I am currently nine months post-op and am down 117lbs from my high point -
I am nine months post op and I get the hungry feeling every 3-4 hours usually. My surgeon said that it is normal for many to have that feeling and that I just need to eat little meals that often. My mom is 11 years post op and never got the hungry feeling.

Genepro is a great flavorless protein

The quest bars are ok tasting for the amount of protein. I also like Power Bars

My husband really like the Mexican Tortilla flavored chicken broth -
My husband had his surgery on August 24th and has been doing very well; even better than I did my first week. Early this morning though he got really dizzy, started to pass out and then fell. He was clammy and cold. His temperature was 97 at 4:30am and 96.8 at 9:30. After sleeping for a bit longer, he wasn't feeling dizzy anymore. He said he doesn't think he hit his stomach and has been getting plenty of fluids, but I am concerned about possible infections as the temperature may indicate that. At what point should he go get checked out at urgent care?
-
Yeah I had him test his blood sugar and it was normal. We ended up going to urgent care and his wbc and platelets were elevated, but the on shift doc said that is normal after surgery. I didn't have that issue after my bypass so I am just trying to keep an eye out

I am 3 months post-op and I switch off between turkey, fish, and crab for my Proteins. chicken doesn't agree with me anymore. Here is a common day: 0630-0700: super multigrain Quakers banana walnut oatmeal w/ 30g scoop of Protein 1100-1100: 1/2 cup of Caesar salad (no croutons) or left overs (eggplant parmesan or enchilada soup) 1500-1600: Quest or Think Thin Protein Bar or mashed potatoes 1900-1930: one of the meats listed above and some veggies If I'm up late, I might have a sugar free desert a few hours later. I have lost 53lbs since surgery and my surgeon seems to be happy with my progress. -

I suspect they are drinking liquids to wash the food through. No matter how big their pouch is, if its getting flushed they can keep stuffing more in. I don't buy into this because I am able to sip on Water before during and after I eat, but I am still only able to eat a little bit of food and I eat every three to four hours because that is what my surgeon instructed. It just seems that some of these people are just not listening to their body and the pain that the eating is causing. -
I am very frustrated by my lack of weight loss since surgery. My surgery was on 12/15 and I have only lost 45lbs since that date. I have been following the diet plan from my doc and exercising, but I keep hitting plateaus. My surgeon is happy with my progress, but I just feel like it should be more.

new here, considering surgery, not sure which one
PrincessDeb replied to Katie Loesch-Meyer's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I did the RNY and for me there was never a question in my mind that I would choose that one. It's not that I had other health factors to consider, but rather that the RNY gives the chance for the most weight loss. My thought on it was, why would I not give my body the best chance at the most weight loss especially if it is likely that the stomach will stretch a little bit during the years post op. -
Week 3 and in the Pureed stage with concerns
PrincessDeb replied to Debralynnmunoz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also 11 weeks out and my new tummy has issues tolerating shrimp and chicken as well. My surgeon told me that after surgery, chicken and eggs are one of the more difficult foods to process and that many people become intolerant. It is so interesting the different food stages that all the surgeons use on us; I was on soups after leaving the hospital, soft foods a week later, and solid foods (minus bread, rice, pasta, popcorn, pork, or beef) at one month. As I have gotten further along, I have found that some foods like the chicken (which I love and am sad about) and shrimp nearly always make me throw up within 3 bites. Also, if I get too hungry and then eat, I will more than like throw it up. The surgeon just says it is a time of discovery. -
I am 11 weeks post op and have craved pizza a few times. I use to eat the thin crust pizza before surgery and know one day I will have it again. In the mean time, I have gotten cheese bread or cheese pizza and just eat the cheese off of it; this way you get the taste of pizza and don't feel bad or in pain from the crust. As for the chocolate aspect, I have just turned to sugar free option. Russel Stover makes delicious sugar free chocolates, maybe try that as an option.

I want to say I saw this episode when I was 3-4 weeks post op and it seriously disgusted me to see how much she ate post op. Even now at 11 eats post op, I cannot eat what she was eating right after surgery. Above everything else, why would you want too? There are a few things like chicken and shrimp that are not agreeing with my new tummy and make me throw up within three bites, I could not image eating tons of it or pasta and other foods like she did. -

Thank you both. My newest plan is to step up the workouts. I got a personal trainer to supplement the yoga. Let's see how it goes. -

I am 8 weeks post op and I sip a little when I eat. I don't sip enough for it to fill me at all and I usually do it after I have eaten a little or al of my food. I am fortunate that this has not been a problem for me. -
I have seen many of you post about quest bars, there is a groupon currently available for them $24.99 for 12 (3 flavors available).

Has anyone have severe Mensural issues post op? I am one month post op and am having the heaviest and worst cramps of my life. I am following up with the doctor, but just curious if others have had issues as well.

How much is everyone eating?
PrincessDeb replied to richkatrina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on how hungry I am and what I am eating. There are times when I can eat 3-4 oz of mashed potatoes, but other times I can only eat 2oz. I usually eat about 2oz of chicken, turkey, or fish at a time. I try to eat 4-5 times a day. -
My mom is 9 years post op and she she goes almost immediately after eating and the smell it terrible, but it is not dumping, it is just how her body works now. I am 5 weeks post op and I am completely different. I have had pre-surgery normal consistency BMs, however they were only every other day. They have just this week started to be once a day again. The surgeon has now put on a stool softener daily to help regulate because I have been having some abdominal pain in my colon area. Everyone is so different, your body may just work differently now.
