I have not figured out how to make a ticker. I am 5'3" and started at 213 with a goal of 120. I am now at 163.5. I was a custom dressmaker so I make most of my clothing therefore I can not compare sizes. I did buy t-shirts in 1x and now am a large.

My surgeon told me nothing larger than an eraser, so I can take most of my pills. Some I cut in half and one I had the doctor switch me to a different pill.

Answer honestly, it is better to get yourself in good shape so you can be complient with the program then to lie and have a hard time.

How did your doctors feel about you getting a Gastric Band?
abby1 replied to sphynxmomma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
While my doctor was neutral on the lapband, he did recognize my need to lose weight and supported me if that was my decision. I like my PCP and can not imagine finding another one if the only problem was that he was against the surgery. -
May I suggest you find a local gastroenterologist. You might want to talk to a local lap band doctor and get a recommendation from him or her on someone who knows how to work with lap band patients. This is sounding like more than a lap band problem.

I have been unable to find foods I can eat for breakfast. I used to eat eggs with soy sausage or soy bacon, but eggs are causing a major problem. What are you eatting for breakfast?

I thought we are suppose to avoid a liquid diet, I can drink a Slim Fast for breakfast, but I am thinking that is not what I should be doing.

I was banded right before Thanksgiving; I've had one fill with another visit to the doctor on Monday. I am still dealing with head hunger and habit issues and expect I will have to deal with them for some time to retrain myself. Most of the time I am not hungry; I can eat many foods and am satisfied with what I am eatting. As I watch what I eat, I try to make some room calorie wise for a little snack so that I do not feel deprived.

New way to find your Plastic Surgeon
abby1 replied to suddenlyslim08's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
This must be a very new site. I am in the Tampa Bay area of Florida and there are no surgeons listed within a 500 mile radius. -
Does anyone else have the restaurant card?
abby1 replied to conniesueb's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I do hope you contacted Olive Garden Corporate office to let them know what happened. -
Without judging you, you might want to talk with your doctor about dealing that part of the overeating and keep the band at the low fill.

I've PB'ed three times. The first time it was a meal where I only had three small bites, but it was a rich meat and potatoes dish. The other two times was on a business trip. Ate band friendly food in my room and went down later for coffee with the group. There was something in the coffee both mornings that made me lose my breakfast

Hi! New here looking for some advice
abby1 replied to luckycharm830's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had colon cancer in 2001; I've always had a problem with constipation and a slow sluggish system. First find yourself a good gastroenterologist. I've been having more problems with my constipation since my band. Since the cancer I take two tablespoons of Benefiber each morning. My gastroenterologist recommended taking Miralax as well. I have not used it yet, but will try it when I get back from my next business trip and can be around in case there are problems. I will start with a lower dose than suggested and increase to the recommended dose if needed. -
Does anyone else have the restaurant card?
abby1 replied to conniesueb's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have the card and have used it on occasion without a problem. However, most of the time the items for children are terrible so I either order an appetizer and if I am still hungry maybe have a bite off my husband's plate. I also order off the regular menu and have lunches for almost a week. -
I have been on and off (mostly on) allergy shots since I was 16 and have been on allergy medication since that time. I've been banded since November and have not noticed anything out of the ordinary.

How are you with a smaller fill?

How do most of you set your goals? I have my goal weight of 120, my weight in high school and college, which may or may not be realistic at my age. I want to lose in a healthy and responsible way, so my goal is to average 2 - 3 pounds per week. I've seen posts where people are saying they want to be X weight by Thanksgiving or Y weight by Christmas. Is that realistic? Doesn't that put pressure on oneself and if a plataeu is reached cause anxiety?

I have a class tonight from 6 - 9. I wil need to leave at 5. When do I eat? I am not hungry now, but if I wait until 10, I will be over hungry and a break during class to eat is out of the question. This is not the first time something like this has happened, nor will it be the last.

Drinking a protein shake in class or a bar is not going to work. I am going to have the same problems when I fly across the country in a few weeks and because of the liquid restrictions will not be able to bring a shake. I can try a protein bar at that time; but I am having some problems digesting them. Any other suggestions?

I would like some guidelines on eatting out. I saw an little Atkins book once that had guidelines. If you went to a Thai, Mexican, Indian or other restaurant the following foods were good choices and these foods were bad choices. Does something like that exist for lapbanders?
-
I can eat out and take 2/3 of it home for other meals. I can order smaller portions, that is not the problem. I travel a great deal for business; somewhere between 25% to 33% of the year although this year I am hoping to lower it a bit. I need to eat out so I am looking for healthy suggestions. Is the Atkins book a good idea?

Do you eat popcorn?
abby1 replied to bandster_1007's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I eat popcorn and I do not know if my doctor approves or not. -
I have always had a problem with drinking a great deal of liquid. This is something both my mother and her sister have as well. I am drinking more than I ever have before, my urine is light and pale, but I am no where near where I should be. I am sipping through the day, take a bottle of water with me when I am in the car, I am losing weight. Am I hurting myself? I had my first fill yesterday and it is harder yet.
