I got the results back from my preop bloodwork. Excuse me for the forthcoming snarky comment.... Nurse says hey Tricia, did you know you are anemic? Why yes, have been all my life, duh, pale skin redheads usually are. Nurse: Just wanted to be sure you knew. This will mean you might have to take an additional iron supplement postop. Ok *rollseyes* -

Shadow is an Domestic American Shorthair bobtail, we were told by the rescue she was either part bobcat or part manx. All I know is she refuses to let me up and has pinned me to the chair lol. -

I already had my husband do the freak out only he lost his temper lol.Did it a couple of weeks ago where he was a pissed off man at everything lol. I fussed at him over not fixing something before it broke and he just lost it completely. He yelled about everything being wrong, tried to pull the pity card, etc, so while he was in his tantrum I left to run errands for a few hrs to give him time to cool off, came home and he started again....over jello. He had told me he wanted some lime jello to eat when I snacked on my sugar free stuff. Well the store didn't have lime so I grabbed cherry, oh boy that started the yelling anew lol. He stormed out and left, he needed to cool off and took a drive. Also stopped at a different store and got his lime jello! Took a few days but he finally admitted he's scared of losing me. Says he knows he shouldn't worry, but can't help it. Also not liking it that he has to leave me at the preop door because he's allergic to alcohol. -

Ketosis changes the way the body smells, my husband hasn't complained yet, so I'm assuming it's not that bad yet. I can tell the cat notices the changes in me because she's racing around the house with me and if I'm in the kitchen, she sits on the floor out of the way somewhere to watch me. If in the livingroom or bedroom she needs to have closeness. My bedroom has 2 doors to it, a standard door from the livingroom, the other is a folding door that hides access to the middle bedroom where hubby setup his office. We generally leave that door open along with the door to the middle bedroom so she come and go as she needs. If she leaves the bedroom and can't see me, she will cry until someone tells her to "go around", then she assures herself I'm here and ok before she will settle. I'd say it's a silly thing on her part, but she's seen my medical crisis' before. At 14 yrs old she's seen everything with me happen, she's also lost all the cats she was raised with too. I suspect in her own mind she worries something bad is happening with me and she's going to lose me too. I got up this morning. @6:45, she has been glued to me since, glued to my right hip. I wish I could tell her I'm ok and the changes she senses are ok and expected. Best thing I can do to help her is be calm and love her the next few days -

The 1st week wasn't so bad, other than my sugar crashing, I got all my shakes in yestetday, and all my water and tea requirements, even made.a huge pot of chili yesterday for the hubby and roomies to come close to lasting through next weekend. Between hard boiled eggs, chili, tacos and veggies, I think everyone may yet survive until I can stand long enough to cook postop. Even the cat is freaking out a bit and getting clingy as she sees and smells the changes with me. I can tell she worries, she's our cat, but she was for many yrs hubby's cat, now that she is the only surviving cat of the cats she was raised with, she spends a lot of time with me. Anyone else notice the pets being extra clingy preop? -
Oh great, everyone around me is going to go through hell, I'm already a hot tempered, speak my mind redhead, a week from yesterday I have the RNY done. I've always been laid back and easy going, but when pregnant or recovering from surgery I'm not a nice person to be around. Even when in a lot of pain I tend to snap a bit. I wonder if the 23 yr old roommate can handle me on a short leash, I know the hubby can handle me pissed off, he generally throws a stuffed animal in my direction and tells me to cool it.....well one can hope we can. Anyway, back to the regularly scheduled programming.

I did a weigh in, had my vitals done, answered a lot of questions about my general health and wellbeing Even though I don't have sleep apnea, after answering all the questions I will be treated as if I have it. Better safe than sorry I suppose. I got an up to date ekg done as well because mine was over 6 months old. And the vampires got me! 7 vials of blood to check everything from my blood type to if I have smoked recently. (Btw, I'm a nonsmoker) Also all my vitamin levels were checked, and if I need to take vitamins between now and monday I will get a call. All in all I was in and out in about an hour and a half. I'll learn Fri afternoon what my appointment time is next Monday. I was told by the nurse coordinator at the surgeon's office she was going to try to get me in 1st thing monday morning, I hope so, otherwise it will be a long day without anything to drink. Good luck to everyone who has surgery with me next week. I'll attempt to have my husband update everyone postop if I'm not up to it.

I had my hospital preop appointment today. It went well. I also lost a few more pounds, so the preop diet works! Felt better today too, so maybe the blood sugar levels are leveling out.

Had my preop appointment today, I lost abt another 10lbs! Go me! Hubby even mentioned my reward from him for my dedication to the plan and the current and future weight loss is the navel ring he offered as incentive yrs ago if I ever got back to a healthy weight. Said I can get my belly tat once I heal and decide whether I need skin removed. Its really starting feel real now. -

Yay, I survived week 1 I think, start all shakes part on monday, bring on the low blood sugar issues. -
I finally figured out my issue, my bloodsugar is crashing in thw late afternoon/early evening to the point I pass out. I'm not diabetic, but it was suspected I had low blood sugar, when I was in high school and college. Seems 20 yrs later that it's rearing an ugly head again. Last night I passed out for 3 hrs. Calling the surgeon means delaying surgery again. Maybe by the 2nd I will have adjusted to this. Husband said no more afternoon driving for me.

I feel like I'm starving and sick, and it's not head hunger, I know the difference. Been dizzy and feeling like I'm going to blackout and haven't started the all shakes week yet. And it's not getting better. I'm not sure what to do.

To hospital or not? Help
GAWildKat replied to bellabloom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my gallbladder removed in 2005, I was necrotic, I am one of the walking "worse case scenarios" type people at the time I had my gallbladder removed. I was in liver failure, my pcp thought I was having heart troubles, and those do run in my family, so every heart test available was done, nothing off the wall, so when I woke one day so sick I couldn't walk a friend rushed me to her office, I was in liver failure, more tests, etc, nothing showing a reason to be sick. Long story short, a few weeks later a smart ER doc diagnosed me with gallstones, sen me back to my pcp to get tested and referred to a surgeon, had surgery a month after the ultrasound. I had been sick since 2001, that's 4 yrs of suffering with gallstones and pain. Surgeon said I could have died from the gangrene in my gallbladder, he said another week and I might not be resting quietly in recovery. Don't be me! Relatively speaking, I didn't feel terribly ill but I must have been. -

I'm on day 3 and it's driving me nuts lol. Sitting here doing the 2nd of 2 snacks today -
I went by the shopping list the doc gave me.

I already stocked up a couple of weeks ago. Got a lot of sugar free jello, and instead of bouillon got salt free stock, since I'm on a low salt diet. I just got home from getting a unit of blood set aside just in case, boy am I tired now. I still haven't gotten the Popsicles, nor have I made jello yet unless you count the jello shots I made over the weekend. Lol..The rest of the house can enjoy them now, I will take my sugar free

Is this a preop smoothie or postop, my doc said no added extras to mine preop, and I'm officially on day 1 of the preop diet. He uses the KetogenX diet.

I have a couple of grown kids that aren't mine that spend most of their time here, that said, one is a lanky 6'4 23yr old that can eat 4times what I can, and his gf who like me needs to lose weight. Da hubby eats a lot like I do, but doesn't have my weight issues. Mine started when I was put on depo, I mean you shouldn't gain weight on the lean cuisine meals right? I did. Breakfast used to be 2 eggs and a cup of coffee, or a bowl of cereal and coffee, lunch and dinner were lean cuisine meals. Monday I start week 1 of the preop diet...jello shooters here I come lol -
