Is there anyone from UK
craftycaz replied to craftycaz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 4 months post surgery now, I have lost 5st 6lbs and have eventually got permission from my doctor to go back into the gym. I had a 5mile walk recently and amazed myself that I actually done it. Onwards and upwards x -
Spicy food anyone?
craftycaz replied to jackiemc1987's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am gutted because I cannot tolerate anything - even black pepper causes me to have acid reflux -
I was on an 800 calorie eating plan for 2 weeks pre op and lost 10lbs. I am 5 weeks post surgery have lost a total of 3 stones. For the last week I have suffered from bad acid reflux and my nutritionist said I am eating too much. I have gone back to eating with a teaspoon and 150ml, or 150gm of food and still no better and it's painful.

Soreness around incision site and stomach 10 days post op?
craftycaz replied to Heatherhere1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not been on pain meds since day 4 because they were making me sick, but no chance on the driving etc until my stomach muscles have healed properly inside. I have also been told no citrus flavours in anything, so no diluting juice etc that has lemons, limes, or oranges in -
I was sleeved on 3rd February, I am doing really well and have only been sick once after eating tuna!. I was normally always hot and even in winter I could wear shorts and tshirts indoors. This is not the case now, indoors I have found hat I need to wear socks, long trousers and sometimes 2 tshirts. Whenever I go to bed the electric blanket can be on but my feet are still freezing cold. Please tell me that it's not just me and it gets better xx ????

Thank you, glad I am not imagining it, my husband says I don't feel cold but omg I feel as if my feet have been in the freezer

Soreness around incision site and stomach 10 days post op?

How long were you sleeved before you drove? I have been told 3 months before I can drive, go to the swimming pool or gym. -
It sounds as if you are having mental hunger pangs rather than actual hunger pangs. I am 8 days out and for the first 6 I experienced the same, although I was in hospital for all that time and there was no option but to wait on meal times. Try and find something to do, or take on more water/liquid to settle or work through them, good luck xx

One week later - back to work!
craftycaz replied to BloomingLotus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 1 week ago and only allowed out of hospital today. My whole abdomen is black with bruising. I am nearly at 40oz fluid, and meals are soup and jelly with plenty of beef tea in between. Since starting my pre-op until yesterday I have lost 25.5lbs and am really chuffed with that loss. 11lbs has been since I was sleeved x -
Freaking Out Just a Little! I have a surgery date! February 2nd.
craftycaz replied to LisaLou30's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also 2nd feb, I find it mad that most cases in USA are pre surgery diet is liquid, I am in UK and I can eat, albeit it's only 800 calories a day, it is however doable. Nothing from 10pm the evening before surgery, and starting my pre op diet on Wednesday -

Brilliant, my surgery team said I should go to a slimming club and get weighed every week, I am a bit loathe to pay £5 a week to stand on the scales though. Let me know when you eventually find out your loss, exciting times xx -

Brilliant advice, thank you. This may sound crazy but I had a bucket list of 10 food/snack items that I wanted to eat before I couldn't eat them ever again. No 10 is my christmas dinner lol. On Boxing Day I am on a 'cut all crap' out of my diet. We only ever cook from scratch in our house but it was sweet things that are my nemesis. We have done our 'new' food shop and there are no biscuits etc in the house. I should start to lose weight soon, and that should also please the surgery team xx -

I have other medical problems, and long term it was cheaper to do the surgery than treat the other bits if that makes sense. I had a chat with the surgeon and had to convince him to do the sleeve rather than the bypass. I need to have my gallbladder removed and if he done the bypass then it could not be done with keyhole. I suppose I am excited and nervous at the same time, only because it's all happening so fast. -

I have had my funding approved, and the surgeon said yes, so it's just the waiting game for a date now. I am hoping for a date in January but need to do my pre op checks first x -
