It's so crazy to see what all the surgeons want, and how different they all are. I am also not required to be on a liquid diet before surgery. I have some anxiety about that since It seems like most are. I have been trying to kind of supplement meals for protein shakes as a kind of mock liquid diet... but without those actual rules, I find I am too often deciding to have a meal vs the shake. Vitamins seem to be a huge thing. My doctor has prescribed me a chewable prenatal vitamin, chewable calcium citrate, and a b12 lozenge. also he has me on Prilosec before the surgery, which I found to be weird since I don't really have heart burn like ever. From what I can tell afterwards I am on 3 weeks of liquids then three weeks puree and then trying solids. I am so happy to see that the people who have already had the surgery are doing well! I can't believe that mine is in 6 days!!! I can't wait to join everyone on the losers bench

    hi! I'm the 19th!!
  13. Hey everyone! So I'm naturally a very anxious person! Years ago I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. They put me on medication that I didn't really like and so discontinued everything. I have been managing for the most part just fine. However since getting a date for surgery and everything becoming more real you know I'm a mess! I have decided to continue on with the therapist that I was seeing for my psych evaluation. I have an appointment wed I know the months and steps I have done to prepare for this are all a good thing! This surgery is the best choice I could make for myself but in moments of weakness I get so worked up! I'm thinking of asking my therapist if maybe an anxiety med would be ok at least to help me get through the next few weeks. I really don't want to chicken out of this surgery!! Anyone else going through something like this?
  14. hi! How are are you feeling?!? I'm a nervous wreck but excited and ready to get moving with everything! I have my date for feb 19! I have an endoscopy on the 3rd and my surgeon is putting an IVC filter in a a precaution against blood clots in the 10th. Phew! Seems like a lot but I know it will be worth it!

I am mostly excited and ready, but once in awhile well like two to three times a day lol I start to worry am I really making the right choice?!? Am I really ready for this?!? I really don't want to die! Ect... Everyone says its natural to have anxiety. This is huge, and it IS life changing! I actually have decided to stay on with the therapist who I had my psych evaluation with and made an appointment on Tuesday. Just to hash out some of my fears and anxieties. Also... I tried the isopure Protein Water... It was good but I found it to be sweet so I worry that after the surgery it will be too sweet. However maybe on ice and watered down in little sips it will be good.
  16. this may seem like a silly question but how do you check a surgeons death stats? I have done my research on my surgeon and feel confident in him but I would still like to know lol.

I REALLY like the baby spoon idea! I have been starting to stress about eating and drinking slower! I am a huge chugger of beverages and I tend to eat quickly but I guess it's a learning process! I'm sure the first time I get sick from eating or drinking too fast I will learn lol

Hi all! I'm feb 19th! I'm from Waterbury CT. I'm having an endoscopy on the 3rd and IVC filter placement on the 10th. Anyone else hear of this IVC filter? My doctor does it in patients with a bmi 50 an higher to help prevent blood clots. My bmi is 50.6 so I was right on the line lol
  21. We are close in dates! I have two children 11 and 8... They are a motivator but also they make me worried. I am so afraid of the surgery it self! I've never been under anesthesia before but I just remind myself that this is a good choice and I will be healthier because of it... But it's scary.
  22. Hi! I'm not from UK but I am 31 and my surgery is Feb 19! I'm having gastric bypass. I'm from Connecticut. I know how you feel! I get really depressed sometimes from my weight. I'm so excited to start this journey! Or rather finish this journey since all the pre op requirements took some time to complete!

    February 19th gastric bypass here!
  24. Hi Every one! I have my date for surgery! It's Feb 19, 2015!! It's all coming together now! I can already feel the anxiety building. Signing all the paperwork today and acknowledging all the risks was tough to swallow! I mean believe me... I know this is major surgery and there are major risks but... still initialing all the risks... that most of those sentences ended in "or even death" was tough. My surgeon is great though and super confident. I still feel good, just nervous a little. I imagine as the time gets nearer I will get more nervous but its great to have a place to vent and see other people who are going through the same things! I have two smaller procedures scheduled before the surgery, and endoscopy and IVC filter placement to help prevent blood clots. did anyone else have these done? what can I expect pain wise? I don't want to take any more work off than I have to. Any advice would be great! All in All.... I'm super excited! Can't wait to move forward to a new healthier beginning!!
