Y'all sure are quiet!! I am so excited I can't shut up LOL! Clear liquids only tomorrow, then nothing after midnight... I don't even have to be there until 1 pm Monday, so I'm gonna be cranky and hungry all day Surgery is supposed to be at 3 pm. I would've liked it to be earlier, but I will take it!

I am wondering the same thing about vitamins @@Itstime4menow I've seen posts mentioning crushing them with a pill crusher or mortar and pestle. I ordered a vitamin kit through my surgeon's website and was surprised that only one is chewable, and the other are capsules. I am going to ask him about swallowing them.

I enjoyed a chocolate mint shake in the morning, drank a cup of chicken bullion while the family ate turkey, and had no problem sticking to my liquid diet. I will be really glad when I get to eat again! I hope y'all had a merry Christmas!

I am new here. My surgery is scheduled for 12/29/14 in Houston, TX. I am on my 2nd full day of my preop liquid diet (and SO hungry! LoL) My surgeon is Dr. Garth Davis at The Davis Clinic. I am 40 years old and have struggled with my weight most of my life, especially since college. My "freshman 15" was more like 100 :-( After that I stayed fairly stable until seven years ago when I sustained a spinal injury that affects my mobility. Since I have trouble walking, I have gained another 50 lbs, but I will not be gaining any more! I am a teeny bit scared but mostly excited and thankful to be on my way to better health!

Yeah I was thinking a tiny slice of turkey would be great LOL! I think day 3 was when it got easier for me. I'm still hungry, but the end is in sight! We just have to do this for one week, then it's surgery day!!! YAY!!!

@@Adriane5Sims That sounds exactly like my diet..my surgeon requires all patients to do this for the 2 weeks prior to surgery in order to shrink the stomach and the liver to make surgery easier. I would think eating anything at all that close to surgery (Christmas/Eve) would defeat the purpose and undo all the shrinking we've been doing. I seriously considered scheduling mine 2 weeks later for that reason, but I have been waiting so long, I didn't want to wait 2 more weeks LOL! I asked my sis-in-law to host Christmas dinner so I won't have to smell everything cooking or have a bunch of food in my house. It will be hard but so worth it to have the surgery go as smoothly as possible. We can do this!!!

HMO is a bad word?

Well my surgeon's office called today to tell me my preop ekg was abnormal (had a normal one 2 months ago) so the anesthesiologist is requiring me to get cardiac clearance. Pending my HMO authorizing a referral, I have an appt w/ a cardiologist Tues 12/23, so there is still a chance that he will clear me, and I can still have my surgery as scheduled on 12/29. It will be cutting it close with Christmas being next week, but I'm still hoping. I sure don't want to have to start this liquid diet over, and I'd hate to have wasted all these protein shakes if I do!

I am 12/29 too! Two-week liquid diet here. 4-5 shakes and clear liquids yippee! Excited to find others scheduled around the same time as me. I live 100 miles from my surgeon's office so won't be joining their support group. I hope to find the support I need here
