Hi, everyone! I'm Mel...I stumbled upon here by searching for information about my surgery (I'm about 10 days out now).

I got weight loss surgery because I...honestly, felt pressure to from my mother and my aunt. I have had weight issues since I was a child. I'm 20 years old, and my relationship with food is a dangerous one. I either eat too little, as when I'm at school, or way too much, as when I'm bored or at home.

So far, the good parts of all of this have been the well wishes and the idea that this will help me lose weight. The "bad"...well, if you asked me that now, it would outweigh the good. It all seems way too complicated. I don't have time to be doing all of this measuring on top of worrying about my school work and everything else. I feel like I'll never be able to have the things I love again. I also feel like it's so easy to screw up or do it wrong. I really want this to work...but will it?

But after reading some of these forums, I'm feeling much better now that I know I'm not alone.

I'm in the process of changing who I am and I'm really excited about it! Please, feel free to message me and we can encourage each other on this exciting journey :)
