@@MrsSugarbabe Thanks! I think we all have these days, these moments when everything just seems to fall apart. Especially when we try SOOOO hard to keep it together, keep ourselves on point. When my husband comes home from work, everything kinda goes to the wind, and things (especially my plan for the day) goes out the window. I forget to do this, do that, take this, eat that, and everything is just kittiwampas. By the end of the day I'm a mess, I've forgotten to take meds, Vitamins.....and then I get upset, more from NOT being in control than anything. But it's not HIS fault, it's mine. I'm still so new to this way of living, of eating, of SURVIVING the day. I need to turn this madness around. It is because we are so impulsive about his days off, and we never know what may interject itself into our day (he IS a cop), so we never know how the day is to go. Drives me nuts, sometimes. He has to retire in 4 years, and I'm looking forward to that! WHAT IS A NORMAL LIFE???! I so look forward to checking this site everyday, you all help ME soooo much, you have NO idea!!! Thank YOU for YOUR support!
  2. @@missheidi47 I'd love to hear what they say about this, if you don't mind sharing! All of these tidbits sure help in our successes!

    I'm Having a Breakdown

This emotional rush is, in my opinion, NEVER gone over enough (if at all) with so many WLS patients, and the teams who are there to prepare us for this should really send this point home, as well as the hair loss, stalls...... I see a lot of touting the surgery for benefits such as the obvious weight loss, disease improvements............., but they don't seem to tell us what to expect that SOOOOO many of us endure following the surgery. Maybe they think it will scare folks off, but REALLY, we're made of stronger stuff than that!!! Just be honest, surgical teams, and lay down the goods (or not-so-goods), so we can truly prepare for the nasties that get to us following surgery. RANT over, for now! Most of us have been through what you are going through, and it will pass. Get a BIG box of Kleenex (the really soft ones!), a few really good movies, a craft or two to keep your hands busy while watching said movies, and keep you computer on so we can be there for you! Bless you, dear one....

@@Luvin_Life125 I really need to watch how many pills I take each day, not too friendly with the sleeve! So chewables and powders are ok with me, and liquids as a LAST RESORT, as for some reason, the sleeve isn't fond of that, either! I take so darn many pills for everything else, it's amazing there is even room for food! I wish we could combine all we need into a great cookie or something, something ENJOYABLE to take, that is custom designed for each of our individual needs. Something that is slow to digest, so all is absorbed nicely, with no competing elements...impossible, I know, but it is a pipe-dream of mine....any inventors out there want to give it a go?!!!

How to SUCCESSFULLY find the "One" for you!

@@jacileggs The most important thing to remember is to totally TRUST that He will do this for you, and be patient enough to wait Him out!!! And don't be surprised, sometimes what you have been waiting for is right before your eyes, and has been there all along. Best wishes to you....

    Vitamins

I guess I am confused! If the doctor prescribed the B12 nasal spray, isn't that what you should do? You can get dissolvable B12 OTC, or pills, but if suggested the spray, that's what I would do.
  8. @@missheidi47 Yeah, I talked with my Dietician about this, as well, last time I saw her in March. When I asked about the Protein drinks "washing out" of the system, she said that the fluids will not "washout" until all the nutrients were absorbed. So the nutrient value would be utilized. Like surgeons, I guess all dieticians have their opinions! It's probably best to spread out the protein throughout the day, instead of in one or two mass in-takings. I try to do that, anyway, but it makes you wonder why they make the Protein Drinks with higher protein values if it isn't going to be absorbed. Kinda like Vitamins - just "peed" out!

