January 2015 Buddy Group anyone?
Msnicnic replied to time for june's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think my nausea and vomiting was from the anesthesia. My doctor was concerned that I may have scar tissue from past hernia repair, so I was given a higher dose of anesthesia. I've been put to sleep numerous times and that was the first time I've ever had an reaction like that. I was scared at first, until the doctor came through and told me it wasn't abnormal. The gas on the other hand.....OOOOWWWWEEEEE....was like punishment. I hear some people say they asked the doctor before hand to make sure to release the gas. Wish I had known that!! -
Just for laughs....hopefully not TMI =)

This is about one of the best pieces of advice I have seen on this forum since I joined....and there is lots of advice here to utilize. I will remember this one here for sure!! Thanks. -
My dr prescribed me liquid tylenol. Thank goodness I haven't needed it yet because getting my daily liquids is enough intake for now.

Glad to hear you are doing well. Some of these so called medical professionals are anything but professional. They don't know or understand your reasons for doing the surgery, and frankly it's none of their business. -

I'm having gas issues too. So far I'm doing ok with the protein and water...I don't want to get dehydrated and end up back in the hospital. Try drinking some mylanta. That should help. I will get better, that's what I keep telling myself. -

Hello my January buddies. I pray that everyone is doing well and in good spirits. Okay, now to my experience with surgery. As I stated before my arrival time was 530a on 1-13-15 and my surgery time was 730a. Well I get there, check in and get taken in back by the nurse. She checked my weight...12 lbs down thanks to pre-op diet. I get changed into my hospital attire and they get the IV going. All ready huh? Nope. They come in and tell me that I was my dr first case, but he had just been called into an emergency surgery and I'll be laying there waiting a couple extra hours. He came by and talked to me and told me it wouldn't be that long and to just relax. Cool So about 930a things get to moving. Take me in , get me to sleep and next thing I remember I was in my room. I had no incision site pain...only gas, so I didn't have to use the pain pump they gave me. I did however have a lot of nausea and vomiting. It scared me at first because it was bloody (sorry), and it lasted the entire day. They took me to do the leak test and I thought they were going to cancel because I kept vomiting....funny thing though, I held that dye down so I could get through the test but as soon as I got back to my room it started again. I was given all kinds of nausea meds and patch behind the ear. Well they got the nausea/vomiting controlled and started me on my liquids so I could come home on time and I did. :-) I'm still dealing with gas, but it's moving through me slowly. Still no pain though. -

Awww thanks so much for those kind words. I really appreciate it. I've been trying to keep myself as busy as I could today so I wouldn't have much time to sit and panic. It's good to hear that yours went wonderful and I accept the vibes and will pass mine on to the next person just as you did. :-) It's good to have someone holding my hands and I will remember you Paula! Thanks a bunch and I will check in when I can afterwards. -

Awww I am super happy for you. You will do fine.....not sure it they taught you the breathing technique, if they did remember to use it. I'll get my check in time on tomorrow and post it. Meanwhile you try to sleep as comfortable tonight as you can and we'll talk after the surgeries. Best wishes -

I'm doing the same...trying to get as much done as I can. Plus I homeschool my daughter, so my assistants will be taking over for a few days and I have to get her work packet together. It's actually keeping my mind occupied, so I'm not dealing with too much nervous. Best wishes to you. Mine is 1/13 so I'll update when I can on that day. -
Yes...how about that. I'll add you and we can check up on one another. My date is set for 1/13/15. I should be nervous...huh....but I'm too excited right now. ????

It's been a total of 8 months for me. From doing the six month NUT visits, testing and Psych and a few days waiting on approval.

Congrats to you!!!! So sorry you had to go through so much to get what you needed. Maybe changing insurances was for the better.

I'm with you on the up and down weightloss rollercoaster. Yo-yo dieting has done nothing but make me gain more than I had before starting. Oh...I'd love to have the cottage cheese..LOL that's actually one of my favorites! I'll be more than happy to keep in touch and check in to see how you are doing. Support....can never have enough of it. Thanks for adding me hun. :-) PS. I believe that is just what the hubster is going through...he's tough and will be ok. -

I'm on the 2 week liquid diet too. My first week was the pits, and I actually cheated. This 2nd week has been better and I've been totally committed to sticking to the 5 shakes a day. No meals allowed for me, but I can have sugar free popsicles and drinks so that helps. I'm feeling wonderful, no nerves flowing at all, just a little anxiousness to get it over with. My husband has been my #1 supporter and all of a sudden yesterday he had second thoughts. That's something he has to deal with because I have to stay focused. Of course, if I could loose on my own I would have been done it. LOL. Anyway don't let the ticker scare you. hehehe. We have 1 week to go so LET'S DO THIS!!! -

Hi Donna, and welcome. Your day is 2 days after mine. Are you on liquids right now? And what hospital will you be at? -
Starting my 2 week diet on the 29.

@@Ready_For_Me_13 Thanks a lot and the other ladies I thank you too. It's good to have someone that knows what you are going through and not just pat you on the back and say it's ok. My hubby is the best, but he has no idea how much we have to deal with going through this process. I don't want any problems with my dr either, so I try to do everything I can to make things go easy. I'll have my Ipad with me and I will definitely be sure to update everyone. Of course since you are a day before me I can check on you the night before. Thanks for the encouragement -
First of all Happy Holidays everyone. Now on to business..lol. Since my 2 week diet starts on Dec 29, I've been trying to moderately eat some of my favorite foods. The funny part about it is that my stomach is not cooperating. I've been watching what I eat for so long for the doctor and now it seems like eating and even talking about some foods make me nauseous. Don't know why, but thought I share my failed plan. Count down under way!!

I'm in NC, the Eastern part, so I'll be at Vidant Medical. This 2 week diet has been the pits for me. I did better on my liquid diet that I set for myself....I guess it's mental.
