    PMS with band

a little off topic of all of this talk but is everyone rugular still I have always been very regular for the (T.O.M.) and wandered if that continued after being banded. I am wanting to have it done and wasnt sure if any of that was efected. Still young and want to have kids still.
  3. OK so I go to my PCM (primary care manager) tomorrow for my referal I am going to have him send me to a local so I can get into a few seminars because I really want to have the band done but am so terrified of it that I want to be positive. Anyway I want to find a really good doctor to do my surgery. I am in Charleston SC but could go as far as NC or GA to have it done but would love to stay local. The doctor I found here is Dr. Thomas Byrne has anyone heard of him and does anyone know of anymore in that area range that are really good. HELP:confused:
  4. I am starting this process since tricare now covers lapband but am looking for good doctors in either Charleston SC or somwhere in SC or NC within a few hours of charleston. I really want personal opinions I can read comments on websites till i am blue in the face but would like ot hear what people have actually experienced PLEASE HELP.....
  5. Randi tricare did tell me my PCM was the only way I could get to a surgeon and not have to pay for it. So I called at 830 this morning and had one set up. I go the 31st of the month to start the process. I am a little worried though I have been under weight loss care by my pre military doctor then when I got married went to the only thing that tricare covered in the southeast a nutritionist who says you should go on a diet (DUH dont you think i have tried that) but all of that happended with my old PCM. The new one has only treated me for a cold...... I have also not had any problems getting my questions answered through tricare maybe I am just lucking out. Everyone I have talked to has known about the coverage and has been more than happy to answer an question. I am in tricare south. I am calling back in the morning to see exactly what I need to have done pre-op wise to get approved. I wish everyone luck and am scared but excitied at the same time.
  6. I am not sure exactly what weight at which they consider but I am 5'5 and 301 pounds at 21 years old. With history of every obese related illness in my complete family. I am going to make an appt with my primary care this week in see what happens. I have been battling this for years. I have known people to have it done at way less. Does anyone know the answer to this?
  7. I just called Tricare and they said that it is definatly covered and that all I need to do is get my primary care to refer me and I can start the process. I am on prime so they will cover 100% since we dont have a military hospital locally. I am so excited I never thought I would get to have this done because it cost so much and I couldnt pay out of pocket. It actually may happen assuming alol my madical checks come back correct. I just hope my doctor will refer me. My BMI qaulifies me it is 49 so all I need basically is to pass my blood test YAY......

    Tricare now approves lapband

This is great news. I have been waiting to hear when they approved it. i cant not afford to have it done on my own. What are the requirments to have it done through tricare. I know my BMI is like 47 or 48 and have a family history of pretty much everything.:help: I am just young and dont have 5 years of weight loss trying cause i wasnt old enough to start being documented till 3 years ago. I dont think my body can handle 2 more years of this weight. I am just ready to be able to go run with my husband and start a family the healthy way and not have to worry about all the obese side effects. PLease help......
  10. I am new to this group I was looking in a chat room this evening for anyone who could help me and a very nice woman from LA sent me an IM cause there was a strange guy in the chat. Anyway she sent me to this site. I am 21 with a BMI of 49.8 according to the online calculators:help:. I know that something has to be done now. I have to admit I am scared and unsure. I have a husband who is 6'4 and 175 so he is a great support for healthy living but being active duty military makes it hard for him to help me. Most of my friends just dont understand. Gotta love how I always find the skinny people to become friends with. I dont want to do the fad of the week I need long term answers. I really need some support and advice as to what to do. I have a family history of everything (high blood pressure, heart disease, thyroid, diabetic, and almost every form of cancer) I know my odds are good of getting one or all os these. I also have a family history of morbid obesity. My grandmother was 420lbs, My dad and brother are over 350 and my mom is just under me at 250. I have past the point of oh just work out. I know everyone probably did need to know my history but I just need to talk to peopl who understand. My aunt had gastric and that just isnt an option at my age. My mom is not for any of it and my dad says whatever will make me healthy. PLEASE ANY ADVICE WILL BE GREAT AND INFO ON LAPBAND IS GREAT TO HEAR. Thanks to all for reading, Mecca:rolleyes:

    Tricare Prime Remote

OK so I am new to tricare and when I last asked was told in Oct they covered nothing but GB. Not an option for me I am to young by eval standards. What is this about them maybe starting to cover it in Jan 08 that would be great. I do know that they cover weight loss drugs in ohio, michigan and one other state as a trial. Also i have a questoin about being on an inactive base. We are officially on a shut down base in SC and am not sure where if even in a 500 mile radious of me there is a real military hospital. There is a army base about an hour and a half but they only do minor things and out source like they do here. Anyone know:help:
