Hi all, Hoping to get some advice on this pain I'm feeling. I was sleeved on 9/29 and last night I woke up with a stabbing pain in my sleeve. I get one every 30-40 seconds, it lasts about 3-5 seconds a piece. It happens whether I've eaten, whether I'm hungry, whether I'm moving or relaxing. I haven't eaten anything that differs from my surgeons "suggested menu" at this point. I ate a scrambled egg white this morning and then a couple bites of grilled chicken for lunch. I've been sipping on Protein shakes all day long. I don't know if this is something that's normal, happens to everyone or if this could possibly be a late perforation. I also feel nauseous but I've been consistently nauseous since my surgery so I'm not sure if that's any indication of anything or not. Please help. Any advice would be great. TIA. Hey all! Just wanted to give an update. Called my surgeon, went to see him..he did say I was very swollen, more so than usual. Wasn't exactly sure why. Said my surgery was as simple as any other. No major movements that was needed, no excess tugging, etc. so he did some scans, checked once more for a leak (just as a precautionary) more blood work, listened and looked and everything seemed fine. Told me to rest easy for a couple days, ice my tummy and gave me a binder. Things have only went up from there. I'm doing much better, and am up walking around a lot easier now! I actually was able to pick my daughter up from Kindergarten today and that made my day! She immediately said "Mommy! Are you all better!?" So thankfully I'm getting there! My husband is very supportive, very helpful, does everything he can to help and even tries not to eat around me as he feels guilty for eating! Poor guy. He goes back to work in the morning but I still have my awesome mamma to help me around the house with my 5 y.o. And 3 y.o. (Praise Jesus!) haha. So thanks again for every ones suggestions. I'm glad I went before something major happened! Oh, and when I went to the doctor, I weighed in at 320! 35 lbs down from my HW and 20 lbs down from surgery date! Woo! Thank you everyone! I'm definitely going to call my surgeon to see what he thinks I should do. Another thing, I didn't mention and I'm not sure if any one else has ever experienced, I have literal lumps around my incisions that my stomach feels like it has "hills"? I guess is the only way to explain it. I figured it was just gas/swelling but it's not gone down any at all. Where can I get an abdominal binder? That sounds like heaven. Someone said something about it hurts too much to laugh...I haven't been able to laugh/cough/ sneeze without feeling like my stomach is going to literally tear apart. Thanks again everyone. I didn't feel like this was normal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Lacee, I had the gastric sleeve. I walked all through those hallways when I was in the hospital and have continued to walk after I'm home. It is just incredibly painful to do so. It's not the incisions and it's not my sleeve that feels painful, it feels mostly like maybe the heaviness of my belly is pulling at all of my muscles and they're tearing apart! I still can't do anything unassisted. ???? -

Hey guys, I've always kind of lurked around, don't really say much. But I need some advice. Here's a little about me. My name is Deborah, you can call me Deb. I'm 26 years old and I've been over weight almost all of my life. When I was 8 I had a really bad incident with some boiling Water and after that I never wanted to play outside, I stayed inside eating. My mother tells me she regrets never taking me to see someone professionally because she believes it has stemmed a lot of weight issues, as well as depression, anxiety. Etc. Anyway, fast forward to 2010, I find out I'm pregnant with my first, my daughter. I knew right then that my weight (especially since every doctors visit included a long speech about how being obese can hurt or hinder the pregnancy) would have a huge toll on me being a good mother. Just like everyone here, I've dieted and failed a million times over. I'd lose then gain and was constantly reminding myself how useless I was. It was some very dark times for me! So that's why I decided to look into bariatric surgery. 2013 I find out that I'm pregnant with my son. So that kind of stopped every thing in its tracks. Well I finally jumped through all of my insurance requirements and FINALLY got the gastric sleeve on September 29th at 7:30 in the morning. My heaviest ever was 350. Day of surgery, I was down to 335. My issue is...its been 2 days and I still cannot move! I'm in such unbearable pain that I can't go to the bathroom by myself, I can't get up and down without my husband (who's 135 lbs sopping wet) pulling me up and letting me use his shoulders to lower myself down. I can't pull my own pants up, tmi but I can't even wipe myself! I know it's only been a couple of days and everyone responds differently but is there anyone else out there that has dealt with this? I feel like every muscle in my stomach tears apart every time I stand up. They burn like they're on fire! I'm really worried. Oh and the doctor has me on Percocet which I have been taking faithfully to keep ahead of the pain. Why am I having such issues? Just too early still? TIA. Quick question.... I've just started my process and have only seen my PCP and the bariatric dr. that I will be doing my procedure(I've only been to see him once) my insurance requires a 9 month pre-op and I'm now receiving bills from my PCP which I've never had a problem with caresource covering. I'm wondering if my doc saying anything about bariatric anything in the submissions to insurance is causing them to deny those visits. Should I count on paying for those visits or should I contact my insurance and see why they are denying?? So confused!! TIA.

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
Debbie_downsizing replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am pre-op but I've made the decision to change my life for my children. My 3 year old walks around holding her back saying "my back is killing me!" Wonder where she learned that from? I can't do anything with my babies when they want me to. I don't want to die and leave my children without a mother but I don't want to live and be a mother they don't deserve. -

Help! How to get started!?
Debbie_downsizing replied to Debbie_downsizing's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you, Everyone! You have seriously been so helpful. I have never done anything like this before in my life and I'm super nervous of being denied. I'm not going to quit, though. I know that being sleeved is and forever will be my only option as I have tried everything else under the sun to no avail. My children deserve a mother who can play outside with them and go on bike rides and anything else they wish to do. Not the "never leave the house" mom that I am now. I am getting in touch with my insurance provider tomorrow to find a surgeon and then will do some research on which is the best to deal with in my area. I really do appreciate everyone's response. I feel much better! -

Help! How to get started!?
Debbie_downsizing replied to Debbie_downsizing's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you, everyone! I was afraid that it wouldn't "count" if I wasn't referred from my PCP. I'll definitely get in contact with a surgeon and see what needs to be done. Maybe this will hurry the process for me! I know I have at least a 9 month wait where I have to meet with a dietician. *ugh* but, I'll be patient...I guess. Lol. Thanks again! -

Debbie_downsizing replied to Debbie_downsizing's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you! I just wasn't sure if I wasn't "referred" to something if it would "count" so to say. Will they give me something at the seminar that shows I went on what day? Maybe if I find a surgeon and call them to see if they can tell me what exactly needs to be done. Thanks so much for your reply! -
I've set a date with my PCP but it's not for another month! I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do/ anyone I can contact before I talk to my PCP. I know what my insurance is going to require but I'm not sure if I have to wait and deal with PCP first!?? I'm so confused! Any advice? Thanks in advance!
