    NH Folks

I'm from Hampstead. Had RNY gastric bypass on 12/15/14 at CMC. Down 125 lbs with another 100 lbs I'd like to lose to reach my own goal wgt.
  2. Yes, it DOES get better !! Had RNY bypass surgery on 12/15/14 and have lost 66 lbs post op and 40 pre-op. I don't get the same excitement out of going out to eat like I used to but that is because I used to over eat each time we dined out. Now I just eat a small amount of food and usually just have a healthy appetizer or a salad or pick a little bit of food off my wife's plate. But I feel liberated by not feeling as though I'm a slave to food any longer. Focus on getting your protein in first at each meal and you'll have success. I had no problem tolerating eating a small baked potato and bananas as well about 6 weeks post op. Take it slow and introduce new foods slowly to see what you can tolerate. Good luck !!

    Day after bypass

Congratulations on having the surgery and beginning your post op journey to a healthier you !! I, like you, had no complications after surgery and was up and walking (doing laps around the nurses station and the wing of the hospital) the morning after my 4pm RNY surgery the prior day on 12/15/14. I'm now down 66 lbs post op and I feel great. The only regret I have is not having the surgery sooner. Best of luck to you !!
  4. Jeannbe1, I had my RNY surgery on 12/15/2014 and like you the first couple of weeks were tough especially watching all your family members eating great food around the holidays while you're on a liquid diet. I, like the rest of us who have had surgery, definitely questioned my decision to have surgery and thought I made a big mistake. Depression and resentment of other "normal people" eating what they wanted also began especially when I was on the puréed foods phase of the post op diet. But believe me when I tell you that I now feel that this was the best decision that I have made in my entire life. I kept on thinking how miserable I was when I reached my heaviest weight of 466 pounds ( 5 ft 10 in). The depression and feeling of helplessness that I experienced at that weight is pale in comparison to the first month post op. I am down 66 pounds in three months post op along with the 40 pounds I had to lose to qualify for surgery. I have another 123 lbs to get down to my goal weight and I am excited about how even better I am going to feel as I get closer to my goal weight. My knees and my back no longer hurt me and I am enjoying life again and while sometimes I do miss a certain food it's not something that consumes my thinking all day long like it used to. You have no idea how liberating it feels to not be a slave to food and fast food drive up windows. I now eat to live rather than live to eat and you will too soon enough ! Please follow your surgeon's instructions so your body can heal and I'm confident that you too will eventually feel that this life changing decision was the best thing you've ever done once the momentum of losing your excess wgt really kicks in ! Good luck.

    Dec. 15th anyone?

Good luck everyone. My gastric bypass is today at 2:45pm. Have to be at the hospital at 1pm. Very nervous but also very excited at the same time. Never had surgery before so this is going to be a long nervous day. Reading the posts of folks who have already had it done really helps though.
  8. 34 inch waist is my ideal waist size. I'm presently a 56 to 58.

How Many Guys Are On This App

I'm new to this forum. My gastric bypass surgery is scheduled for tomorrow, 12/15/14, at 245pm. I'm a 46 yr old guy who has a BMI Of 62 and my heaviest weight was 446 lbs. I presently weigh 405 lbs. I'm both nervous and very excited at the same time as I've never had any type of surgery but I cannot wait to get my life back. My surgeon think I have 189 lbs of excess weight to lose to make goal. I greatly appreciate those folks who have already gone thru WLS posting their experiences as they are extremely helpful in preparing for this life changing event.
