A bit sad and worried
CountryGirl5584 replied to DevilAngela13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're always going to have people that don't support your decision. The decision is yours and yours only. I figure by the time someone has made the decision to do surgery they have tried everything. I know for myself that trying another diet one more time would be pointless. Best of luck to you -
I'm done telling folks. They don't get it
CountryGirl5584 replied to wannaBthinsoon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I've already posted to this topic, but at first I only told people that needed to know I was having surgery and surprisingly got a really good response from everyone(including people I didn't think I would get support from). Yesterday, I decided I would start telling people at work. The one person I told was very supportive. The other one said I feel like that is just the jump start to a terrible diet. You won't be able to eat like a normal person. I told her eventually I will be able to eat just not as much and yes I will not be able to tolerate some foods. I told her what I consider "eating normal" got me in the position I am now. Now maybe it's wrong of me to think that she would be supportive because she's overweight(heavier than me) has had heart issues, on bp meds, 1 step from a heart attack, etc. But her comment just pissed me off. I thought she would understand that after failing several times at dieting that I made this choice to get healthier. Obviously, her comment got to me, but I just needed to vent and I will not let her comment stress me out! Thanks for listening. I just needed to vent. -

Congrats! That's awesome news! -
Have you gone to an informational seminar?

I'm very impatient...I'm 3 weeks away from surgery and waiting for the surgical coordinator to call me to set up my pre-admission testing is killing me. I know she'll have no problem setting up the appts as my mom works in the radiology department and I'll get in, but I hate waiting

Support for significant other
CountryGirl5584 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So my boyfriend is very supportive of me getting the sleeve. He is also stressing himself out because he wants to make sure he is doing everything he can to help me be successful. He's nervous that he's going to fail at supporting my nutritional needs etc. Are there any support groups for significant others or do you have any advice for him? Surgery is scheduled for Feb 9th -

My boyfriend usually cooks since he's home first from work and he really enjoys cooking. He just wants to make sure he can do whatever he can on his side to help me succeed -
So I'm still in the pre-op stage, but I was wondering what everyone's favorite type of exercise is?

I would explain your situation to the surgeon. Most offices will try to squeeze you in.
