My name is Amanda and I am a married mother of 2.  I have been researching WLS for a while and finally made up my mind that I was going to do it for ME. My husband has been super supportive every step of the way. My journey started on 5/15/14 when I met with Dr. Dirk.  He was super nice and very supportive. We discussed what we thought was best for me and he answered all my questions. I have BCBS through my husbands work, and had to do a psyc eval and have a 40+ BMI. I was approved in no time at all.  My husband changed jobs in June and the new insurance had an exclusion. (This took 3 months for them to tell me no). Which was weird because it was still through BCBS, but my policy was different. Mid-December, I was approved for a hernia repair with VSG. So I am paying some out of pocket (about 4,000.00). My surgery is scheduled for January 7, 2015... almost 8 months later!  Dr. Dirk and his staff are excellent and fight for you every step of the way. I do plan on appealing, but will wait til after the surgery.
