4jin, Thank you so much for responding. Yes, I have done the research and there are pro's and con's with either surgery. I'm still processing everything. PCOS is so damaging to one's body. I have an advanced stage of PCOS. Meaning 7-8 years without cycles, my levels are extremely high. Based on research dramatic weight loss is needed to help with PCOS. However, my biggest concern is my heart enlarging due to my sleep apena. If pregnacy doesn't happen, that's fine. With ever God's will is for that is fine with me. PCOS is a mess, you can lose weight with PCOS but it still causes the body to process food differently and the weight comes back. Please keep me in your prayers. My focus is on my heart. thank you 4JIN for communicating with me. I'm here to support you too! Keep me updated!

OMGoodness!!!!!!!!!!Great NEWs! 4jin and guess what!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm approved today!10 day wait! but...the other news is the surgeon called me today...I asked him for one last research on my situation once I found that PCOS bandsters were having a hard time losing, maintaining and just regaining back....also the problem the with band slipping during pregnancy. Well he said he highly recommends the gastric bypass. And yes, I trust him. I have a really bad advanced stage of PCOS. (poly cystic ovarian syndrome). I've had three IVF's and made it to month 5 with all three babies. Because of PCOS, my male horomone overrides and slowly stops the babies heart beat. So they have to take the baby because my body never passes the baby on its own. PCOS is not my friend! I'm sitting here scared with tears because I was hoping the band would work for someone like me. I need all the prayers I can get!

sharona I just went throught that! I went to Red Lobster 3 times in the pass 2 weeks. I ate shrimp so I didn't feel too bad! Now I'm in the phrase of not really eating at all. But what you are you feeling is normal. Just try to eat more fruit and veggies. I finished my last dietian appt on the 8th and I thought that the insurance process would go faster and I know it's only 9 days but I had no clue since all insurance companies are different. Now, when the insurance is approved.. I have a preop appt and a week or two of full liquids so Feb here I come.

4jin I am praying for you! I understand you completely. I think you have been patient long enough! But remember that everything happens for a reason so yours being delayed I'm sure was God's timing and not ours. Also, you did the right thing, just hang in there. I called Anthem today just to confirm that they all the docs they needed. The lady said, hold on....which seemed like a year. Finally, she says..everything seems to be but we are behind by several days and that it normally doesn't take long. She told me if I didn't hear anything back by Wed to call back. That made me feel better but I'm still watching the website every hour...this is really sick. Yes, you should be an honourable Jan Bandster and guess what since you don't have preop like me...it's not too late really to be banded this month. Be encouraged!

4JIN:yes, I am also happy you found someone that took their time. You and me both my not be Jan Bandsters but atleast Feb is less than 14 days way! Finally, the request appears on the website that I have access to 24 hrs a day but it only tells me the date they got it and status (pending). And you can bet your bottom, I'm pulling and refreshing that site every hr on the hr. yep, we'll just keep praying that something happens quick... Question...how long do you have to be on liquids b/4 surgery?

4JIN...lol...I slept on the floor for 3 reasons...I was too moody and I know if had touch me..he would have hit the floor. Second, I'm just too stressed and my bed doesn't not feel good right now. Third, he's up and down alllllllll night which breaks my sleep. I think it all broils down to me being very, extremely moody.

So sorry to hear your situation but don't give up. I have Anthem BCBS of Ohio and they are strict but should check for sleep apena. Mine was brought on by my weight gain. I'm at 250, bmi 41 currently and I have mild sleep apena. So just for that, it's important.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! I called today to see if they (Anthem) had received ALL information. The first lady came on rude,,like she didn't like her job. She told me to call another number so I did. That lady acted as if it was her last day and just didn't care...good news is that they did receive it and that it's pending view. Also, while waiting on hold, I heard the information on e-reveiw....what a joke...so i asked the lady about it and she said: I don't know anything about it but I will trans...and that's all I heard because she transfered me so fast it cut off the end of your conversation. I just want to go to the building and start firing rude, over-worked, burnt out employees.........................talk about moody...I had to sleep on the floor last night because my husband would have moved out this morning. i don't know if I should cry or laugh!

