I started this journey eight years ago as I watched two co-workers go through the process. I asked lots of questions and followed their progress, the ups and downs of weight loss surgery.  Weight loss surgery wasn't for me at that time, I decided.  It seemed to drastic and invasive to me.  Flash forward to 2013.  My dad lost his life due to obesity issues.  He fought the obesity battle all his life with all the side affects that go with obesity.  I watched my dad struggle to live the year and a half of his life as he lived in a nursing home.  When he died in March of 2013, I vowed then to not put myself or my kids through what he went through.  As a single mom to two (they are adopted) I KNEW I couldn't orphan them, they were orphaned once, but I wasn't going to do that to them or myself!  But it took me another year to get my act together and finally attend a free seminar mid Oct 2014!  That started the ball rolling and fast it was.  I had the Gastric Sleeve Dec 29th, 2014.  So I'm 12 days Post Op as I write this.  It's been a hard road back.  Perhaps because I'm in my 50's. LOL.  I found Bariatric Pal via a friend who had the surgery last summer.  Thankfully I have five friends who have been through the surgery and are my cheerleaders.

The hard part for me right now is getting protein liquids down and any other liquids, they cause lots of gas pain and burping.  I still don't have much energy, a shower takes a lot of effort.  I've been within these four walls since my surgery and I feel life passing me by.  I missed out on so much during the holidays, I still have the tree up partly because I can't admit Christmas is over.  Not to mention no energy to take it down.

I was required to loose 10% of my weight prior to surgery.  I almost made it, lost 25.  I'm not sure how much I've lost so far but according to my scale it's about 35 pounds.
