  1. I went in on tue 3/24 to have my surgery. I clowned so bad in recovery room they wouldn't let my husband in to see me. I don't remember much but the nurse said "we need to get her in her room now". The pain was terrible. they even tried to get me to walk in recovery. Once I got in my room the nausea horrible. I was dry heaving which caused so much pain in my abdomin. they were pumping me up with drugs to prevent me from damaging something. I ended up staying in the hospital for 3 nights. I got home today and I'm much better. The whole time I was think Why did I do this. What an experience....
  2. Ok I'm 4 days post-op and constantly hungry. Besides acid build up (Prevacid is from heaven), I can eat and drink all day. I have no problem getting anything down, I want something with substance. Popsicles and jello are my friends. I have had several occasions when I really felt FULL it was a good feeling. is it just in my mind? One of the benefits of the surgery is you will not full hungry .
  3. I'm having my sleeve surgery tomorrow. I told my job I will return back to work on the following Tues 3/31. Only 7 days off. I work at a desk so no chance of injury. Is this too soon? I know it depends on the individual but I wanted to see if there are others that only took a week off.
  4. Ok, I picked up all my meds on Friday and was wondering what cost $94. To my surprise when I opened the bag to find Enoxaprain (Lovenox) syringes. It really freaked me out!!! ONLY instructions was to inject under the skin. Now I'm on Youtube trying to figure out how to do this. SURGERY is tomorrow. My nerves are everywhere all weekend.
  5. Talk about messing with your mind and stomach. My surgery has been delayed twice. From 10:30 to 12:30 and now 1:30. I can't have anything!!!!!!! I just want some water..... slow start but ill finish strong!
  6. Im back and just weighed in at 202.9. All prepped in nice gown and socks. Waiting....
  7. Thanks all!!! Just another element to add to my anxiety. I can do this! I can do this! I can do this!
  8. Im 6 days (not perfect but ok) into my 2 week pre-surgery liquid diet and I tell you im having gas that will clear the room (for awhile)...LOL I was on the Daneil fast a month ago and had the same problem. I figured my body was adjusting to the intact. I went to Father Google and read it was normal. But I what im putting in can't be translating to the sulfar coming out. LOL smh. Anyone else had/has this problem? I had the EGD and everything is great. Maybe its the protein...
  9. I'm not sure I can do this without cheating. My job as a Software Engineer is very stressful! I have always been a stress eater. Everyone says I can do it but if I could I wouldn't need the "Tool" or surgery to help. The struggle is REAL!
  10. I actually think I look quite sexy in the undies. Curves in all the right places. The "Tool" is to help me control and not go up and down. I don't want to food to be the center of my live. I also have serveral serious comorbilities.
  11. thanks @@alwaysvegas I really needed that
  12. Big day for me is 24th. My mind is all over the place. 8 days to go...
  13. Anybody else out there with that date? Looking for a buddy...
  14. Well, I started to lose a little hope for getting approved. The doctor's office was moving and hired a new (inexperienced) insurance coordinator when I finished all the insurance prerequisites. I felt like I worked for the doctor's office because of all the calls I had to make to the insurance company with verifying what was needed and what was missing. What should have took only a couple of weeks took 2 months. I'm a woman of faith so the delay started me wondering if this is God's way of saying I should reconsider the surgery. I just completed the Daniel fast for 10 days and lost 6 lbs. Now I'm around 200 lbs at 5'3 BMI 35.4. My mind fluctuates every now and then but I still have the overshadowing feeling that I'm so tired of battling this weight. Will be scheduling surgery tomorrow!!!!!!

I feel you and have the same struggle with liquid diets. I too have to be on a two week diet prior to surgery.

    Surgery Feb 4th... Dr Almanza

Yeah!! I wish you the best. I'm still waiting to get insurance approval. Funny, I called the insurance company because I hadn't heard anything in 3 weeks and after one hour of allot of confusion, I found out the Dr.'s staff didn't fax my information to the insurance Urggggg!!! So the clock has been reset for me. Anyway, I too have Low BMI and the same concerns. I sometimes bounce back and forth with the idea of trying to loose the weight again on my own but I'm so tired of the yo yo effect. I'm getting to old for it and I truly am looking forward to getting to a healthy weight. One of my biggest fears is will I be able to complete the pre & post surgery liquid diet. I can't get my mind around it and my surgeon requires 2 weeks prior. I have never really been successful at completing any type of Fast. ;} I'm also concerned about getting too small but that will be a welcomed concern to have if it becomes an issue. Again the best wished....

    Low BMI and Gastric Sleeve

Psychiatrist was referring to 'other' people not family. I do have family support but I chose not to tell my young adult children.

    Nerves galore!

Since there is not long any term result statistics for the Gastric sleeve can you share some of the complications you have seen? @Okie_RN

Lower-end BMI Sleeve Surgery. Any others?

Good to see I'm not the only one out there with low BMI... thanks for your inputs
  23. @@ProjectMe your story sounds so familiar. I have always been thick but healthy and athletic. I had ACL repairs in both knees one in my late 30's playing basketball and 1 my early 40's playing softball. My athleticism, weight and injuries have come to haunt me in my forties. Yes I had that Aha moment when I realize being thick ain't (slang) cute when you are having trouble with HPB and walking. Optimistically hopeful for insurance approval.

Keeping it a secret? Anyone else

I decided not to share my decision with anybody except husband and few friends. My children (all girls) would tear me apart (2 in college and 25yr old in army). I'm a LOW BMI'er 36 and African American. Most would think I'm just right/phat/thick but they don't have understand the comorbidities I struggle with daily.
