Yes you will be able to go out for dinner with friends. It felt good too. We had about an hour and a half dinner. It was 3 courses and I had to pace myself. A few bites of appetizer, same with first course, then I was picking over my second course. I drank Water right when I got there because the 6 of us talked and explored the menus (wine menu too). I knew it would take at least 30 minutes before food made it out. The courses were spaced out pretty well too. I took one sip of wine for toast before appetizer. Chewed like crazy on everything (which actually made me enjoy the taste more). I didn't drink again until we were leaving and I had another sip. Great time out for dinner before going to see Wicked at The Fox. Avoid any bread provided. What felt the best was none of my friends questioning me not eating bread or picking over my plate. I offered some of every course to my friends to taste. Plates sharing is a handy tool. ????

Getting closer and having doubts
BirdGangAnt replied to skc72's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My timeframe from first visit (10/2/14) to surgery (12/9/14) was 2 months and 7 days. I thought did I give myself enough time. Then I realized I'm a procrastinator and would wait until after holidays, then find another reason. I'm not saying that's you now, I had to realize my own place and then told doc I wanted it before the year was out. Do what's right for you, but evaluate yourself. Don't hesitate without a sound reason. Good luck! -

December Surgery Thread - we rock!

My belly hasn't budged much either, but other places have. I'm sure the healing process may cause some inflammation in the area as well as we can't work out that area much now. I'm sure when we're cleared to workout more the belly will begin to go. Mine was 12/9. -
Thanks for the reply. I'll read into them.

I was reading a post where someone had asked about pork rinds. They listed the nutritional info and it had around 9-10g Protein. Then another poster said that isn't "good" protein. What is "good" or "bad" protein? I want to make sure if I eat something that has protein listed that it counts towards my protein goal.

Yeah I only use one because it's 30g of Protein itself. I then try to get the other protein with Greek yogurt, eggs, and canned tuna or salmon. I don't use the canned, but the foil packs. You don't have to strain them. I only get one egg in, which weighs 1.5oz. I get 1-2oz of tuna later in day. Those have decent protein. I feel my two incision pain points later in the day as if I've been working them too hard and need to rest. I start the day off pain free. How about you? Is it constant or comes up later in day? -

I use Premier Protein which is an 11 ounce premixed shake that's 160 calories, 30g protein, 3g fat, 5g carbs, and 1g sugar. I thinks it's great for the protein I get in an 11oz package. I get them at Sam's Club. I'm on MyFitnessPal as ajohnson1050. You can add me and we can follow each other's diaries for food ideas and progress. Which incision is bothering you? I ended up with 6, 5 normal and 1 for drain. The drain and one above my naval (not the actual belly button incision) still bother me. I think it's because the tissue or muscle that had to be cut to get through. My other are healing well and don't bother me at all. -

How are you doing now? We share surgery dates by the way. I hope the shakes have gone easier on you and you're getting enough water too. -

Nice thread! My name is Anthony and I had my surgery on December 9th. My only complication was my esophagus was punctured with the breathing tube. It caused air in my neck and a delay with my first "meal" along with an extra night at the hospital. Once home and after pain under control it's been a smooth sailing. I've started scrambled eggs in the morning and tuna at lunch. Still using Protein shakes to get protein number up. On multi-Vitamin, B-complex, Iron, and Biotin (for hair support). -

I'm only 2 weeks post op, but will send request. Looking for all support I can find. I'm using it to track the nutritional data mainly because I'm not eating much these days. -
Congrats to all of you 12/15'ers! And happy birthday to those who had those this past week.

Yes. Nice cold applesauce was good to me. Unsweetened was on my list. I also had a well blended, low sodium (and sugar) organic butternut squash soup that was good.

I did experience what felt like stomach spasms when I started with a sugar free Carnation instant Breakfast. I think the first thick liquid down may take a little while, but it's gotten so much better since. Listen to your body. Also, We don't have wheat items in our food list. I'd check to make sure that's okay as well. Yogurt is good to go.

Introduce myself
BirdGangAnt replied to Judy McGovern's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Judy I had my surgery on the 9th and came home after two days in hospital (complication with breathing tube puncturing esophagus). I came home swollen from so much IV fluids I suppose. I stayed that way for some days and kept walking around the house every hour and foot swelling disappeared. Then I weighed myself this past Saturday and was down 13 pounds. Stick with it. It's just the beginning for us. The pounds will fall. I am wanting to workout in a few weeks, but will wait to get the okay from the doctor.
