I'm on day two since the surgery. The first day was brutal. I was in a Massive amount of pain and discomfort. My chest hurt the most so I ended up needing a X-ray. All came back normal. Evidently the gas and the tube they put in you to help drain the stomach was hurting my chest . Now I am feeling better just super tired and out of it. How are any of my 2-23 warriors doings?

I feel you on the pain. I am still in a ton of pain. I know it will get better it just takes time and patience. This sleeve currently runs my life and is a bit of a bitch (she's trying really hard to fit in around here) so I just need to remind myself through difficult sips of liquids that I can do this. I am reminding myself why i opted for surgery in the first place. I also weighed myself and I am 20lbs down total (to include the pre op diet). It will get better with time!

I did speak to my doctor who let me take more pain meds. I guess I am a big whimp with this surgery and I've had two stomach surgeries in the past. The pain is just a lot for me. I'm trying to stay strong and remember that this pain is fleeting. I wish before surgery I would have seen a post like mine. It feels like people only post how amazing they feel and I definitely not like that. So here is the other side of the story for those about to have it. I wouldn't say that I wouldn't do it again but be ready to be on your butt in pain.

Yogachick can I ioin the fb page? I was sleeved on 2/23 and am feeling down and need some support and encouragement.

I'm on day 4 post op (sleeved 2/23) and I'm in so much pain I can't even stand it. Everything hurts. Siting, standing, walking, laying down drinking etc. I'm feeling like I should've stayed in the hospital a few extra days because I feel like I can't handle all of this pain. My stomach feels like it's on fire. I am struggling to take in deep breaths. Drinking is weird. I feel it go down my sleeve and it feels like I'm drinking rocks. My throat feels very scratchy etc. I hate to be a Debbie downer but I'm just so upset at how painful this all is. I want to think positively and hope that I'll feel those positive vibes and begin to heal but it's so hard. Maybe I should be on a stronger painkiller. What I'm currently taking is every 6hrs and about 3-4 hours in i am moaning in pain. As for the walking you guys are amazing! I walk to the bathroom or down the hall once and then stick a fork in me I'm through. I don't have the energy and I'm in so much pain. I wish I had the pain threshold that some of you sleevers have. Keep being an inspiration to me. Lord knows I need the positive stories and the encouragement.

Surgery 2/24......finally home
nicolesix replied to hzrizen1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow I had mine on 2/23 and I'm writhing in pain still. I can't believe how painful this really is. Maybe I need to call my doctor for stronger painkillers or something. Drinking, sitting, walking and laying down all hurt so I'm in a constant state of pain that just varies in its intensity. -
A girl in my support group ate guacamole, tuna with mayo and hummus as her first soft food meal. She ate it two weeks post surgery. I can't wait to eat that meal ????

You would join this site! No surgery for you ????

Day three I was miserable. I had a really bad headache and was nauseous all day. Then it got better and you have good days and bad days. It's all worth it in the end :-)

I've lost 10lbs and I'm on day 9. I lost that much by day 6 and have been stuck there since. I think it's fine though.

I'm five days out from my sleeve surgery and feel congested and the beginning stages of being sick (again). This will be the 3rd time since November! Anyway, I'm worried I won't be able to get the surgery. I'm just congested so far so I am hoping that if I don't have a fever I can still have the surgery. Anyone have anything like this?

Down 10lbs in 6 days

Melhach It'll get better. You'll feel less hungry eventually. I don't know how your liquid diet works but I can eat some in my plan. So I will eat a half of a cup of fruit during lunch. Just the crunch is nice and satisfying! As for the headache it comes and goes. Today I have one and it could be because I feel congested or because I need caffeine and caffeine needs me ???? but whatever the case I know it's fleeting. I'm just trying to stay busy by tying up all of the loose ends before I have the surgery and am rendered useless. Stay busy my friend! -
I have seen and read a lot of posts on here that have mixed opinions about the pre-op (liquid diet). My doctor suggests a 14 day liquid diet consisting of 4 protein shakes and one 400-600 calorie meal a day. It has been a rough road! Day 3 I had a headache that wouldn't subside. I've had to say no the Valentine's Day chocolates, going to a buffet lunch with my in laws (who are in town), had to practice self control while grocery shopping and so on and so forth. I've missed food so much I've cried. I'm addicted and that's why my weight has gotten this high. This pre-op diet has forced me to face hunger. To feel what being hungry really feels like. To practice saying no to myself, my family and my friends. I'm now 6 days in to this diet and I'm feeling better. Sure I'm hungry and want some things but it's getting better. Saying no is getting easier. I am proud that I can do this pre-op diet. That even though I want to eat badly I'm not giving in. I'm learning how to take care of myself. This is just the beginning. So to anyone out there having a terrible day know that you're not alone. You'll have rough days. Days when you want to eat your sadness away. Days when you want just the texture of some food. But stick with the diet your doctor has put you on. This is just the start of your lifelong journey. You will be saying no a lot once you get the surgery so start now!

Down 10lbs in 6 days
nicolesix replied to nicolesix's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the advice cc197823 about recovery! I am making two weeks worth of meals and freezing them for my mother in law to prepare while I'm out and recovering. She's also a homemaker so she's very domesticated so I am confident my house and children and husband will be properly cared for (I have a really hard time letting go of the control). As for not eating with them I've had to deal with that during this liquid phase. I've had to cook big meals for company and I'm only able to eat dinner and it had to be small. It is hard but I try not to let it get to me. This is my decision and I don't want my family to feel bad while eating in front of me (although they do). But yeah I'm a taster so I have a tendency to try everything as I'm cooking so I'm working on not doing that haha. -
Got my date, finally! & it's only 13 days away! 02/23/2015!

@"#cantstopwontstop I'm serious! I get it I am going to miss certain foods sooooo much! But, I feel like being smaller will feel better than Cane's chicken strips. Anyway, congrats on the weight loss! Are you also a February 23 sleever? -
I'm hoping to not reschedule since my mother in law is already here to help with my two toddlers. I don't know that I'd want her here long than three weeks ???? I'm just hoping this is some congestion, maybe allergies, and that it will calm down and go away ASAP. Positive thinking!

Down 10lbs in 6 days pre-op

Thank you all for the kind words and understanding. I'm not sure if insurance covers any damages we may cause to our families or anyone who comes in contact with us during this two week liquid nonsense, but they should ???? -

I didn't have to lose a certain amount of weight, but I did have to do a two week pre-op liquid diet. I hope this doesn't affect you getting the surgery on the 23. I've known a few people who ate like it was their last supper and still had the surgery so I'm sure it's based off of your doctors preferences. Good luck! -

Thanks! I am having surgery in February 23! So you're 11 days post how are you feeling? My mother in law will be here for the first 12-13 days and then I'm on my own with two kids and a two story house to tend to. Do you feel back to normal? -
