Good luck to Bandsters week of 11.26
candy8360 replied to Cherlita's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've just been rescheduled for December 5 because of an emergency that the doctor had. I like being a november nymph though. I've been sitting here crying. I had been looking forward to it So badly. -
I also have BCBS, but in Georgia. My sister also has BCBS, but was denied. I was approved after about a week also. I was told it all depends on the plan your employer has, not neccessarily that it is BCBS. It did take about three and a half months to finish all the requirements, but then it was sent up and the approval was given quickly. My surgery is Tuesday morning (2th). I'm very excited!

Notes from LapBandLand, Day IV Post-Op
candy8360 replied to bandpal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can relate to the way things can go wrong. It is my life story, sometimes. I'm proud of you for not giving in to temptation. I hope that when I get banded, it will help me to also not give in to those temptations. I also cannot imagine having to take my band to the hospital with me! One more little thing to be thankful for! -
Good luck to Bandsters week of 11.26

thanks for the well wishes. Tuesday is MY DAY. I'm very anxious (in a good way). I'm also thankful that my insurance is covering my procedure. I have a sister who is heavier than me and has more health problems, but her insurance will not cover her. I'm hoping I can get her to file an appeal and with the help of her doctors get her banded as well. She says she wants to see how I do first. Good luck to all of us on the list! Just think of what '08 will have for us! -
Hi everyone, My real name is "Georgia Ann", and thank God I wasn't born in Idaho! I have two grown children, my daughter, (the baby) just turned 20 yesterday. I have a son (22) also. I've been married 20 years, (to husband #3, rough on cars and husbands) but we've been separated and living in the same house for a year now. We've grown apart, but stay together because of financial woes and my daughter still lives with us. I know I could leave, but I can't stand the idea that if I do, she would not have a place to live. I really would rather be divorced though, but there are too many circumstances that prevent it right now. I do long though for someone who would be my partner and support. That is something I'm lacking. I work for a labor union, have been on my job for 10 years. I love to sew and make beautiful bridesmaid dresses and prom dresses. I also am good at costumes. I have a dog, jake (part jack russell and part maybe bulldog or pit bull or something). He sleeps with me every night and is the guy in my life right now. I also have a cat that we've had for 11 years. My surgery is Tuesday morning at 5:30 a.m. My mom is going with me. I am 47 and have made some drastic changes lately, like quitting smoking after 30+ years, and now will be giving up diet coke and gorging myself with comfort eating. Hence my overweight problem that I've been fighting with for at least 16-17 years now. So, I look forward to getting to know you all better. I enjoy the stories from everyone and it feels better knowing that there are others with the same fears and goals that I have. Glad to be a part of the November '07 crew.

thanks for that little informational tidbit. I am hoping I won't need those. And, tish, good luck on your future doctor visits. I'm sure they will have you rescheduled in no time!

Has anyone ever advanced post op food phase ealier than you were supposed to?
candy8360 replied to bparris's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my instructions are a little different. I have Clear liquids for day 1 and day 2 after surgery. Day 3-6, I have full liquids which include yogurt (no seeds or fruit) and strained tomato or vegetable juice and cream of wheat or oatmeal or grits. Then pureed diet for one week nd then soft diet for two weeks, then start working in solid foods. I also was told to go on all liquids for 10-14 days before surgery, which was really bad for the first couple of days, but then I seemed to be getting used to it. I miss meat more than anything. The first night I started my liquids, I dreamed about steak, fried chicken and ham all in the same night! After that, it did get easier. I think the liquids beforehand will make the liquids afterwards easier. -
I also will be praying for you. It would be hard for me to take if they told me my surgery was postponed. I belive it may be as I've read in the posts above, fatty liver from being overweight. Don't give up!!!

Should I contact the doctor or Ins first?
candy8360 replied to Iwanttodoit's topic in Insurance & Financing
I went to an informational seminar first, then called my insurance and found out what was needed. Part of what I needed was a recent physical, so then I went to my doctor. -
I have gotten a mixed response. Most of the people closest to me have told me how proud they are of my decision and have been very supportive. But I have a few who say, "Can't you just stop eating so much?" and, "You lost weight before, can't you do it again?" Obviously NOT. I did lose quite a bit a couple of years ago with a weight loss supplement, but as soon as my body got used to it I gained it all back and more. I also got some of the response that I didn't look like I needed it, but the scales don't lie. I am very excited about my upcoming surgery and I let all the negativeness just go in one ear and out the other. I know I'm doing what is best for me and that's all that matters! GOOD LUCK.

Wanting to become a lapbander!
candy8360 replied to LittleJ's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can't believe the doctor either! I remember the day I went to ask my doctor about giving me a letter of recommendation my blood pressure was a little high because I was so nervous. I was expecting them to tell me what your doctor said, but they were very supportive. I would first of all suggest CHANGING DOCTORS. I wouldn't worry about the erosion. My doctor explained that was the reason for leaving the band loose in the beginning, that it would develop a callous and that helps with the erosion. He says when they first starting doing the surgeries, there was more erosion because the band was too tight to start with and that they've learned over time. I found a website over the weekend that let me watch an actual surgery. It was Hartford Hospital I found it very interesting. It made me wince a couple of times, but was a relatively simple surgery. It looks like there would be more pain involved with the port and the CO2 gas. Good luck in your quest! -
I like the November Nymphs myself. Good name to whoever chose it.

well, I'm not the only one upset about giving up my diet coke! but, had someone tell me yesterday to picture a can of diet coke and picture myself thin - then decide which one I wanted most! it helped! Also went to obesityhelp.com and looked at the before and after pics. Can't wait to add my own! Was a big encouragement. Kept me from cheating on my liquid diet.

Has your sex life changed since getting the band?
candy8360 replied to 000000000's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm looking forward to the better sex too! I've been separated from my husband for a year now, but can't get motivated to find someone to be with. Always have had a high sex drive. Looking forward to the new me (getting banded on the 27th). -

thanks for the recipe. I've been surviving on canned Soups and slimfast. I've also went to the chinese place and ordered wonton Soup with no wontons. A friend of mine dubbed it "nonton soup". -

Intro...being banded tomorrow 11/21
candy8360 replied to accordigal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, Good luck tomorrow. My surgery is a week from tomorrow (27th). I'm a little nervous, but VERY anxious. I was wanting to cheat on my liquid diet, but I went to another website, obesityhelp.com and looked at the before and after pictures. They were very encouraging, and kept me on task. I have fought with my weight for 20 years now. My husband and I are separated, not because of my weight but because of lack of communication. So, my support group is my 20 year old daugther, who seems to think that I can do it myself without surgery, but I can't. Have tried. Ready for the NEW ME! -
My surgery is in 8 days. I've been on liquids now for 6 days. I'm looking forward to it, but a little nervous. The thing that upsets me the most is giving up my diet coke. I currently weigh 235, wanting to lose 100 pounds. I feel fortunate too that my insurance is covering this. Otherwise, I would not be able to do it. Just saying hello and hope that my success is as good as others I have read about.

candy8360 replied to candy8360's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
thanks! I know, tonight I'm having my cream of chicken soup when I'd REALLY like to attack the honey baked ham that is in the fridge for thanksgiving! But, I'm being strong, I know I've wanted SO long to be thin again (I used to be when I was younger) and I know that this is my chance, and my time. If I don't take advantage of it now, I can only blame myself. -

you are right, I'd rather be thin than have the diet coke. Just a lot of changes all at one time. -
