    Post op diet

Wow...you all were lucky....but I don't understand why you are not on a liquid diet for the next two weeks. You stomach is healing, and what if you were to get an infection from the foods you are eating. Maybe this is why I have a great outcome so far. Hummmmm Annamarie

    Clothes shopping

Evening. GOODWILL is my favorite store right now. Until I am completely done loosing weight, I refuse to buy clothes, spending bookoo money, then knowing in a few weeks it will be too big. I just bought 12 shirts for summer,,,,,,total $14.00......................... Oh Yeah, Goodwill

    Mental

Morning. I, too, was a hugh sweet craver....... I have learned it is MIND over MATTER. It is MY responsibility to keep those sweets out of my mouth. I try the sugar-free items, but really don't like Aspartame. So, I keep DARK chocolate chips and only have a few just to get over the craving. But I also make sure i have Water nearby to get that sweetness taste out of my mouth. Once my craving is done, I am done. Great job on the Weight loss.............Keep it up............Remember the sugary items turn into fat and then you start right back at the beginning. Have a sparkling day
  4. Been there done that...........still haven't tried tuna since. I am almost 5 months out. May try again at 6 months...............but not going through that again.

    Exercise after surgery

When I went to my 2-month f/u appointment, I was able to do more exercise. Absolutely NO stomach crunches or strengthening becasue of the surgery. They stated after 6 months, you can do more with your stomach. This is due to the fact that it is major surgery and gives time to heal 100%. Walking is great anyway...plus with warmer weather we all weill be walking more

    Salad

Morning. I am 4 months out and still cannot eat a salad or tuna fish. I can, however, finally eat mayonnaise. Take your time and don't rush it. You have a new baby tummy. Would you have given a baby Peanut Butter this early? Think that way. Have a sparkling day
  8. Morning....... Week 1-2 ...... Clear Liquids Only Week 3-6 ....... Soft Mushy/pureed foods Week 7-on ...... Try small amounts of food, one at a time. You have a brand new baby tummy. Think of it that way. You can only start like that. When you feed a baby, you only give little bites at first and then a month or two down the road, you try another type of food. Ohhh....don't be afraid to try new foods, your palate is different now and it is really cool the foods you will try. DRINK Water, PLENTY OF WATER
  9. Morning. I never drank a Protein drink after surgery, It was disgusting!!! I made sure I drank enough Water, ate 2 teaspoons every two hour of some soft mushy food, which is what you should be on and nothing more. Exercise, I would wait until after your 2 month f/u with your provider. Your stomach is still healing. Breathe....Relax.....weight will come off............stop rushing it.........and oh yeah, STAY OFF THE scale because it will only depress you................... Annamarie

    St Petersburg FL

Evening. It doesn't matter what type of restaurant you go to. Most will let you order off the children's menu if you just ask and explain. I have had no problems here in CT. Just ask. Most will do what you need. Plus you can always ask for things to be removed from your order that you do not want/need. Have fun in Florida

    Possible blood clot?

Afternoon. That is not a blood clot. I have this also. It is actually a Vericose Vein. Nothing you can do about it. Insurance will not pay for it to be fixed. All they do is inject a solution that will constrict the vein. As long as there is no pain or discomfort, there really is nothing that can be done. The only reason it is showing up now is because you are loosing weight and all the extra fat that was in our legs covered it up. It if were a blood clot, your leg would be swollen, red, and very hot to the touch. Hope this relieved your ambition. Annamarie

    Saggy skin concern

HI. Hope your Easter was a good one. Here are some simple things to remember. 1. You are becoming healthier, who cares about extra skin. I would rather have the skin, then be 6 feet under the ground. 2. Drink lots/lots/lots of Water. This keeps your skin hydrated and healthy. If your mom has/had healthy skin, you will follow in her footsteps. My mom's skin was beautiful. I will be 50 and seriously do not look older than 40. 3. Yes, exercise. But be care to only TONE not weight lifting as this gives you muscle mass and weighs more. I have the skin under my arms. But I cannot afford $5,000 for an arm lift, and insurance will nto pay for this. I have loose skin on my legs, I just have to get use to it because, again, no way I can afford to have it removed. As for my stomach, I really didn't have a stomach so there is not much there. Mine was mostly in my Ass and Thighs. But again, I am healtheri and can run and play with my grand-daughter.

    3 week stall

Morning.... Remember your body is still going thorough adjustments. So what you are not loosing weight right at this time. Hopefully you are not going on a scale daily and then becoming more discouraged. As long as you are following your surgeons/dieticians' instructions, then you will be fine. I am 4 months out and have only lost 1 pound in 2 weeks. This just means my body is ready for me to do more working out than just walking. Now it is up to me to make this happen. Just breathe.......Relax........Step on a scale once a week.............and remember to write down what you eat because even though you think you may or may not be eating enough calories, you may be doing more or less than you should. Hope this helps....remember we are all in the same situation and have been in your situation. Hope your Easter was a good one. !
  14. With the MVI, it could be the brand you are taking. Try a different one. Try one that does NOT have aspartame or an artificial sugar in it. I take my MVI one in the morning and one in the evening. The B-12, you should only take after you have eaten a meal. Try taking this one alone. I was taking it in the morning and was making me nauseous, so I started taking after my lunch and it helped. Hope this helps. Happy Easter

