Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)
SeptemberSlimmer1960 replied to Need-a-Sleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved 12/17. I also have 3 kids. Meal times are challenging but doable with a supportive spouse on your side! It gets better, just hang in there. -
Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)
SeptemberSlimmer1960 replied to Need-a-Sleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, I'm Terosia. I've been a nurse for 27 years, mostly in high risk labor & delivery, Antepartum and postpartum. Currently, I do case management with a company that does prenatal and postpartum home visits. I was sleeved on 12/17. Down 36 pounds so far. I'm starting to tolerate things a little better, getting used to my new self one day at a time. A couple of setbacks was an opened incision which has now closed and an infection, H. Pylori, currently being treated and continued bradycardia. I'm going to the doctor today to address this. Not yet meeting my minimum intake of water or protein, but I'm doing significantly better than last week, making slow but steady progress. Praying everyday that I continue to have success with what I feel has been a tool and a gift. -
Bandages for how long?
SeptemberSlimmer1960 replied to hdd55146's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Missouri Sleever ~ no drains or bandages, just glue. Healing nicely, despite this crazy itching which my doctor said was a s/o healing, and occasional burning sensation. -

Depressed
SeptemberSlimmer1960 replied to krisstep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I have and still do occasionally. I had random crying spells and didn't want to be bothered spells even with my husband and kids! It's not as often and getting better! What did I do? Allow my family to support me from afar, to pray with and for me, I've talked to close girlfriends about it and gotten excellent advice about having an environment that promotes peace, tranquility and healing. I get out and walk more, listen to my favorite music and meditate. I do nice things for myself and treat me every now and again. All of this has and continues to help! I hope you start feeling better soon! If not, seek assistance from your doctor. As a preoperative requirement, we had to be cleared by a psychiatrist. This may be a resource for you as well! God bless! Merry Christmas! -
Got my sleeve on 12-23-2014... Now for the questions
SeptemberSlimmer1960 replied to Shace's topic in The Guys’ Room
My first few days were weird. I was sleeved 12/17. I was gassy as could be! I'd run (lol) to the toilet thinking, surely I've got to have a bowel movement, even knowing I hadn't eaten any solid food; and I'd let out an Olympian pool sized ginormous gas! Air freshener is one of my better friends now. I still struggle to get in all the required liquids amounts and protein. I just get full way too fast. I have less physical energy than a gnat and find I have to rest frequently than before. I'm also learning to listen to my new self more each day and learning her cues, learning to take smaller amounts, bites and sips. I'm also learning to deal with food variety, or lack thereof, boredom. This same old, same old, broth, jello, water, juice! Please, if I never see another sugar-free Popsicle, it won't be too soon! So, basically I just tKe one day at a time, pace myself, and keep moving! It is the beginning of a lifelong journey with my new self and believe me, we're both adjusting! This is permanent and so I'm committed to not mucking this up. I have my good days and my bad days, but I don't cheat. Since the procedure, I've lost weight. 23 pounds since the 17th! I'm happy with that! -
Who Are You?
SeptemberSlimmer1960 replied to illgeturhairdid's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, my name is Terosia and I'm a 54-year old married nurse to a retired vet/postal worker. I'm from a family of 16 siblings. My hubby and I have a perfect blended family of natural, foster, adoptive, step, god and grand children. We are both active in our respective churches and involved in community outreach. I have been a big girl since birth and never really attempted to do anything major until my health began to be adversely affected. It's not an easy journey but the long term benefits will be worth it! -
Christmas and New Years Dinner - PUREE ANYONE?
SeptemberSlimmer1960 replied to Benji27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved on 12/17 and wondering what I can fit into my week 2 that just happens to fall on Christmas, besides sugar-free chocolate pudding, that is, lol! And btw, I'm pretty much sick to death of sf Popsicles and jello, blech! Rant over! For now. -
5 days post op
SeptemberSlimmer1960 replied to krisstep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LindaGsjourney, I was sleeved 12/17. I'm struggling to get enough of everything in. It's like there's not enough room! Hopefully the feeling of being cold now, the cranky, out-of-sorts feelings, gas and all will pass soon. I wish I could find a variety pack protein sampler, though! Sigh! Rant over . . . for now. -

I am feeling fine but I get full really quickly! I don't have very much of an appetite either! My struggle is this clear liquid diet. But next week I can have pudding - sugar free of course, but pudding, grits, oatmeal and cream of wheat! Yummy! I'm pretty sick of Popsicles and jello, bleh. Not a lot of pain though! I would love to have someone to start walking with though if you and some others are interested. I live close to Heman Park. -

Hello, I'm in St. Louis, University City to be exact and I was sleeved on 12/17 by Dr. Minkin at Des Peres Hospital! I had a good experience and little complications, mostly grumbly tummy and gassiness. I would love to be a sleeve buddy! Already down 20 pounds! Half of my medications have been stopped. -

Sleeve Buddy in Missouri
SeptemberSlimmer1960 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeve Buddy: I'm having my sleeve on Wednesday 12/17! Super excited but a bit nervous also. I would love to partner up with someone who is having the same procedure before, on, or after the 17th. It would be even better if I could find someone in my area. St. Louis, Missouri! Thanks! -
Sleeve Buddy in Missouri
SeptemberSlimmer1960 replied to SeptemberSlimmer1960's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor and nutritionist recommended broths without chunks or pieces of meat or veggies. Chicken broth by Swanson is by far the best tasting and knocks that hunger back down to a manageable level. That veggie broth is okay also. -