@B Autumn I don't think of it as "failure", because to me failure means you have given up the fight. From what you have written, I don't get that you have given UP the fight, but maybe you are TIRED of the fight. Lots of things on your plate right now, for sure. How would we normally "clean" our plate? By eating one thing at a time, not the WHOLE plate! Everyday you chisel away at the things that seem will never go away, but they ARE! Things slowly improve, and time goes by. But remember one VERY important thing....God NEVER gives us more than we can handle, you just need to rely on Him more to help you, or even to take the task from you. But you have to 1. ASK! 2. LET HIM! He wants to help, but many times we take that task back, sometimes over and over again. Can't do that! TRUST Him to do it, and LET Him do it. You, of course, will have your part to do, and it may be very difficult, but you are NOT alone! All He wants is the best for us, He loves us, and wants us to lean on Him. He WANTS to help! LET HIM!!!! Write anytime, I'm here!

Feel the need to go "Hog Wild"

The only thing I REALLY wanted before the surgery, that I knew was going to be out the question AFTER the surgery was soda, I had to have my Coke, even though it was diet-only, I could never get enough of that stuff! Everything else I was told I could have in moderation, so there was no food-funeral, really. But I sure miss my sodas, not the taste, but the bubbles! For some reason, it is just very thirst-quenching for me. No matter how cold I have my beverages now, it just doesn't cut it. And, I miss my hard apple cider! Bubbles again! I guess a bubble bath will have to do!!!

How to SUCCESSFULLY find the "One" for you!

That is SOOOO awesome, I just love hearing about these things! If people would just trust the One who made them, and be WILLING to wait for things to work out, they would be very surprised! Sometimes these things DO take time, afterall, there are a lot of factors involved. For example, take my "dream house". It was built 12 years ago. I had to wait for 2 families to move in and out of it, have the job in the area, have the financing available.....so many things go into it. Same thing with a spouse, I had been married prior, my now-husband lived across the country, we were born on opposite sides of the country, my job took me all over the country, as did his...just finding each other was a miracle!!! Lots of things go into all of this, how could it POSSIBLY be done? How can all of this come together? Only by the Good Lord above, who not only has His plan in place, but works it out no matter HOW we humans throw it curve balls! Onto "Happily Ever After"!!!!!

@B Autumn Oh, I wish I could give you a hug, 'cuz I think you need one right now! Of course we care so much that when something goes out of our control, we seem not to be able to do anything about it. Then, because something NEEDS to be done, it comes out in a way that isn't necessarily healthy! Grazing. Snacking. Eating improperly. ALL of the above? Probably. For lots of us. You are NOT, as you have read above, ALONE! So how do we go about dealing with this? Maybe an idea would be to schedule things out a bit. Have your day SOOOO scheduled, you have to immediately go from one task to another, with no time in between for snacking. Write the schedule down, if you have to. Maybe do this just during the times of day you find yourself reaching for food. Carry the schedule with you, so there is no excuse for deviation. When you get yourself trained to follow this schedule, you should find little, if any, time to eat mindlessly. If you have to eat something, have an array of legitimate Snacks on hand, and go for those first. But keep to the schedule, and have those snack times PLANNED. YOU are now training your mind AND tummy when to eat, when to be hungry. But you have to be diligent about staying on the schedule. Don't deviate from it. Immediately go on to the next task at hand. And if you're a woman of faith, go ahead and have that conversation with the Lord, all day long, whenever you need extra support. He, too, is always with you! And you can call on Him at ANY time and He'll be there. I sure hope this helps, I'm on YOUR team! Take care and have a good evening!

@B Autumn I crochet, as well. I'm trying to focus on more challenging, but SMALL projects, so I can finish them in a reasonable amount of time. That way it doesn't get boring. I also sew, curtains mostly (did you know you can change the whole look of your house with new curtains?!), and I do calligraphy, quilting, and drawing. Always busy! Try a new craft, one that you will look forward to doing the minute you think about it!

  16. @@Idonerds Ok. My husband is a cop, so I'll give you his advice. How many times has this person followed you? Get a good description, try to get a license number, and if it is repeated, call the police. Do not stop for the car, even if he hits you, just drive to the police station. If he follows you again, if you can, drive to the police station. Do not confront the person. If you have more concerns, call your local police to ask for their advice. You are in my prayers, and good luck to you!

