  1. Had my surgery on 12/29/2014. My first fill occured on 1/20/2015. After reading some posts, I thought that they had already partially filled my band when it was put in. Yesterday the doctor said they only filled to have it snug against the stomach, but they did not actually consider that a "fill". They filled me with "1 CC" of Fluid. I was told that each visit would add 1 CC until I got to "4", then it would only be increased at .25 CC. I can only come in for fills ever 3-4 weeks. Question: Is this normal? Just 1 CC fills at a time? It seems that the weight loss would not really occur until I get to the green zone, and at that pace it would be months before I hit that point! Thanks for everyone's help! I live in a rural area (3 hours away from my doctor), there is no support groups near me, so I rely upon this site for my help. Thanks again!!!
  2. When can you start doing sit-ups/crunches? My surgery occurred on 12/29/2014. As part of my program I met with a exercise consultant. He gave me information regarding resistance training, but I do not remember anything about sit-ups or crunches. I did about 75 crunches yesterday. I was online this morning doing some more research on exercise programs I can do. One website that was tied to a lap-band company said to get doctor approval before doing sit-ups because it could cause slipping? Anyone else been told this?
  3. Thanks to everyone for the replies so far. Sounds like slow and steady is the key. Seems like I am not that restricted right now (at a 1 CC still). Had a good size bowl of Soup last night (with corn, green Beans, black beans, some meat). Thought I would be filled-up much quicker then I was, especially with the beans in the soup. Looking forward to getting back to the "full" feeling quickly (like I was right after the surgery).
  4. Thanks for the answers to my question. I thought that after the surgery the band was not tight yet? I thought it only was tightened when you went in for your first fill? Is the band already tightened in my stomach?
  5. This is the one thing that has really concerned me. I am on day 13 (no fills on the band yet), and while on the liquid diet, I did try eggs one time and Pasta, and had pretty bad pain. QUESTION: I can eat a 16 ounce bowl of Soup without really any pain now. I can also drink a normal amount of shakes, Water, etc. without pain. Why is it that just eating a normal size (too big probably) of pasta caused a LOT of pain at my chest and made me think I was going to throw-up?
  6. After the surgery I did feel restrictions, just could not eat a lot of soup or stuff like that. Assumed that my stomach was swollen or something. After about 5-6 days I was able to drink the soup, shakes, Water, etc. just fine. I drink 16 ounces of those items without much of a problem at all. I assumed that the swelling had gone down, and since I have not had a fill yet, that my stomach was basically like it was before the surgery. Yesterday (day 12 I believe), I decided to try some of the Pasta I made for my daughter (spaghetti noodles, Parmesan cheese, some butter). I made sure to really chew it up, and swolloen in small parts. WELL- BAD IDEA. Man, that hurt for some reason. Instantly felt pain at around the chest, sweating, and was not sure if it was going to go down. Not fun at all. Had a small bite of eggs today, and had some pain (not to the same extent as the pasta noodles). I was really surprised, I did not think the band was tight at all, but not it seems that it is restricting me somewhat. So, while i can really take as much liquids as I want, the normal food is not there yet. On a side note, the pasta may have worked if I had swallowed really small bites, but I did not want to try that again. QUESTION- IS THIS NORMAL?
  7. I had my surgery done at a weight loss clinic in Portland, Oregon. I live hear Hermiston Oregon. I am concerned with what I would do if I needed to have my band taken out if I had a problem with something I ate. Any idea of a doctor that does fills in my area? Thanks for your help!!!!
  8. As for weight loss- weighed in at the hospital for surgery at 307. I believe I am not at around 295 (however, that is hospital scale vs. home scale, so who really knows). I have been using the Isopure Protein supplement from Amazon (both unflavored and Dutch Chocolate). Side note for protein supplement- when added to any Soup, makes the soup very think and lumpy- like watered down instant mashed potatoes. While I do not mind that, I can see many people not liking it.
  9. Had Surgery on Dec. 29th (right before end of the year for insurance reasons). Everything went pretty well. Was tired for the first week afterwards, slept a lot, and stuck to the liquid diet. Could not drink as much for the first 4-5 days after the surgery. Thought that the stomach was smaller, but it was probably just swollen or something because I can drink a lot of liquids and Soups now. Will be moving toe mushy food starting on Monday. All off the pain medications now. Still sore/sensitive at one of the of the incision points, which seems weird to me since every other spot feel fine. Going in for my first appointment (and fill I think) on the 20th. Look forward to that so I will not feel as hungry as I do now.
