doesn't allow salads until 6 months +, so I think it is just too soon for you.

    Is it normal

I can go all day without eating because I am never hungry. I have to remind myself. I am almost 10 months out, so what you are experiencing is normal. No hunger is a blessing and a curse!
  21. I don't work shift work, but my schedule always seems erratic. I drink a Protein drink while I am getting ready. Then if I have any breaks at work or on the drive home I eat a Protein Bar. And then dinner when I'm home. Try eating a protein bar when you are driving home and during breaks. And drinking a shake when you are getting ready or after your workout. If you feel like snacking, make the snack a protein bar, shake, or yogurt or something. Since your schedule is altered 2am-6am is your evening. Regular people are eating dinner in their evening and usually have a snack after their dinner. So as long as you are making good choices then the snacking should be okay. Especially if you need to eat more food.
  22. Some sort of chapstick, hand lotion and a extension cord so that you can charge your phone or iPad easier. I went home 24 hours later, so I didn't need much. The first day I was pretty much sleeping because of pain meds and recovering from surgery. The next morning I got up for the pouch test and then they sent me home. So I didn't have much of a chance to do anything or need occupied.
  23. Of course you will able to eat again at some point. At some point food would be enjoyable otherwise this surgery wouldn't be as popular. You are only like 3 weeks out. I was still on liquids at that point. I am now 9 months out and can eat whatever I want (if I wanted to), just obviously in smaller quantities that pre-surgery. But the smaller quantities are why I've lost over 100lbs. You just need to stick with the program. Drink your Protein and keep your eye on the prize. You are in the crappy part. It will get better soon. And in a year you will barely remember it being so bad.
