    I am finally post op!

Congratulations!! I know the 1,000 sit-up feeling. I remember that more than anything!!

    Peanut butter

I can have Peanut Butter, but I have only had it a couple of times since surgery. It's one of those food that my taster has changed for, so I don't like it nearly as much as before surgery (it was my absolute favorite food before). Don't miss it all that much.

    Bra sizes!

I was a 40C and am now a 36DD -- band size has gotten smaller, boobs have stayed the same size!
  4. Check the app store. There is an update available.

Calories a day 3 months out

I can't tell what's good because I'm not a man. I am almost six months out and I still get under 800 a day. No troubles from that, I get plenty of Protein and fluids and I can run a 10k.

CPAP Machine. I have no love for it.

I had to go on CPAP to be approved for surgery. I used it for about a week postop, and then found that I would wake up about 3 hours after going to sleep and off came the mask, without really thinking about it. Haven't used it since. I don't think I have apnea anymore, though. When I get to the doc's goal weight, they will order a new sleep study. Hopefully that will be the end of it.

    Steak

I had steak about 8 weeks out -- a lean cut (top sirloin). I did fine with it. I have trouble with very fatty cuts of meat, but the leaner ones I do fine with.

What's your "weight loss pet peeve?"

This may sound funny, but I get so uncomfortable with all the church peeps raving about how great I look and how proud they are of me. I'm not one who likes being the center of attention. And then one person said this: "I was telling my husband that I would just do the quick and easy thing and have the surgery." I wanted to slap her. I said "if you think weight loss surgery is either quick or easy, you are not a good candidate for it." And I left it there. Otherwise, there's really nothing I don't like about this!! Oh, I hate shopping for new clothes. Okay, that's a lie. I love it. I love how great I look in my jeans today. And I love that while all the other parts of my have gotten smaller, my boobs have stayed the same!!!

    proudgrammy is very proud

Congratulations to you!!! I want to get rid of my turkey neck one day too -- out in the future when I'm done losing the weight. I can't wait to see pics of your even more beautiful face!!!
  10. It is unfortunate that you did not have the results you wanted from your surgery, whatever those desired results were. Many of us want health and energy and for our knees to no longer ache. When I was 24 (and still a size 6) all I wanted was a husband and my bachelor's degree. So I know that, had I been a candidate by virtue of my BMI, I would not have been nearly in the mindset that would have led to success with bariatric surgery. I think it's unfortunate that you were able to go do it in 2 weeks -- obviously the surgeon did not require a psych evaluation. I also find it amusing that the link you posted was to a diet page. With the headline "diets don't work." And then it goes down to give a diet. If you desire to believe the rubbish on that page, then it's okay. But if what you believed were not true, wouldn't you want to know?
  11. My husband and I don't have separate pantries, but we do have separate shelves in the pantry -- there is his shelf, with trail mix and Cookies and his favorite Fiber One bars and that stuff. Then there is my shelf, with Protein shakes, Protein Bars, and not much else!!
  12. Ziplocks. They fit in my purse. I have the bento box thing with the fancy little boxes that go inside it. But seriously, I don't eat nearly enough food to warrant something like that, and it just gives me extra dishes to wash. 3 ounces of Protein, a Protein shake and maybe a Greek yogurt come with me to work. That's it. I keep it simple.

    Refrigerator Help!

Nonfat plain Greek yogurt and some sugar free Torani syrups to flavor it. Don't need to get too much of any one thing because you will only be having a couple tablespoons at a time of anything. I stocked up on sweet things, and then post-op found that I wanted more savory things. So I had a bunch of sugar free home made custard (which was really good except I just didn't want anything sweet) and chocolate pudding that never got eaten!

This food is my new best friend !

I am not sure I could do them without them becoming sliders, but if they work for you that's great!!

Inner belly pain below LG incision

I had that for about a week. Even wound up in the ER (although if they had called the surgeon on call I would have been told it was fine). The inner sutures are dissolving and a little tiny bit of something is hanging in there, and between the healing and gravity (you're also losing fat in your abdomen), the suture is stretching and pulling. It should be gone within a few days.

What is your daily food intake?

I am 5 months postop, get about 600 calories a day. I work with a trainer 2x per week and he kicks my butt, and I can get through the workouts just fine. I also run 30-60 minutes 3 days a week. I eat mostly Protein. 3 ounces at a time fills me up.

    Getting Real

@@kblbe98, August 6 will be here faster than you think!!! When I had my surgery, I was working from home. I had surgery on Thursday, was discharged from hospital on Friday, and was back to work on Monday. Do I recommend that? Nope. I had the worst post-op brain fog on Monday!!! But Tuesday I was fine. I worked mostly from the couch or from my bed with the wedge pillow holding me upright -- if you have a recliner or something, that would be ideal. So yes, 2 weeks should be good especially if you work from home!!

    Post-op day 2 and regretting

@@sleevenv, that is an amazing story -- and my surgeon said the same thing about caffeine in that it increases risk of a GI bleed. Oral corticosteroids and NSAIDS can do it as well -- which is why they said not to use any of this stuff!! I've been off caffeine for over six months, haven't had a soda in I don't know how long. It has become my new normal. I pray your brother improves.

    Salads!

I've been eating salads since 6 weeks postop, but nothing remotely like I ate them pre-op -- I can handle half cup of salad plus Protein at the most. No big huge bowls of it anymore!

    Head hunger..

Those first two weeks post-op I realized just how many hamburger commercials are on TV. I just wanted to chew. But I didn't -- I stayed on the full liquids and advanced my diet according to my surgeons's instructions. Just tell yourself that you did this to make that major lifestyle change, and that you WILL get through this time.
  21. LisaPunkinHead

    Protein shakes

I have Premier Protein chocolate for Breakfast every day. I have a few vanilla ones in there but I like the chocolate better, which is sort of strange because I don't really like chocolate things since my surgery!!

3 weeks out and struggling - need advice

I'm 5 months out today, and I'm in a bit of a stall on the scale this week -- BUT my trainer has kicked my behind the last few weeks, and all my clothes are too big. Point being -- the scale is not the only measurement of our success!!

    Post-op day 2 and regretting

As for the Tylenol, I had my husband get me some children's Tylenol when I was immediately postop. Turns out I never used it.

    Post-op day 2 and regretting

I had that feeling when I woke up from surgery, lololol!! The first thought in my head after the nurse woke me up was "what did I just do." It was a tough couple of days, but each day after was remarkably better than the day before. Yes, it gets better. And yes, I'd do it again in a heartbeat!
  25. I hate to break this to you, but that's the post-op diet too. It's even more restrictive immediately postop and for many months after that. Protein, veggies, yogurt. That's about what I eat.
