Cramp or unpleasant tightness immediately after food or water hits stomach
galadriel535 replied to auntjanny's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This happens to me if I eat too fast or drink too fast, or if I take more than Suzy Sleeve can handle. Have you added any new foods recently? I have learned just to slow down. (It is still hard to eat slowly, and to know when I have had enough.) Hope this helps. -

Actually that was the reaction I was afraid my daughters would have, but they were very supportive. For me this was the last, best option to save my life. I just could not take the weight off. I have gained and lost 100 pounds 2 times before in my life, but at this age, I struggled so much. I had an appetite that was out of control. I tried and tried to do it, but could not. Now, i am so happy I did this! My blood pressure is normal for the first time in 15 years. I was sleeved on 12-23, and feel soooooo much better than I have in years. This has improved the quality of my life immeasurably, and I am still healing. Yes, it is drastic, but at this point, I needed a drastic masure to change my life. Just my 2 cents worth.

What's with all the "diet" food?
galadriel535 replied to lgrey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am trying to eat healthy foods. Period. i avoid processed foods, additives etc. Trying to just eat organic healthy things. I am not about doing "diet" foods per se. they enver worked for me. I need to avoid sugar: all types of processed stuff. not a fan of low fat, processed, artificially sweetened foods. So far, so good. I think it is REALLY important to listen to your body and try to build a healthy food plan that works for you, one day at a time. Still a beginner, since I was sleeved on 12-23-14...but that is my 2 cents worth. -

Question...do you look older after your weight loss?
galadriel535 replied to allyray's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This was my fear: I am only at the start of my journey, got sleeved on 12-23. I have lost 22 pounds since 12-10, and look very saggy to me in the mirror. So anyway I took my 22 year old kid to whole foods and we were looking at sushi: I was going to buy her some for dinner. I said wistfully "I wish I could have sushi". (I am in the puree phase.) :/ This guy standing next to us looked at me and said, "But you can't , since you are pregnant and it is bad for the baby, right?" I burst out laughing hysterically and said "Bless you for thinking that is possible!" (I am 62. MY 33 year old daughter is pregnant with my first grandchild! ) So the God of my understanding has a wonderful sense of humor....I took this to mean that I should not worry about looking like the crypkeeper when I get to my goal weight. LOL. -
I have been living on this Soup for the past few days...it is to die for. I am thinking of adding silky tofu and/or Protein powder to it. (I also snuck in some fat fe=ree cheddar. I used low fat cheddar cheese shredded, rather than velveeta. this soup rocks my socks!) http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/broccoli-cheese-soup-1 I googled low fat recipes for soup...worked for me. Hang in there sweetie! I understand your confusion...it hits me too.

OMG...what possible rationale could there be to wait years of sex, post operationally, if all is normal???? That sounds insane! -

Why different post op diet requirements?
galadriel535 replied to Annie77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe it's because I am 62 and have had a long time in this body...but I have found so many conflicting things being told to me...and that is from my own surgeon's office, to be honest. The hospital gave me semi-solid food that first day...cream of chicken soup, Jello, Protein drink (which I loved!)...but some of that is not on the post op diet i was verbally told to follow by my doctor's office...and that post op diet was not the same as the one in the notebook my doctor's office gave me, or in the nutritionists' guidelines. I was sleeved on 12-23, and for me, I found that I cannot do much in the way of dairy: so the sugar-free instant breakfasts are a no-go. I made a fantastic cream of broccoli with cheese soup today that is utterly wonderful. To be honest, some of my concerns really did deal with hunger and nutirition. I lvoe the sleeve, don't get me wrong...but I weighed 237 pounds on 12-13 when I started that pre-op diet, and yesterday I got on the scale and was 217. The hunger was real. i am glad to lose the weight, but losing it this fast (at my age) is going to end up making me look like the crypt keeper. Anyhow, I guess the point of this rant is that I am slowly and cautiously finding out what my body needs/wants and can absorb. I have looked all over the web, and the fact is that there are MANY recommended post-op diets for sleevers. I am slowly & carefully seeing/finding what works for me. I can take direction, but when that direction is conflicted or confusing...I need to use the structurre I was given and fidn what works for me...just my 2 cents worth for today. Peace y'all. -
