hey Phyllser, SO sorry to hear about your aunt. I'm going to share with you the best advice I have ever been given that will apply to any situation. Always remember, God is in Control. About three years ago, my younger sister had many massive heart attacks following what was supposed to have been a routine heart surgery that she had been through before. Something went wrong, and they didnt' expect her to live. The hospital chaplain had come out to tell us that we had a hard decision to make and that my sister would probably not recover and if she did would more than likely have brain damage. I was devastated. I was upset that the chaplain had not once mentioned God, had not offered prayer, had not offered any encouragement that God could still change things or a miracle could happen. I called my pastor and spoke with his wife and she told me, "Don't ever forget that God is in Control". She offered me the encouragement that God had a plan set forth, and it was not for the doctors, the chaplain, or for me to change the way things happen, and we have comfort in knowing that God has a purpose and a reason for everything. It turned out that after a strenuous ordeal, that my sister came through just fine with no brain damage. So, try to remember in the situation with your Aunt, that God is in control. It was her time and put your trust in the Lord and He will send comfort to you and your mother and your family. My heart goes out for you.

yeah, working full time, driving at least two hours a day (or more depending on traffic) and I work a second job on the weekends. Doesn't leave much time OR ENERGY!
-
I know, I did join a gym last year but I drive an hour one way to work and the gym is about halfway on the way home. Seems like most nights I feel too tired to stop by.

And, one of my problems is besides getting older, I find it REALLY hard to make myself exercise now. I was doing some before surgery, but not very much since. What is the problem? I wonder if I have some sort of mental block and why would I put myself throught that when I really want to lose so badly. I had searched for exercise videos online, and found some, and STILL cannot force myself to exercise. and Doddie, CONGRATS on the 2 lbs!!! I'll take EVERY pound less I can get!
-
Doddie, thanks for the suggestion. If Insurance denies me, I will check into that. Denise, YES, 1 pound is a good thing. Just think of how we were before surgery? It was gain 1 pound, or gain 2 pounds, NO losing at all. And, the good thing is even when we don't lose pounds, we are losing INCHES. I can tell such a difference in my clothing already. THANKS for the well wishes and advice, everyone!

I'm working on trying to get them to approve the extra visits now. I guess what upsets me the most is the fact that I wasn't told about it before showing up at the office yesterday. I did write a complaint letter to my doctor and told him I wasn't upset with him, but I was upset with his staff. It seems like they drew me in, operated on me, and now I've been dumped!

The good news is I lost 5 pounds since last month's dr. visit. The bad news is until today, no one at all had said anything to me about having to self pay for fills (Insurance covered surgery and fills for three months afterwards, today is in the fourth month). They are submitting NOW for pre approval and we'll see what it pays. But, I was VERY upset that no one bothered to mention anything at all to me from the first day I went in until now about having to pay ANYTHING besides my copay. I left crying. I'm sure that all you self pay people have gone through much worse, and I know I am fortunate that things have been covered up to now. But, it really ticks me off that they didn't bother to mention it until today when I show up at the office for a possible fill.

I haven't posted on this thread in a LONG time. I agree with you Jennie. What upsets me are these people who claim there is NEVER any reason for spanking. I clearly feel like there ARE certain circumstances where it can be neccessary, but agree, not to be done in anger and not to replace teaching your child right from wrong for lazy parents!

I had put myself on a 'losing schedule' and my brain was willing, but my body is WEAK. But, I am still losing  - I had relatives come down for the Easter Holidays, and they wanted to go out and eat EVERY NIGHT. I was so stuffed, I was SICK of food. It was like, Please don't feed me anymore! Sunday, I had gained 5 pounds, but since then I went on liquids and soft foods, and as of this morning, had lost it again, so I go back to the doctor tomorrow. At least I am showing a change from last month!!! 2bemeagain, keep us informed of how things are going. stepoffaith, where are you? how are you doing? haven't heard back from you since your surgery. Lynn, hope all went well today.

don't give up! What can we do to help?

I have such a good doctor when it comes to fills. I have a 10cc vanguard band, which he put in 3 cc's first fill, 3 cc's second fill and 1 cc last fill. I don't think I need another. We'll see, I go back on March 27.
-
ok, yes I remember that. I was wondering if you were asking me about having surgery today. I am hoping we hear from stepoffaith soon, she has been looking forward to this for some time now!
-
who is having surgery today?
-
I hope it comes back. I just noticed yesterday while washing my hair that mine is coming out in bigger clumps than usual. I had not been counting my protein grams, I thought I was getting enough protein, but evidently not.

Hey 2bemeagain, have been missing you, hope you are feeling much better. unshackled - feelings are normal, you've had a big change in the way you are eating. your diahreah shouldn't last too long, your body is just going through changes here. very normal, at least it was for me anyway. liz - welcome, and your date will be here before you know it! The post op diet isn't as bad as it seems. I was really worried myself, but it wasn't exactly a breeze, but went by pretty fast. before you know it you'll be getting your fills and feeling good restriction! Welcome All, there was another new lady on the previous page, cannot remember her name, but welcome to you too! We are glad to have you all!

Wow, what an ordeal UGAGirl. I know that I've had three fills. The first one was slightly difficult because the needle they use bent as he stuck it in, and he had to get another and do it again. The second attempt went fine. And, each fill since then has went like clockwork. Just be grateful that they were successful. 4cc's is a really good first fill. You should start feeling a big difference in the way you eat. My biggest problem has been eating too fast and taking way too big of bites. Since my last fill I've found out that I can eat MUCH MUCH easier by cutting my food up into small bites. It doesn't get stuck as easy. So, if you find food getting stuck, try and remember to cut it up first. Will make it MUCH easier for you. GOOD LUCK on your journey!

Hey Stepoffaith, I am SO glad for you! I know you will do fine. PLEASE KEEP US INFORMED OF HOW THINGS TURN OUT! (even though I feel sure everything will go well!)
-
I feel bad sometimes that I've only lost 25 pounds, but if you look at it as 1/4 of my goal, then it starts looking better ...
-
It will be MUCH better after you start getting regular fills. Each time I get a fill it seems to cut my current amount that I'm eating in half.
-
I think that would irk me too! But, glad you have something worked out, at least you are able to do something! I feel so bad for those who don't have the ability to self pay and who's insurance will not cover them. It is a shame that all insurances won't cover this procedure. It is so life changing, and makes a BIG difference in other health condiditons. It would seem to be in their benefit, but ...

I think everyone has forgotten about this thread. There haven't been that many postings lately. I "WISH" I was from savannah, it is a beautiful place. I love it there. Have been twice.

Nothing is by chance, He led you here

I would contact the insurance company, perhaps you can file an appeal and request that you not have to pay the $5000 up front. I would give it a try at least ...
