Anyone have trouble with med absorbtion?

It might be that they are flushing out too fast. Ask the Dr. that prescribed them for an alternative, and be diligent about paying attention to how the new ones are working. Also, talk with your surgeon about this - very important - to get both doctors on board about any changes, so they can commiserate and find the best solution for you. And don't wait too long, you don't want to suffer any ill-effects from not getting the proper dosage. Good luck to you!

    Unsupportive Mom :(

You have a rough enough road ahead of you, my dear, without all the added stress form the outside. Maybe reduce your time with mom for awhile, not avoid her, but be very "busy" while you get ready for this adventure. Make sure you have all your ducks in a row prior to the surgery, and don't have a "need" for mom to be there when you are recovering, or going through the more difficult times (stalls, depression, hair loss...) after the surgery. Those are going to be tough times, and you don't need the "I told you so's" during this time (you'll hear enough of that, I'm sure). So have your husband get prepared for fending her off during those times, saying things like "she's unavailable right now" or something to that affect. It is too bad people have to be this way, too bad for them. You WANT to share with those closest to you, but sometimes you can't. Self-preservation. Whatever you do, don't cave; you DO need to get ahead of this weight issue. The longer you hold off, the more difficult it can be. Good luck to you.
  3. Maybe it's time to get a different Dr. and have the sleeve you have checked out. Kind of a second opinion. Then you can discuss the RNY with the new Dr., to see if it will work for you. Good luck to you, dear one....

    Hi everyone!

The best thing you can do for yourself if you are questioning whether to have the surgery is pull back, research it as much as you can, talk with your doctor and get the REAL lowdown on all that is involved, including the after-surgery facts. Also read the posts on here that relate to what happens AFTER the surgery (hair loss, complications, dumping, loose skin, plastic surgery, the list goes on...). Use the search function in the upper right-hand corner of the page to help you. This is serious business, and will require you stick to the plan for success. If you don't follow the plan, you more than likely will regain the weight, and still have a tiny tummy. BE SURE before you commit! Good luck to you!

Trouble eating 9 weeks post op

This might help a little: try adding unflavored protein powder to tepid or cool (not cold) water. Add a few drops (to taste) water enhancer drops and mix really well. Another idea to help "prime" your new tummy, and ease your hernia repair a little is to drink a little tepid to warm (not hot) water first thing when you get up in the morning. Eat a few bites of very soft food to "prime" the tummy before eating firmer or hard/crunchy foods. I had the same issues, the same surgeries. These things were told to me by my dietician, and they REALLY helped me. Now, at 4 months out, I don't notice too much pain anymore with the hernia repair. My Dr. said it would take me about a year to fully recover from the hernia repair, as it was bad, and not to lift over 10lbs for that time. I hope this helps, and have a great evening!

    Sleeping/soiling Question

@@pinkbunies Good for you! I'm glad you have a Dr. that cares; that is a rarity in itself, unfortunately. I hope all this works for you, and have a great evening!

    Sleeping/soiling Question

Wow! A doctor replying on a weekend, let alone a Sunday! I AM impressed! And I'm so glad for you that he did, and about what he said. Sounds like you're on your way, and hopefully no more troubles for you! Here's a hint I use: Cottage cheese (1/2 cup) for my evening snack. Lots of protein, and no "problems"! All the best to you....

    Sleeping/soiling Question

Just checked out Amazon.com, they carry Depends and other brands. If you are a prime member, you can get them in 2-3 days. Found them in the Health and Personal Care section. I used similar items for different surgeries over the years when I couldn't get out of bed. They truly serve a purpose. Just a thought, are you getting in enough Protein? Protein tends to be constipating, so if you mix a protein with the Fiber (broccoli), it may help balance things out. Eat the protein first. I know the fiber-foods are filling, but protein is, also (very dense, thus takes a lot to digest it, so it also takes time to digest it --it will stay with you longer).

