  1. @@annebqui I eat half of an Atkins bar at a time. They can give me a bit of an upset stomach but are great when I really want a sweet treat and they have protien in them.
  2. Eating is definitely a challenge. I used to love food. Now I loathe it. For Breakfast I usually have a protien shake (premier protien - at room temperature). lunch was cottage cheese with fruit. I had an Atkins chewy bar for a snack. dinner is the hardest and not sure what I am going to have but I can say that most meats do not sit well with me. I have spent a lot of time in the bathroom throwing up what didn't go down the right way. Last night I made salmon. My family loved it and I couldn't bear to smell it, let alone put it in my mouth. My current preferred protien is cottage cheese and eggs are not very tasty to me. Salads are ok as long as there is no meat and they are baby greens. And I know I am supposed to be having more Snacks but it just hasn't worked out that way with my work schedule! I started at 235 and I am down to 209, currently. I can't wait to lose some more.

I had those same problems and it takes time. I found the sugar free Popsicles were great. I don't love good like I used to but started doing much better once I was soft foods. Things I used to like I just don't any more. The first week is THE hardest. You can do it!

    where did you sleep?

And I slept in my bed! Found sleeping on my side was most comfortable for my healing tummy!

    where did you sleep?

I had moderate pain. The first 24 hours were extremely uncomfortable. I needed my IV meds regularly. It is best to stay ahead of your pain so ask for the meds when you start feeling uncomfortable in the hospital. It will take them atleast 20 minutes to get you your meds...if they aren't too busy. The nurses can be slow. I took my pain meds at home for about 10 days. My surgery was 12/15 (almost 4 weeks) and I am great but still have a little tummy tenderness.

    Change of heart?

I actually know someone who did have it reversed because her abdominal discomfort was terrible and she was constantly sick with stomach cramps and struggled with receiving nutrients. Yes, it can be reversed but I do think that the circumstances have to be extreme. Personally, this is one of the reasons why I picked the RNY. The sleeve permanently parts with a portion of your stomach.

    Gastric Bypass VS Sleeve

I was 232 and 5 feet, 6 inches. I chose it because: Even though it is not advertised, it can be reversed. With the gastric sleeve, they are removing a portion of your stomach...forever. Long term results are better. It's been around for a long time. I needed to part with you lifelong crack cocaine like addiction to sugar. Hopefully for life.

    Feeling a little down.!

You may need to step up your cardio and track your food, especially carbs.
  10. My father had his toe amputated 4 days after my surgery. Needless to say, I understand. My doctor encouraged me to nap frequently and that I may be more tired due to the stress but that my effort needed to be focused on rest and nutrition. Praying for you!
  11. I had my surgery 12/15, I've lost 17 pounds so far. So...I am not sure if anyone else is having this problem but food tastes good to me for about a minute and then the thought of it makes me nauseous. I made eggs, refried beans, a little cheese, and salsa on day one and it was delicious. Had it one more time and could hardly stomach it. Couldn't wait to make baked ricotta, was delicious for one serving, now it's completely disguisting to me. Strong smells are getting to me. The idea of pureed meat is a total turn off to me. I am on the soft food diet for another week and a half. Any meal ideas?
  12. Spicy food will be by trial and error. Currently, I have terrible stomach cramps from eating spicy Mexican. Each person's tummy can tolerate different things. Basically, red meat is high in protein and fat, both of which are very difficult for the stomach to digest. Here is a more detailed article: http://whfoods.org/genpage.php?tname=dailytip&dbid=75
  13. ...and difficult digestion can cause terrible stomach cramps...take it from someone who thought one bite of the Christmas Ham wouldn't hurt! (It did by the way)
  14. It is most likely because red meat/pork is harder to digest. I did make turkey meatballs which were delicious. If you can tolerate the swap out, you should be fine but you will probably have to cook at home.
  15. Hi All! Question for you... I had my bypass of 12/15 and I have lost 14 pounds so far but the strangest thing is that my jeans are still snug around my belly? Anyone else have this issue?

    Regret?

My most difficult moments are actually around dinner time. That is when I miss real food the most. I have lost 14 pounds so far so I am trying to keep focused on what is healthy. The change is so much bigger than what I ever could have imagined.
