    Iodine

I was told to just let it come off on it's own, and it did, after 3 weeks. If it looks like it is starting to get red from the adhesion, call you surgical team for advice. Don't want any infections! Good luck to you!
  2. Pre-op: 2 weeks (to shrink the liver) Sugar- free popsicles....TONS of them!! They help with the crunch/chew thing you NEED to have! Supportive husband was and is an essential for me....kept me on track. Keeping my eye on the prize, knowing this was finally an answer to my prayers. ALOT of prayers! Good luck to you!

    Stalls - no complaints

Maybe kick-up the exercise by an extra hour or two a week. And maybe shift your eating a little bit. Try going back to a shake as a meal replacement once a day. Back to basics helps a lot of folks. Good luck to you! And congrats on the 58lbs!!!

Cold all the time post op day 10

This is totally normal. Many of us experience this, but now that summer is coming on, it should actually help us! Winter was bad for me, I was always bundled up in wool sweaters, flannels.... A nice heated mattress pad is wonderful for sleeping! Have a good evening!

    Hiatal. hernia

Yup. And it does take time to heal. When you first get up in the morning, try drinking tepid water to "gently" wake up your tummy. Then, when you start to eat regular food, eat a few bites of very soft food to start with, you are "priming" your tummy for the harder, crunchier foods. It does help a lot. My hernia repair won't allow me to lift more than 10lbs for a year, so take it easy on yours. Try not to lift anything heavy, and easy on the bending over! Good luck to you!

    When do you tell him?

@@blashlee Very valid point, the "dirty secret" thing! If you can't be open with the one you're most intimate with, who can you be honest with? I know we're only talking about dating someone, but like another poster suggested, if you don't tell about it, they may just be offended at the lack of trust when all this time during dating THEY were being open and honest with you. Might be the "jiggle that drops the kettle"! Worth the risk? Something to think about.....

    Meds for Plastics post Sleeve

Since your doctor is the DOCTOR, heed their advice. Lots of people have opinions, but no degree or expertise in the subject at hand. Your doctor has their reasons for their directions, and when we don't follow them, that is where troubles can start, and major complications. I imagine, since they are the experts and have done these surgeries before, they know what they are talking about. Otherwise, we would all be doing our own surgeries and have no need for these people who just happen to know how to save our bloody hides!
  10. @@bayougirlmrsc Insecurity is so sad, and so hard for the one's who live with the results of it. If you have a church, maybe you or you and your husband could visit with your minister about this? Both have to want a marriage to succeed, and both have to work at it. You seem to be all alone in this, and I am sorry about that. I am praying for you both. And here's YOUR mental hug for the day......hug.......

@@AELee Oh, yeah, there is hunger, HEAD HUNGER! One of the most difficult things in WLSer's life, and it is a pisser! Having newly been sleeved, you may not have it yet, but read all the posts about it, from all the folks who have had WLS. It is something to contend with, alright, and it is devilishly difficult to deal with. We have eaten for a lifetime, and developed a pattern for eating, and our minds are not going to let go of that easily. Sure, our tummies are full, but our heads say "where's the rest of it? You don't expect me to live on THAT, do you?"!!! It'll come, unfortunately, it'll come. How to deal with it? Change. Our thoughts, our habits, our lives. Not easy. NO WAY.

sugar-free popsicles. LOTS OF THEM!!! They give you crunch and chew. And you can have them! There are lots of good flavors out there, too. If this how you handle day one, what will it be like for you after the surgery? You can't get your stomach back. Period. Why are you doing this? What is your point, your goal? It is tough now, and it is going to get TOUGHER! For weeks, and maybe months. Reality check. Make 100 percent you want this for yourself, then get ahold of yourself and DO IT! You have lots of support here, and we who have gone through it know your suffering. But we got through it. We loved ourselves to do this for ourselves, enough to suffer for it. And we succeed! It is not an easy thing, and it is a life long endeavor. READ THE POSTS of everyone who has done it. We live this life for the REST of our lives. It is our future!
  14. Sorry, no experience in that area. I am also sorry for your suffering, and hopefully it is AT IT'S END!!!!! Let us know how you do, and good luck to you!

