Hello Everyone. My name is Annamarie. I live in Colchester, CT. I started my Weight-loss journey back in April, 2014. My surgery was on November 21, 2014. To date, I have lost 48 pounds and right now am on the mushy food portion.
The reason I had the surgery was because I was on an EMT call, I had to hold c-spine on a patient. I was put in a corner and when I had to get up, it took three men to lift me off the floor. It was embarrassing and humiliating. At that point, I realized that I needed to get myself in a healthier position in order for me to help others.
I have two friends who at the gastric bypass over ten years ago, two friends who had the lap-band 1-2 years ago, and my sister also had the Sleeve Gastrectomy back in August, 2014. So you can see I have had many before me who have successfully become healthier.
I attend monthly support groups faithfully and enjoy every minute. I have no problem sharing my experiences even though I am brand new. Whereas most had a wonderful experience after surgery, I did not. I ended up staying two nights in the hospital, I had a high fever and it was hard waking me up and keeping me up. I ended up with Thrush and had to be put on two different meds to clear it. I also had horrible pain when drinking my liquids.
I am looking forward to having more support through this site. This site was giving to us at one of our monthly support group.
