  1. You might also google Dr. Matthew Weiner- he's a bariatric surgeon and has a lot of helpful videos on his website. He takes a different approach re: veggies and actually advocates that after three months, bariatric patients should eat their veggies FIRST- focus on veggies, Beans, legumes, and view meat as a condiment. He advocates eating fresh, unprocessed foods. It's an interesting approach and one worth taking a look at, particularly if you are a big veggie eater.

    Curse you, Diet Coke!

Thanks for the feedback. I think I will stick to just having a few sips.
  3. I'm eight weeks out. My doctor's plan allows carbonated beverages after one month, but I managed to quit diet cokes during pre-op. I usually only had one, two max, per day when I was drinking them. I had a few sips of my daughter's diet coke last week. And I've continued to have a few sips ever since. Sadly, it still tastes good to me and does not bother my sleeve at all. Sigh. I wish it did. I know I should not pick up this habit again. Talk me down from the ledge. (Or tell me I can have it. I'll take that, too. )

    protein?

Have you tried GENEPRO? I mix it with iced tea. It's not thick and it actually dissolves.

    Genepro protein!

It's the only Protein I've found that actually dissolves and doesn't alter the taste. I put it in my iced tea in the morning with some squirts of Dasani flavor drops- it's awesome.

    Tator tot hotdish?

I would follow what your nutritionist tells you- everybody's guidelines are different. I'm not allowed potatoes, bread, etc., which is why I said that in my previous post.

    Tator tot hotdish?

No taters. Stick with Proteins only.

Still weigh more than surgery day!

I am four weeks out, and the best decision I've made throughout this process is to NOT weight myself for this very reason. I know myself well enough to know that if I weighed daily and did not see a drop, I would become frustrated. I have chosen to follow the rules, trust the process, and let the weight come off when it wants to. And I have to tell you it is the most peace of mind I've ever had about my weight. So my advice to you is jump right off that scale and don't weight yourself until your next doctor's visit. I promise you will be happy! (P.S., you're probably still retaining Fluid from everything they pumped in you during surgery- it will come right off!)

    MILK

I love the Fairlife! I drink the 2%- it has such a creamy taste and more Protein than regular milk. My only issue with Almond Milk is it doesn't have hardly any protein. Yes, milk has carbs, but we do need some carbs.
  10. So, I still struggle with the Protein shakes, but I think I've finally found an alternative. This morning, I made some unsweet, decaf tea and added a scoop of the genpro protein (which is the only one I've found that actually seems to dissolve), then I added a squirt of the Crystal Light Tropical Coconut Water Enhancer. 30 grams of protein, and it tastes good!

    Extreme Stomach Pains

Could it be trapped gas? I've had occasional bouts of severe gas that have left me in a ball on the floor. (Pre-sleeve).

    Having Doubts

You are like me in that way both have a relatively small amount of weight to lose compared to those that will be losing 100+ pounds. I think in some ways the decision is harder when you have a little less to lose because you do tell yourself that you can do it "on your own." And yes, I was successful "on my own" at losing, but never maintaining. Honestly, I just got sick of the struggle. Plus, once I turned 40 and my metabolism slowed, it became extremely difficult to lose. I also have co-morbidities and decided that I wanted to lick this issue once and for all. I am 4 weeks out, and although it has not been easy, I am happy with my decision. I feel great and am wearing clothes that have been sitting in the back of my closet for years.

Roll call all who had surgery JUNE 2015

Hi guys! I was sleeved 6/29 and down 22 pounds. Just got to start pureed foods today, so I am very excited about that! All is well, although I am sick to death of Protein shakes.
  14. After being on all liquids for nearly four weeks, I got the all clear today to move to purees and mushies. I am having egg salad for lunch, and I have never been so excited to have an egg before in my life. Praise the Lord, I can chew again!!
  15. I experience the same thing, and I think it's just how my body processes being on an all liquid diet. I get stomach cramps, and then I'd better find a restroom quickly because the "waste" does not want to wait! I met with my NUT today, and she advised adding in some Benefiber, so hopefully that will help. Also, I get to start on pureed foods today (woo hoo!), and I'm hoping that helps, as well.
