  1. I have been overweight for most of my life, I tried different diets that worked for awhile but then I would not only regain what I lost but gain even more. A several years ago my sister lent me her Jillian Michaels DVD set which I completely loved, but after two months I lost interest and a change in career had me going back to my old habits. I loved working out and eating healthy but after a long day at work I was starving so my husband and I would go home and eat til I was so full that I did not have the energy to go to the gym. This went on for a few of years until I got to the point when I would look at myself in the mirror and say to myself "this is me, I'm always going to be this fat, I can't change it, I can't do anything about it so I might as well keep eating." I pretty much have up on myself, then on November of 2014 I received a family photo of my mom, sister, daughter and I at a wedding and I did not recognize myself. I could not believe how far I had let myself go, this made me finally decide to take charge of my life. A month later I had my Sleeve done. A year later I love my self more than ever. I love working out, I love eating well, I love the energy I have, I love being able to play with my daughter and I love that I can dress sexy for my husband! My stats: Date of surgery: 12/22/14 HW: 265 SW: 255 CW: 157 BMI: 39.8 / 28.1 Measurements: Before. After. Difference Chest: 129cm. 97cm. 32cm Waist: 129cm. 84cm. 45cm Hips: 136cm. 105cm. 31cm Arms: 39cm. 28cm. 11cm Legs: 76cm. 52cm. 24cm https://youtu.be/wIwL2YIzELs

    omg..I am an idiot...

I have never been a drinker, before my sleeve I would get drunk after 3-4 glasses of mix drinks. Last week we went out to our favorite club and got very tipsy after one full shot and two shots of half vodka with rockstar recovery. No hangover though! The worst was a swig I had of a Peach Moscato, OMFG.... Never again! Moscato was my favorite wine but now I felt like my stomach and esophagus was on FIRE! Not sure if it's because it's a different brand, different flavor or simply because my stomach just couldn't handle the alcohol with high sugar content that this type of wine has. I do know something though, no more sweet wine for me.
  4. I'm in "maintenance" for a bit while I let my body catch up and recover. I have been at 154-158 for about two months and I'm good with that, I am below my first weight goal which was 160, now my second weight goal is 140 + 5-10 lbs in muscle mass so I'm very close. Seeing the scale go up and down around these numbers is not a big deal so long as I don't see it go over 160.
  5. I had my sleeve almost a year ago on 12/22/14 right before my birthday! It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. HW: 265 SW: 255 CW: 156 GW: 140

    Sex & romance post op.

I had the same question, I just waited until I felt it was the right time, about three weeks. I know it's hard on both you and the hubby but it's better to wait and be safe than get careless and get injured. Take it slowly, you'll get there soon enough and you will enjoy it that much more! Sex after WLS is amazing!

    Any December Sleevers

Hello December Sleevers!!! It's been a while and I wanted to ask how ya'll are doing?!?! I'm sure some of you are asking yourselves if you're still on track, "am I loosing enough?" is a question often in my mind. I was sleeved on December 22nd, I started my journey at a little over 260lbs and I am currently 210. I went through a 4 week stall but I decided to kick my butt into gear and went and got a trainer, now he's the one that kicks my butt! I've been working out 4-5 days a week and train 10 times a month (I just finished my first month last week). Currently I am averaging 4lbs a week, I've gone from size 22 pants to 16. My food intake is somewhere around 900 calories. Hope everyone is doing well!!!

    Hello.

Congratulations Jason! The EAS Myoplex is one of the few Protein shakes I like, I found them at my local Wal-Mart. Another of my favorite are the Premier Protein Shakes, I found them at costco and each is 30g of protein and only 160 calories.
  9. I thought I was hungry all the time too because I felt a hollow feeling at the top of my stomach then I realized that between all the meds I had to take I forgot to take my prescribed anti-acid pills. After a couple of days the feeling is gone. You should tell your doc about it and if you do have that hollowness then it more than likely is acid.

Avhick MyFitnessPal is a program that helps you track your workouts and nutrition (meals), it's a wonderful app! I find it specially helpful right now because it gives me a breakdown of all the nutrients in taking in specially my protein, I know I'm not taking in enough so being able to see it in actual numbers is helping me to increase my intake.

    Got my sleeve yesterday!

Thinkbruce I love your video and I must say I completely understand what you mean, I was in the same boat, eating healthy and exercising everyday while battling with my stomach's demand to be fed. Do you recall how many calories you would eat at each stage? How many to you take in now? I am currently 12 days post op and I'm taking little under 300 calories, I'm having a hard time taking my Protein, everything I've tried tastes disgusting to me. Thank you for sharing your success story with us.

    Will be having surgery soon

Make sure you tell your doctor about your cold so they can tell you what meds you can take. I was sick for three weeks before my surgery and that day I still had coughing and some chest congestion but everything went well. I was so scared that I would start coughing during the operation but that won't happen when being completely under anesthesia. Hope you feel better soon and congratulations on your weight loss so far. Good job!!!

Here's my update: Sleeved 12/22 at 250 lbs, currently at 238 lbs, that's 12 pounds lost in 12 days. I'm starting to enter all my meals in myfitnesspal too and so far I'm having a little under 300 calories a day, I still have about 2 1/2 weeks in phase 2 (full liquids + some mushy foods).

nanpan, I'm the same, it seems I have a bowel movement once every three or four days and it's still a little. I was told it was normal, I rather wait and have a solid poopie than have constant lose stool.

    Hello.

Honestly, if you don't feel comfortable then don't! If you know you are going to be stressed out and they won't be supporting you then why even consider staying with them? Unless you have a serious conversation with then about the issues? I hope you can work this out with your family.

    Who Are You?

Love this thread! My name is Monica from south Texas. I've been married to my wonderful husband Truman for 9 years and have one beautiful 5 y/o daughter. I have had a few retail jobs but am now on my second year as a Middle School Technology teacher and I love it. I am an outgoing person and am always looking to learn and try new things. I like to read science fiction and young adult novels, my favorite kind of music is electronic dance and techno. I love going out on special dates with my husband and spend quality family time with our daughter.

@@kharoyl Hang in there girl! You can do it! mslady, How much Water are you drinking? At first I was only able to drink a few spoonfuls then increase my intake little by little depending on how I felt. I was a huge water drinker and now I see a big glass of cold water and I wish I could chug it :/ but it's ok. cutee1985, At home I put away most of our plates and cups and replaced them with baby plates and 4 oz cups so that I won't waste food. The only thing I do use a larger container is for my water. I'm having trouble taking my protein! Any suggestions? I have the ISO Pure Fruit drinks and powder, today I tried the strawberry Muscle Milk... Yuck!

    Hello.

Welcome Jason from Houston! I joined this group little before my surgery and I too wish I would have found it well before my surgery, I'm sure it would have helped with the stress of the unknown. I'm sure you will find a lot of helpful information here but do be careful when reading posts about complications. You must remember that complications are rare and that as with any other kind of surgery there are risks, but it is good to know what you are getting into. In the case of WLS, I feel the benefits outweigh the risks. My advise for you is to ask yourself: Do I want to do this surgery for me? Can I live without fatty and sugary foods? Can I deal with not having my favorite foods? If you answer yes to these questions then you more than likely not regret being sleeved. Oh and as far as your favorite foods, eventually you might be able to eat them in moderation but be careful because that's when people can loose track of themselves and make the surgery a failure. Welcome to your journey in becoming a healthier and happier Jason!
