December 29th band to sleeve conversion. Looking for a buddy
CanyonBaby replied to lynziv's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have not had a conversion, just the sleeve surgery on Dec. 3, 2014. I hope I can help with some of your questions, from my own experiences. First, the reason for the preop diet of liquids is to reduce the size of the liver so the surgeon can see better to do the surgery. If you've already lost weight, they may feel you have no need to do that. They will be putting you on liquid diets, pureed diets and soft food diets before you go back to normal food after the surgery, which can be challenging if you're not patient enough to wait them out. My surgery came with the surprise of a hiatal hernia repair done at the same time. Very minor pain compared to most of the surgeries I've had. Five little scars. Healed quickly and well. Lost 25lbs so far, I only weigh in once a week. I live in Washington, but would be happy to help if you need more questions answered. Good luck and Merry Christmas! -

You are doing great! Awesome, in fact. You can be the success story, her not so much from the sounds of it. You are obviously on track and have a mission for your mission! Maybe just ask if she needs help, she may really need it and say yes, or it may just shut her up. Good luck to you and Merry Christmas! -

Just HAVE to say this - I think you're NUTS! No, seriously, it's a good idea - any little tricks are worth their weight in gold - thanks... -
I was wondering if there were any VSGers from the Spokane, Washington area? I had my surgery Dec. 3, 2014 and would like to see if anyone in my area has had the same, and would like to communicate?

Massive Headache , could I be dehydrated?

No matter what else you do, keep sipping. Nag yourself over it, I have to. I am terrible at getting enough in. I must always be drinking because I live in a dry house with little humidity and I think it is drying me out even faster than normal. This time of year there is little humidity in most parts of the countries houses, and I think we forget about that. Keep sipping! -

I have tried this repeatedly, not sure if it'll work this time or not, if not oh well. Thanks for the help. -
Maybe focus on good things like a new wardrobe? I had my surgery Dec 3 2014, and even though it was recent, I am planning what I will be wearing in spring, summer...even though that sounds trite, it is a positive focus, and gets my mind off the pounds. I also am (for the FIRST TIME IN YEARS-I needed to emphasize that) actually LIKING what I see in the mirror! I can SEE the results, whereas when I would lose weight in the past, it was so slow I couldn't actually see the results. This is happening so fast I CAN see it! Find joy in your success, no matter how slow it may seem, it is not, as the previous writers have stated. God Bless and Merry Christmas!

Why Do So Few BP Members Have Weight Tickers?

OK. I admit it. I am one of those who doesn't know how to cut and paste. I have minimal computer skills, and no one to show me how to do things. I live in a very rural area, and don't have access to computer classes. I know there are others out there like me, who are all alone (my husband doesn't know about this stuff, either, and we haven't any children). Since I am new to this state, I haven't any friends. I am hoping to find some via this site? -
Have you ever thought the new you might be intimidating him? Showing that you are strong enough to go through all you have to get to this point, plus not waiting for his permission to do it all may just have taken the wind out of his sails! You have shown you have taken control over your life, and he may not be comfortable with that. Besides, do you really care what he thinks? I can guarantee that someone who does have a valuable opinion is looking, it just may not be obvious.
