Are you following a Paleo Diet?
mrs kaje replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I recognise it does depend on each individual's requirements, so everything has to be changed to suit yourself. I didn't mean to imply I thought everyone should be able to eat everything. - I was more thinking of the other angle that the diet dictates what you do and don't eat, not your own circumstances, if that makes sense (e.g. a diet may tell me not to eat something that my body is perfectly happy to accept and process without any issues). -
I only get to about 500 by 5.30pm so it's hard to catch up - I'm not being modest, they are seriously low, but I'm fine with that ☺

Ooh, I hope I lose some height!
-
I can see it in the way the top of your butt starts at a lower point (side-on), smaller boobs, less width to each side of the belly button (front-on), smaller lower-belly, less upper arm (compare how much of it you can see behind your forearm, in the front-on pics) and a longer, leaner line down to your navel instead of a big outwards curve (side-on) ☺ If you can, photograph yourself standing with your heels against a door - you'll be able to see your silhouette shrinking as the panelling detail gives you something to visually measure against.

Here's What 5 Months Can Do
mrs kaje replied to mnmlst's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your smile in the 'after' says it all! Amazing progress. -
Activity Tracker/MyFitnessPal
mrs kaje replied to Terry Lincoln's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
On the app, tap on Goals in the menu and there is a Nutrition Goals section where you can change everything. Can't remember where to do this on the website, but it will be a similar process. -
Requests sent to everyone who has listed their email above I will be the one who makes you all feel superior, with my pathetically small number of steps!

Are you following a Paleo Diet?
mrs kaje replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Any diet/eating plan that "bans" any food type/group always gives me the impression it's a fad, and slightly crazy. -
Domino's Gluten Free Pizza?
mrs kaje replied to kcdavidson42's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure about US, but in Aus some of the gluten free varieties work out at more calories than some other options. I just opt for a thin crust with sensible toppings. -
Whst would you do in my situation?
mrs kaje replied to allyray's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wait and see what your date is first, then decide what to do, I guess. What if she's sick for the next couple of years? \Are you prepared to wait? -
Same! Instead of showing them six weeks later (as they do on one show I watch), I wish they'd go back six or even twelve months later, so you can actually see how they have changed over time.

Ah, gotcha ☺

A pint is 600ml - did you mean something else instead of pint?

I'd actually prefer to read comments that are unashamedly nasty instead of the posts that are peppered with smiley faces and "you have a wonderful day" because they think it makes them look like they're being nice whilst they're being a jerk - they're not fooling anyone!

Having doubts -- still a food centered life?
mrs kaje replied to Thinside's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmm, before I logged on here, I was updating my spreadsheets and adding a few more series of data to my graphs, fun stuff like that. I get obsessed, too. It doesn't take me "10 minutes" to log - I could easily spend a good hour a day logging, planning, updating, etc. Plus all the weighing and prep. It's not just time consuming, it's bloody inconvenient. In the past, if I couldn't record something (and with the correct weight, down the to the gram) I would just record nothing for the whole day rather than have it be incorrect. Then of course I would go off the rails and weeks later I'd remember I tried to go on a diet recently... I think I've only been able to stay on track this year because of the promise of surgery at the end of the year. I would just like to not have to think about it too much - at the moment I go from one extreme to the other - I just want 'normal' for once. -
When I see a seriously overweight young woman, I have this overwhelming urge...
mrs kaje replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
The girl I work with is a bit overweight - about twice a day I hear a chip or chocolate packet rustling behind me and then comes the crunching. I feel like saying to her, "Stop it right now unless you want to end up like me!". -
I had trouble walking the same distance on a treadmill that I can outside. It wasn't the distance, but the boredom. I now watch movies on my Kindle or listen to eBooks, using headphones to drown out the sound of the motor.

If people get so butthurt by 'harsh' comments on this forum, I'd love to see their reaction some of the stuff on these sites ????

Re Sleeve after weight gain?
mrs kaje replied to frumpy69's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Totally agree with this. Avoiding these has been what I have done for 17 months now and I truly believe this is why I don't have the cravings any longer. I don't deprive myself, I just no longer have the taste.Same here. I find if I do feel like carbs/sugar and eat even a small, sensible amount, the next few days I crave more and more if it, and they get harder to resist. -
After my absolutely pathetic last two weeks, I'm happy to find I've lost 8.93lb this week - CW 270.95lb. Thanks, Susan.

One Year of Weight Loss--Graphed!
mrs kaje replied to alwaysvegas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You had me at 'graph'. -
My surgeon said he doesn't use drains (or catheters) as he wants us up and about straight after surgery.

Choosing Fat over Sugar?
mrs kaje replied to DizzyLib's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I dieted in the past, I watched calories and fat. This time (I'm still pre-op) I'm paying attention to calories, Protein and carbs - for me, it's working so much better. I ignore fat content completely. I told my dietitian that I'm not paying attention to fat and she didn't bat an eyelid. I figure if she thought it wasn't the best idea, she'd have said something. -
Well, that says it all. Good on you for putting yourself first, because obviously no one else is. I've had my date for exactly a month, now, but I haven't told my husband yet. I think he thinks I've gone off the idea as I haven't mentioned it since before Christmas. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow

So I have heard contradictory stories.....why are we not suppose to drink from a straw?
mrs kaje replied to Thinkingthinner1109's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been drinking Protein shakes with a straw because for some reason I can't stand to drink them straight from a glass (and even less so from the drink-blender bottle). I've been paying attention, and I think I actually introduce less (even no) air with a straw than I do drinking normally. I keep the straw right at the bottom of the glass, and I don't try and suck up every single drop at the end like a child, so no air at all is coming up that damn straw. My dietitian advised against them, but I think this is the only advice so far that I'm going to ignore post-op. Sue me.
