I forgot I was even subscribed to get these updates as this is the first one I've received in about 8 or 9 months. Where did I go? I went to Dr Anthone in Omaha back in October and had my lap band removed and was revised to duodenal switch. My band had proved useless for weight loss and slipped till it was sitting directly against the bottom of my esophagus, making it impossible to get solids down, and often couldn't even get liquids down. It's no fun waking up in the morning choking on your own spit. :mad2: I hope the rest of you have better luck with your bands, but if not don't be ashamed to look into revision to a different type of surgery. Your health is what matters. If you want info on the DS (duodenal switch) check out Duodenal Switch or Duodenal Switch Forum (DS) . Happy Holidays! Karen

Welcome back and congratulations on making goal!! You're an inspiration to those of us struggling to get there. I hope you and your family are well. How is your Mom doing? Karen

The WLS Expo was at St Johns. They have it each year. It included speakers, Dr Cavanagh (new Dr working with Dr Edwards); Dr Shah, plastic surgeon and Lisa Rose, reporter on KY3 news and lap band patient. There was also a fashion show with several successful WLS patients modeling. I've signed up to be in the fashion show next year, so I have a deadline to get to goal. 71 down, 70 to go.

It's been a while since I posted, not much going on. Weight is coming off sloooooooooowly, but at least it is coming off. Is anyone else planning on going to the WLS Expo on the 11th? Karen

My advise is to stop being depressed and get mad!! You're doctor is full of crap. Our bands don't help until we get effective restriction and that requires fills and if he doesn't get that he shouldn't be doing lap band surgery. You are paying for his services and he does not have the right to refuse. Go back in there and demand a fill. I gained between my first and second fill also; it's quite common. I got my 4th fill 1 week ago and now have good restriction. I've lost 18 pounds since surgery, 66 overall. Go get 'em!!

Finally busted out of my plateau and into the 100's!!!!! As of this morning 196.8!

I'm sooooo jealous. You have collar bones! I haven't seen mine in decades.

I had my second fill a week ago and now have some restriction in the morning, but it's gone my afternoon. Hopefully this will help since I'd actually gained back 2 pounds between my first and second fill.

I got my 1st fill today, 5 cc's in my 14 cc band. I'm on liquids for 24 hours then mushies for another 24, so it'll be Saturday before I find out if I have any restriction. Liquids are going down without any problem. I'm crossing my fingers and toes, but I know it usually takes 3 to 5 fills to reach the sweet spot. As of this morning I'm down to 201.8, down 11.4 since surgery. I was soooo hoping to be below 200, but no such luck. I just need to learn to be patient.

Here in Marshfield we got a bit of rain and a whole lot of wind, but nothing serious.

I guess it wasn't too bad here in Marshfield. I slept right through it. TGIF!

What to do until fill????

Today was my first day of mushies and they're so much more satisfying than liquids. I put some chilli in the blender and it was sooooooo good! On a happy note, I'm down 8.4 pounds in the 2 weeks since surgery. :blushing: -
Dr Edwards # is (417) 820-3800.

I wish I could go, but I work till 8 pm. Say hi to Janet and everyone for me. Happy Monday!:wink2:

I know just how you feel. I was banded on the 16th and I'm still on full liquids (3 more days till mushies!). I've read other posts that suggested putting chili thru a blender. I hope it's good because that's what I'm planning for lunch on Wednesday. I'm soooooooooooo hungry!:smile2: -
Under our names and avatars it shows something called Rep Power. What the heck is that?

Thank You!! :rolleyes2:

Help! How long did it take for your stomach swelling to go down after surgery! It's been 3 days, and I still can't take more than 2 sips of anything before I get that rock in the middle of my chest feeling. Makes it rather hard to get in all the protein and fluids. :tongue_smilie:

A divorce is no fun, but I'll bet getting rid of him will be a bigger weight off your shoulders (and spirit) than that 100 pounds. If there's anything you need, let me know. Good luck.

I was banded yesterday and all is well. Very little pain (heating pad got rid of the shoulder pain) and I'm getting around without any problems. Now I just need to keep busy so I don't think about food! :tt1:
-
I guess I'm luckier than most. I didn't have any shots in my stomach (unless they did them after they knocked me out) and my pain has been minimal. I had a darvocet before I left the hospital, and just x-strength tylenol now that I'm home. letschat- thanks for the recipe. I think I'll go cook some up right now! :tt1:

There used to be a sticky with a list of things to take with you on the day of surgery, but now that I'm to be banded tomorrow the sticky is gone!! Where is it???????????