    Sleeping/soiling Question

It's good to have a couple of mattress covers, especially the water-proof kind. I think I would still change from broccoli to something else, just to SEE if it changes your situation. And I am NOT being insulting here, but maybe get some Depends for men, so you don't have to change the bedding so much. I think you can get them online if you want to keep it private. Have a good evening.

    Struggling 15 day liquid diet

If this is too difficult, it is good to give the surgery a second thought. It does NOT get easier, it is tough. Read what others have gone through and are going through. If you don't think you can do it, don't. It takes REAL STRENGTH to do this successfully, and STAY successful. Good luck to you both....

    FEELING CONFIDENT :-)

You are SOOOO awesome! SOOOO happy for you!

    Sleeping/soiling Question

I'm sorry to hear about your situation, unpleasant to say the least. Maybe try something other than broccoli. Are you eating the whole bag? It may be your problem. Did you already have surgery, then, and when if so? Do you have the problem at the same general time of night? If so, maybe set your alarm for say a half hour earlier, then use the restroom. And DEFINITELY call your Dr. about it. Good luck to you, sir.

    Liquid diet suggestions

@@Kindle I talked with (and brought the package to her) my dietician about GENEPRO, which she had never seen before. Apparently there really are no regulatory standards for these types of things, like any supplement, no testing or anything. She had wondered if the type of processing actually turned the Protein into an amino acid, as it is broken down so much (thus the 30g of protein in a 15g serving). Hard to say. I am using up what I have, have used it for a few months along with regular unflavored whey protein, with no negative results. It IS nice to have a smaller amount go in the glass, BUT using the regular stuff is ok by me, too, and I think a little cheaper. Hope you have a great day!

    Liquid diet suggestions

@@amacox I believe unjury has broth. You can add the unflavored Protein powder to anything liquid, it may be less expensive, too. Remember, unflavored DOESN'T mean it has no flavor, it tends to have kind of a creamy flavor, not really sweet, but not salty, either. It is just that they do not ADD flavor to it. It works well in coffee (decaf, of course!), cold drinks, Soup, broth, and I put it in cottage cheese, yogurt, scrambled eggs - anything wet. Make sure it has enough moisture, or it will clump. It will be cloudy and not very appealing to look at, but it does the job....just use a glass you can't see through!

I'm going to flip a lid!

Stop weighing and start MEASURING!!! Use a measuring tape for results that will tell of your success. The scale won't always do that!

    Liquid diet suggestions

@@amacox Just a hint, your taste buds MAY change their preferences AFTER your surgery. Many of us have had changes in this area. SO, don't buy TOO many until AFTER your surgery, taste them then, then determine if you still like them. Many people have reported getting nauseous from them, so beware spending lots of money PRE-surgery! costco usually carries Premier shakes. Have fun!
  19. Bless your heart, dear one. You have endured more than anyone should. EVER. But no more, because you're on your way! Now, read any and all posts that interest you, and will inform you as best as possible, because you need to be truly informed as to what you will be experiencing AFTER the surgery. Liquid diet suggestions

@@amacox I have tried the atkins shakes, and in my opinion...yuck. And they don't have a very high Protein content. If your looking for a higher protein content, Premier has 30g. I prefer unflavored Protein Powder, added to cold Water, mixed with Water Enhancer drops, as you can adjust the sweetness level, and have LOTS of flavor options while getting lots of protein. You can find unflavored protein powder by searching Amazon.com. Good luck to you!

Weight gain during 6mtg pre op diet

Since I really don't know the particulars of your situation, I would suggest you make sure you wear the same thing EVERY time you go in. Even shoes. And try to go a the same time every time you go there, eat the same, drink the same.....so you really have an accurate reading. And start taking measurements NOW, so you can show loss, even though the scales don't. Measure arms, neck, chest, waist, hip, thighs, and calves (anything else, anyone?!). Good luck to you on your journey!
