    Post op pain

After my surgery every commercial on tv made me want everything! I don't even like some of the things but I wanted it!

    How long did it take?

I met with my surgeon on Dec 3, 2014 and had my surgery on Jan 16, 2015. About a month or so.
  3. I have a quiz in one of my late classes tomorrow but I can't keep focused! All I can think about is my surgery! I'm super excited and nervous but mostly excited! 8am Friday here I come!

    2 More Days!

Thank you! Good luck to you too! I think my anticipation was worse on Monday than today, lol. I literally couldn't sleep because I was so excited. Two days just makes it seem more like a reality. I'm constantly asking myself, "Is this really happening? It's really happening." Lol

    ANY South Carolina Sleevers?

I'm classified as a junior but I transferred in 2013 to cofc. I may as well have been a freshman honestly. I switched majors constantly at Trident until I landed on computer science at cofc. I am freaking out about my surgery! I'm a little afraid, but mostly nervous and excited and anxious. I am so ready to start!
  6. @@Babbs I thought I was weird or something! I have my pre-op appt tomorrow(Jan 13) and they haven't breathed a word about any pre-op diet. I was freaking out about it and made sure to eat relatively clean and lean regardless because my surgery is this Friday(Jan 16). You've given me peace of mind! Thank you!

    Super Supportive Parents

Yay for supportive friends and family!! My mom and I actually watched a video of the sleeve procedure. I thought it was gross but she thought it was cool. She also wanted the surgery 6 months ago but together we lost about 40ish pounds each and she didn't qualify for surgery anymore because her BMI was normal!
  10. So, I didn't really ask for anything for Christmas, I always feel so awkward when my family asks what I want. So I'll just say something along the lines of socks, undergarments, etc. However, I've had a very eye opening Christmas surprise! My parents both work full time and usually when we talk I felt like anything about my surgery was going in one ear and out the other. I mean I knew they understood the basics of what I could and couldn't eat but I figured that was it. I don't mean to say they don't listen, they do. I just feel like I was talking about all of it in passing. Like, "After surgery I can't eat that, or after surgery I can't take certain over the counter meds." Well, at midnight on Christmas Eve my parents surprised me with a really awesome blender! I'm talking a professional future accident because I'm a klutz sharp blender. My parents exact words, "We got you this because we knew you had to follow a post op liquid and pureed diet after surgery. This will make it easier compared to the other blender. Plus it has on the go cups!" I literally cried. I mean I didn't even think about a blender for post op! (We own one already that isn't even a year old) I just can't believe my parents. I really can't. I haven't even gotten my surgery date yet! I'm still waiting for my insurance company to mail my approval letter! Well, if my surgery doesn't go as planned or I end up arguing with insurance at least I've got a really awesome blender!

    Freaking out...

This really managed to calm me down. I was really second guessing myself but I feel the pros definitely outweigh the cons! @@Miss Mac I pretty much burst into laughter at letting them give me a little nap, lol!

    Freaking out...

So, this is the first time I've had insurance and luckily enough they cover the sleeve. I fought so hard to keep up in school while doing the requirements for bariatric surgery that I totally skipped the freaking out phase. It has officially caught up with me. I am really freaking afraid. I trust my surgeon and my pcp and my mother and sister are totally behind me and while my father wishes I would reconsider he knows this is what I want. I've been reading horror stories and my father personally knew someone with a horror story (which is why I think he is afraid for me to get the surgery, but that person is all better now). 6 Days...omg, I'm so nervous, excited, and afraid. I could use some support and advise to keep me sane until the 16th!
  14. My surgery is next Friday and my allergies are really leaving me congested! (I really don't want to cancel surgery but if I have to I will) I saw my PCP on Wednesday for congestion and he congratulated on my surgery being next week. He didn't see a problem after checking me over and gave me the all clear. He was going to prescribe a nasal spray but I had one from over the counter that works really well. I am having a pre-op physical on Tuesday so I will try not to worry too much. On the plus side, I paid my surgical co-pay today! I asked the woman on the phone if I could still have the surgery if I only paid the surgical co-pay because I still have to pay the hospital room fee and she thought I was ridiculous! She said, "Of course you can still have surgery!" She told me about the payment plans they offer at the hospital and said that I could call them after the procedure to set it up once they send a bill. This is finally starting to become a reality. I can't wait!

    Allergies acting up

@@BLERDgirl I actually meant to write I'm not great with dairy! I'm starting to feel a little better now, however. *Knocks on wood*

    Allergies acting up

I'm actually not on any Protein shakes and I'm great with dairy. When I went to see my pcp he flushed my ear because I had a small blockage which made hearing out of my left ear hard and everything else congested. My ear is fine but now I have some really nasty phlegm build up.

    Insurance approved!

    Congratulations!

    Finally?

So, I called my coordinator about my status yesterday and she called me back today saying it was still pending. I had called my insurance company to see if they mailed my letter saying I met all the requirements for surgery and she said they did on the 23rd! I told my coordinator that they mailed the letter on the 23rd of December and should expect it later this week to next week but she stopped me and asked me if they said I was approved... I told her yes (I haven't heard anything different since calling the insurance company several times) and she said that the office would call them instead of waiting for the letter and asked me if I wanted to schedule surgery!!! I pretty much freaked out and screamed, "YES!!!" and got a surgery date for Friday, January 16th!!! School starts on the 12th for me but since school is only just now coming back into session I won't miss much! I'm so nervous that something will go wrong and I will have to cancel surgery but I will worry about that when the time comes! For right now I am just happy to say that I have a surgery date!!!! 10 FREAKING DAYS!!!

    @@proudgrammy Thank you so much!
  20. ...And I just say "nothing" because if I tell them "insurance approval" they will wonder why? and what for? Well my anonymous internet friends, my Christmas gift came early and it looks like my insurance (after my call to them today) approved my surgery! I could cry right now! I am still waiting for my approval letter and for the surgery date and I know something could happen where insurance suddenly changes their mind but right now, I am just so happy! My fear of rejection was scaring me more than the surgery itself(reliving my college admissions all over again) and I just had to tell someone, because i've been keeping it hush hush until A.) Insurance approves or denies my request for surgery and B.) I get a surgery date. I will still be hesitant until I get an official surgery date but I just can't keep quiet about insurance initially approving my request for surgery!