hello everyone! I'm so glad to see this post and now I know somewhat to expect now. ajin: hang in there I know that these situations are not always in our favor. I'm very moody too. my dietian released me on Tuesday, but I called Tuesday morning prior to the appt to see if she had everything she needed. oh was I heated....seems like she didn't really know what she was doing and she even said, "ok hold on...don't want to seem like I don't know what I'm doing. OHHHHHHHH, So, Wed I called and asked if she had received my Psych eval and she said..well she asked if I had paid it in full.....I said yes and I have the documentation. So I called Thurs to confirm again and finally she did. I called on Friday to see if she had even submitted it. I knew in my heart she had not. So, she says so I'm sending yours tonight before I leave......WHAT. She hadn't even started on my letter. I have Anthem BC/BS of Ohio. I have access to the site so I will watch everyday, all day for my approval. I have never been this MEAN...... The wait is on!!!!!!!

Hi HeatherA, Yes, I'm with Fresh Start! I'm nervous and was expecting to have my information sent to insurance no longer than Thurs. But they were faxed on Friday evening. Meaning Monday, so I guess the wait starts tomorrow. Yes, I would love to attend the support group because I need that support really bad. Looks like Feb 9th is the day at Polaris. Well the wait is on now! My dietian released me yesterday so now I'm waiting for approval. I keep hearing different time frames, 10 days, to 3 weeks to a min of a month. This sucks! I prefer surgery end of Jan, I have so much traveling to do starting in March. I decided to stay with the band. I desire pregnancy later so I believe this is the best option for me.

Welcome, My Dr (Dr Myers/Riverside/OH) stated that lap band weight loss depends on the personal but by nature is a slower process than gastric bypass.

the thing that scared me the most was death due to complication after WLS. Honestly!!! Most deaths were a result of heart disease, lung disease, bad stomach disorders and sever sleep apena. After all my test were good, I started thinking about RNY...I haven't totally decided that because yet today I was weighing the pro's and con's...the lap band is still in running.

talk about discomfort...I have had mine for 4+years now and i've used it unless than half of the time. I did change to the breeze, which helped alittle. I have wake up with it on anyways. I just redid my sleep study and I'm still on the lowest level (4). I sleep well on my sides, really the left. However, my sinus problems worsen with the cpap. I hate it but my dr won't do surgery until I have used it 4 wks straight before surgery and all through surgery and after until further notice. my husband doesn't say a word to me when I have it on. yes...my mouth is dry too every morning.

NOREGRETS I'm with you, I completely understand. I was totally against this for years. I could not even understand why surgery. I'm like you too, I carry my weight well, I'm was 251 now 248 and no one ever guess my weight, they are always 50+ pounds. I didn't discuss with hubby until I was 200% sure of what I wanted. Since then I have done every test to ensure low risk with surgery. I decided on lap band due to research. Since all my test have returned good, I'm now considering RNY. I too have high cholestrol, sleep apena, high blood pressure, high insulin levels, PCOS, infertility due to weight and my BMI is 41.8.

The fact you've dated a black man and have a mixed child doesn't mean you are not races. My stepfather is white,,,I have two mixed sibling and I've dated white males, point is that means nothing. smsmithart Orpah should support African Americans, in mean that's who she is. I agree it is about the rating also and sponsors, they are important shareholders. This is funny!! if Orpah supported blacks only...YOU (meaning all other races) wouldn't watch her. ALL Bottom line--don't HATE on Oprah because you couldn't afford her!!! She's a professional strong black women making more money than 5 generations of your family would make. Make that money Oprah!!!

It's not about him being black at all, if that was the case you would see more blacks in the audiences and her support of OUR race fully.

Hi Hunter, I had mine at Marion Area Health here in Marion about 45mins from Columbus. I go back for my 2nd dietary visit next Tuesday, not sure how this will go....I lost 1 lb the first week after my initial visit and gained it back. Not sure why because my stomach has been upset for two wks now. Hunter did you lose any weight between your first and second dietary visit?

HeatherA,,,I took your advise and looked at the number of deaths associated with obesity. And I have found my way again. I decided to personal take more test to ensure I'm ok for surgery since all most of test are a year old or more. since I was so stressed out I ask the Cardiologist to check again for heart related issues, that PET test is scheduled for Dec 15th. I took another sleep study last night to make sure the my pressure was right since Dr Myers states the Cpap must be used every night before surgery and after. I'm only on pressure 4 which is the lowest pressure available. Anyone else using a Cpap?