    6wks post and gaining. Gree

Just because you don't believe in something, doesn't mean it isn't true. Famous last words! What do you think your body would do if, indeed it is starving? And what is starving? To the body it is a massive reduction in nutrient intake, and that is what you have given it. And so it reacts to that by shutting down and conserving nutrients, sending them to the most vital organs. Thus hair loss. Thus skin dryness. Thus lack of energy. Thus, thus, thus... Respect the starvation, and how your body reacts to it. It will hold onto whatever it can to survive. It is not HAPPY with you. And it is nature.
  16. Ok. Now he's out of the hospital, and believe it or not, on the road to recovery! So let's start recovering! It's time to start looking forward, not backwards. Start making plans, for things he will soon be able to do, things that have been out of reach to this day. Don't allow "dwelling" to occur, launch into fast-forward! Have lots of hobbies (new ones, in necessary) on hand to keep his mind on fun things, positive things. To keep the mind off of eating. To keep the hands busy. Something he absolutely LOVES to do, perhaps things you two can do together. To stay positive! Make plans for the meals, for the eating of the meals, for the exercise, for the FUTURE! Start using (today!!!) a tape measure to account for weight loss (sometimes the scale is not so friendly, but the tape measure is!!!), so he can SEE his progress...nothing like progress to encourage you to find more progress! Make goals, small ones, easy to advance to. And plod along. There WILL be down times, but they WILL pass, as everything does. Always look to the future, ALWAYS!!!! Bless you both on your new adventure!
  17. The thing is to realize this is not a "quick fix", it is a lifelong endeavor. If you read the posts on this site, you will read of many people regaining weight after the surgery. You WILL lose weight after the surgery, but you WILL have to work to keep it off. Not so easy. It is a very valuable tool you either use or ignore. And it IS permanent. But for me, it was a lifesaver. No regrets here. Take some time, read HUNDREDS of the posts so you know what is coming, the good, the bad, and the DOWNRIGHT ugly! It's all there! Good luck to you.

    Looking for a buddy

You can always write to me, I usually check this site twice a day, if I'm not out of town. I was sleeved on 12/3/14, and am down 55 lbs, and I am 53. You can message me by clicking on my logo, if you want. So far you've done the best thing you can do for your body, and that is give it a future! Good luck to you!

    always feel sick

Yeah, it's normal! You have thrown a lot at your body, and it needs time to adjust, and right now we're having a bit of a "temper tantrum"! It LIKED the way it was, and you have put a stop to it, so it is rebelling. Things will ease up over time (everyone is different, and so is their timing), so be patient. So many expect a "quick fix" and recovery, but this is a major deal you've just done, and 4 weeks is too soon for a full recovery. Slow and easy, and maybe try eating and drinking things that are room temperature, so your body accepts them more readily. Especially water. When you first eat, try eating a couple of bites of very soft food, to "temper" the tummy for what's to come. Space out the bites, and let the new "baby" get used to what she has to eat today! It only gets better from here, so look forward to that!

    Today

Bless you on your new journey! And safe surgeries to all.....
  21. In my opinion, CeraVe cream (in the BIG tub), found at Walmart (and other places) is the best for this. They have many other products as well, including a moisturizer with sunscreen. It is very inexpensive (around $16...HUGE tub), and one application in the morning....AWESOME!!! When you wash at night, you will STILL feel it! I use it at night, as well. I am 53, and have used EVERYTHING out there over the years, and this exceeds all. I could bathe in it!!!!

    HELP?

It's acid, my dear, acid. Ask your surgical team if a PPI is right for you, if you're not already on one, or if upping the dosage is ok. ASK, first!!!!!
  24. Remember (no matter WHAT the media says), there is no price tag for life. Life is a gift, to be treasured and valued above any THING. How much are we willing to pay (doesn't mean we have the $), for a healthy life? Just a provoking thought.....
  25. My NUT has recommended Benefiber (I use the Shopko brand, much cheaper). It works well, and keeps everything regular. No issues at all. Just mix it in water or other beverage. It is clear and flavorless. You won't know it's there. Use it everyday, keeps you on track. Good luck to you!