1 step forward, 2 steps back

So a few questions, if you don't mind? Have you had your back re-evaluated recently? How about disc replacement, or spinal fusion? How about laproscopic surgery? Then onto a different tangent; have you tried a Sleep-Number bed? I have one, and the fact that I can adjust it to suit my spine is very helpful. There a lot of different options with this bed, including the ability to raise it to a sitting position, a heating/cooling full length pad, optional extra cushioning pads...the list goes on. Now, some folks HATE them. It took me quite awhile to find my perfect "number", and that can change daily, depending on my back or hips. Just some ideas, I hope you can find some relief soon....

Muscle Soreness 3 Mos Post Op

So what are you doing for the soreness? Taking hot baths? How about a heating pad? I have a great mattress pad warmer that gently warms the bed, thus easing my arthritic back through the night. Since I can't take the N-Saids as much as I used to before the surgery, the pad really helps a lot. What did he say about stretching? Maybe try a heating pad before bed, it is said the extra heat stimulates healing. But not too hot. And only for 10 minutes or so. Good luck to you, I hope you feel better soon!

    ANXIETY MEDS

He may be right about that, but do you WANT him to be right about it? I am a firm believer in taking control of myself, especially emotions. I HAVE TO, I am married to a cop. Things for me can get really out of control in a hurry. So, first thing for me to rely on is my faith. Second is me. I can handle this. I CAN. Find a hobby that you can go to and DO when things start to get rough. Make it a FUN one, one you can look forward to, that gives you a peaceful feeling when you do it. I crochet. I love the way the yarn feels, stitching calms me down. It gives me something to focus on that has absolutely NO negativity associated with it. IT CALMS ME. Calm is good. You CAN do this, You can wean yourself. You CAN do this! Talk to us, we're here for you!

Find a hobby! Keep busy, find something to DO. DOING interrupts food cravings. And get some sugar-free popsicles for those "I gotta have something NOW" moments! Good luck to you!
  21. Are you married? Are you looking? A smile, then a "I can't be bothered" look usually does it for me! If your not ready for that kind of attention, and you're NOT married, consider getting a ring for yourself, to be taken off when the RIGHT one comes along! ENJOY this time; as we get older, the looks get less frequent!

    Serious Stall

How about going back to a pre-op diet? And throw a bunch of sugar-free popsicles in there when you need to crunch and chew? When I stall, I go back to Protein shakes for 2 meals a day, then the popsicles in between when I NEED something. Then, as I get to thinking about eating, I go and start or finish a project. Like today, I need to bake for my husband who gets home tomorrow.....I can't stand the smell of the baking anymore, so I don't eat it, and can get away with doing this treat for him. Then I have to attack the craft room - we recently moved into this house - and it is a mess. Something to do. How many times I read on here that people are bored so they eat. NO! Do something. Anything. Get your mind off of it!!! My basement is a disaster. Calling my name. Calling ME names....I can hear it now...........

Wow. I really changed a habit.

You are going to have GREAT looking legs! I need to start doing this, and not just to clean the litter box that is in my basement! Maybe I'll actually get the basement cleaned up, now!!! GREAT inspiration! Thanks!

    Chickening Out on TT

And in the meantime, there are some great clothing lines out there designed to help control that particular area of the body. One I like is "Women With Control" offered on QVC.com. There are control panels around the belly area that are pretty firm, yet give when they need to. They have pants. leggings, and my favorite of late- skorts! Supposedly guaranteed to stop the Jiggle! I'm ALL IN (in more ways than one!!!)!!! By the way...you are an inspiration for your fiscal responsibility...THANK YOU!

    Not telling anyone

I have one simple, easy answer to this: change the subject and talk about THEM! Steer the subject so it totally revolves around them, then you must "leave to attend to something else". It works, because people LOVE to talk about themselves. And you get to live your merry life in privacy, just as it should be!!!