6 weeks out and not losing

Evening to all I had my surgery on 11/21/14. To date I have lost 72 pounds. How are you all eating? What are you all eating? Did you follow what your surgeon/dietitian stated? 1-2 weeks after surgery: liquids only 2-6 weeks after surgery: mushy/pureed foods 6 weeks (+) - gradually try foods slowly. I was, and still am, eating only 2 teaspoons every 2 hours. I try, and I mean try, to get the Water in by their standards, and I cannot. I do, however, only drink 1/2 hour before a meal or 1/2 hour after a meal. I have not started working out yet but I do walk at least 30 minutes per day. I am only 4 months and still do not take in 800 calories. They tell me to do what my body states. As for the scale; I only get on this one time a week. The more you go on it, the more depressed you will become if you do not loose weight. As for those who are 100 or more pounds over weight, everyone looses weight differently. My favorite quote from my surgeon is: I did surgery on your stomach not your brain. In order to make it work, I have to do the work. We all have to work towards our goal. Do not get discouraged or upset because you are not loosing. Just look at what you are eating (hopefully you are using a book and writing down what you eat), this helps. You will loose the weight as long as YOU do the WORK. Keep your heads up, and your energy going. You will do it, because you already worked to hard to get this far. Happy Easter !!!
  16. 4 months post-surgery and OMG my hair is really falling out. Why? I was told I eat enough Protein, I drink my Calcium, I take my Vitamins and also take my Biotin. I am ready to shave my head and see what happens. Any ideas besides the shampoo w/Biotin in it..... Thanks..............

    HAD SURGERY 3/31/15

Well, Congrats !!!! My sleeve was performed on 11/21/14 and to date lost 72 pounds. Just remember to take it one day at a time. You will not loose weight in 3 days. It too you however many years to put the weight on, and will take a good year to remove what you are willing to work for. Breathe and relax, enjoy this ride. I did not notice any difference until maybe 1-2 months into my weight loss. Your body needs to adjust, you need to adjust. The only real good advice I can give to you is: Your surgeon performed surgery on your stomach, not your brain. It is up to you to work hard to get what you want in this new beginning. I am proud that you took the first step. It is not easy, but once you get into a routine, you will love the new you. Annamarie....... My email is : acwikla05@yahoo.com if you ever need to talk.
  19. HI.... We just had a support group on this issue. What we were told is if you are exercising and are able to carry on a conversation, then you need to up your routine and increase the speed. Also, you need to make sure you are taking in enough calories to cover what you are loosing while exercising, otherwise your body is eating the fat that is stored, and you will not loose weight. If you are buring a 1200 calories at a workout, you need to make sure you take in more than that in proteins/etc. Change what you are doing, and you should see results again. Walk, Walk, Walk............Water, Water, Water.........
  20. Hi... I had my surgery on 11/21/14. I have already gone to restaurants and also family funcitons. I eat the way I am suppose to, and it does not bother the others I am with. when I go to the restaurant, I eat slowly so it looks like I am eating along with my friends. It is no big deal. As for the drinking, I got use to drinking 1/2 hour before I would go out to dinner. Then 1/2 hour after eating. Most of my friends do not drink with their meals anyways, so it was no big deal. You just eat like you normally would.....just smaller bites. Enjoy this beautiful day !!!

2 Days Post Open Severe Nausea

If she is throwing up, this is not a good sign and does not want this happening as can tear the staples they used. If her surgeon won't do anything, i would definately go to the nearest ER and they may have to use IV to help stop the nausea and also to help get fluids in.

Post-op day 3 and no weight loss?

Morning. Three days......be patient. Your body is still full of the gas that was put there to help with the surgery. You are still swollen and healing. You will really not see any weight change until a month out. Your body needs to adjust. Be patient, breathe, and enjoy this ride. If you have that fear you will fail...........then you most likely will. You need to change that outlook. Be positive, know that this is a new life change. Your surgeon did surgery on your stomach not your brain. You will need to do alot of work. I have love 71 pounds total (not including what I lost prior to surgery). I had my surgery on 11/21/14. Just make sure you drink and do what you are told for food/drinks. If you cannot handle the Protein drinks, then so be it. I have not had a Protein Drink, since pre-surgery. I had my labs drawn and my protein levels are amazing. Just remember first two weeks is liquids only so that your stomach can heal, then into the mushy foods for the next 3-6 weeks, after that you introduce small amounts of food into you new baby tummy. Take your time, you will not starve. You will see the weight come off the way it is suppose to. I remember the first food I ate after I was allowed, was only 2 teaspoons of oatmeal. Was the most amazing food. Even today, I eat every 2 hours and only about 2-3 teaspoons. I feel full. I drink my Water, or hot cocoa. I do eat alot of cheese and foods with protein in them more than carbs. Remember, your stomach is a baby stomach, eat exactly like a baby would. Just be patient, you will do fine. And remember.....we were all in your shows at one time. Have a sparkling day ................ Annamarie

    Eggs 7 days postop

Morning. The reason they have you on clear liquids for 2 weeks afterwards is because your stomach is still healing. If you put food into your new stomach, those tiny pieces could get lodged into where the sutures are and cause infection. Also, this is the time where they find if there is a leak. You should do what your surgeon told you to do. If you become ill by infection, then now you have caused a bigger problem. so would eggs be worth that pain.
