  1. I agree...warm goes down so much easier. I would do tea
  2. I asked my doctor about that today because of how many different diets there is out there. I am not on pureed until 3 weeks post op. She said they like to be cautious to ensure the staple line is healed and the swelling is down before they introduce pureed. I was just today given the go ahead for Protein shakes and greek yogurt, prior to that just Water broth and Jello.

    Affairs?

Obviously you know it's wrong if you are feeling like this. If you are getting out of your marriage get out, but you will need to wait until he is out as well...then give it some time....then see if you are right for each other. You both may just be reliving the glory years simply because you are so unhappy in your current relationships now. Be alone for awhile. You need to

    MEDICAL BRACLETS

Not really. My surgeon gave me a card to carry that tells anyone to call him first prior to anything being done GI wise

    sweet tooth

me personally don't think i could do eat the cookie...it would start me down a slippery slope of rationalizing. Atkins has packages of chocolate covered almonds which are low net carbs. I think (once i can eat again...i am only a week post op) I would go for something like that or a sweet fruit smoothy instead of the cookie.

    Post op diet

So after reading a different post and looking at some fb pages, I have a question. My post op diet week one....liquid only week two....protein shakes, greek yogurt, cottage cheese week three..same as above week four....pureed week five or six depending...normal consistency....protein only week six and beyond can begin adding veggies/fruits I have read of people on week 2 eating mashed potatoes....those are on my no no list. What kind of diet does your surgeon have you following?
  7. i am one week post op today as well. Woo hoo!!! My follow up is tomorrow. Hopefully getting the rest of these staples out. I have been on liquid since surgery and my next week or two will be adding protien shakes, cottage cheese and greek yogurt. My dr's diet plan doesn't add pureed until week 4 ish. The different diets are funny.

    Help!

change it up a bit. if you are always eating the same thing your body may just need a jolt to get it back to moving in the right direction. Adding a couple new foods and maybe some different exercises will wake your body back up and put it back on the loosing track.

    Fab 40's shout out

I turned 43 in September, I was put on blood pressure meds the same month and started my VGS journey the next month. Had surgery a few days ago. January 20th. I have been married to an amazing man for 5 years now and we blended our families and have 4 wonderful children. When I decided to do this, I made the decision that this will be my best year ever. I had my surgery, enrolled back in school and have taken steps to change my financial situation. I am beyond excited about beginning my life again.

    Are you hungry?

@BLERDgirl. I do have omeprazole but I haven't taken it. I will try that. Just a quick question for you. Given the diet restrictions that we need to follow, how do you get your Protein as a vegetarian? I will have a giant garden this spring/summer and I am interested in finding out how you are doing this. I know I can add veggies to everything which is great, but just curious
  17. So I had my surgery on January 20th. I am a nurse and have researched this for years before finally decided on the surgery. I went to all the pre-op classes, did everything I was supposed to do when I was supposed to and i thought I knew exactly what I was getting myself into. Holy crap was I wrong. No amount of prep could have prepared me for what was in store. Post op, felt great. a bit nauseous but ok. Went for a nice long walk, had my foley, i was Nothing by mouth and a dilauded pca with zofran around the clock. I feel asleep for a bit woke at 2 am and was super sick to my stomach. The discontinued my iv in the morning and asked me to start drinking. WHAT!!!!! I tried, please understand I tried...so hard....They gave me Roxicodone liqiud, which just made things worse. My Blood pressure went through the rood because of the pain and nausea so they gave me meds for that which sucked because my head was killing me. They ended up restarting my IV and i was a blubbering idiot, in tears wondering what the hell i did to myself. The nurse practitioner came in and gave me toradol. with the hour i was able to stand again, ate some Jello and cleaned up which allowed me to get out of the hospital that day. It is now 5 days later. I am doing so much better. Still have some staples in place and steri strips. Water is going down easier, Jello as well. Still not a big fan of broth. I know with all my heart and soul that this was the right thing for me to do but I had my moment of weakness. I felt guilty and stupid about it but the NP told me that no one, no matter how much you know, can anticipate how your body will react to the surgery. Be patient. Forgive yourself for the doubts you have because you will have doubts and remember....it will get better.
  18. Good information. I am less than a week post surgery at this point but I feel like I am a bit of Frankenstein s creation. I have staples in place yet in a couple of places. I have steri strips in others and just closed cuts at this point. Will be interesting to see if I can make these lighten a bit when all is said and done.

    No amount of preperation

I am only slightly taller than you. I was told that after standing on the fancy scale in the office that i have about hundred and twenty five lbs of my body is fat that can be lost. It was guessed that i will loose about 70 to 80 but can get even more with proper diet and exercise
  20. i wore a hospital gown on top and once the foley was out, put my own lounge pants on to make walking the halls easier
  21. So it's done

  22. The last few days have been a blur. Had my meeting with my surgeon on Friday and my history and physical with family doc. Saturday morning i went to support group, Sunday did church and watched the game, then met with friends for Bible study and then poof..it was Monday and my PCP's office called and the anesthesiologist called and I worked all day and then that was it. Now I just finished packing my bag. Still drinking my Water and trying to relax because I check in at the hospital in twelve hours. I am nervous, scared, excited, honestly slightly dumbfounded at how quickly this came up. This is the end of the old and the beginning of the new improved healthier version of myself. Next time you all here from me, I will be post procedure.....eeesssshhhh......
  23. This time tomorrow

    I'm kinda disappointed

Yes...to keep muscles strong...unfortunately there is also some muscle loss with this surgery so this class is required as a starting point for exercise. We can go to more classes but he requires 8
  25. At my teaching day I was given a sample of premier. Also a sample of celebrate vitamins. They are chewable abs have the amounts my doc wants. I am going to order this week.
