January 15th here. My surgeon doesn't require a pre op diet other than clears the day before. I'm ready for post-op, though--got several different kinds of protein shakes laid in to see which I like.
-
I'm one who doesn't have a pre-diet, so I seem to vacillate between wanting to eat all the things I'll never eat again, and wanting to practice my new skills--chewing very thoroughly, no Water with meals, drinking 8 glasses a day, focusing on Protein. Mostly I've been doing the practice, but I admit to having a red velvet donut from an amazing local place this weekend. I guess I'm starting to mourn food already. Thoughts?

Mine is to do what it takes to get healthy this year, starting with surgery on the 15th.

What are you most anxious about/excited for?
ThreeCrows replied to ThreeCrows's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I don't think I've ever been smaller than my husband. That will be a new experience! I was pretty chubby when we got married... About 20 pound over my goal weight. And that was over 20 years ago! Nice goals, all! -

I'm set up with MFP, and I'm planning on using it to track food and exercise. Im still a month out from surgery, so it won't be that exciting for a while! Anyhow, I'm wondering if folks would like to share screen names so we can grow our friend lists and support each other there as well. My screen name is: threecrows --Kay -
Sharing very little with very few
ThreeCrows replied to anaxila's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
@@anaxila I love your story! Glad you could talk to your boss. I realized I need to tell people up front, rather than chasing the rumor mill from the back end. I'm a pastor, so hundreds of people are looking right at me every week. They will notice. If I'm gone two weeks, then reappear and start dropping weight, it would be very obvious what I did, and set a bad precedent that weight struggles are to be ashamed of. So I started a month ago telling a few of the most gossip-y people I know. Now I don't have to speak to everyone about it, and the word is out. One of my best supporters is a colleague with no weight problem herself, but who is really wanting to help me get healthy. It's been great to have someone non-judgey to talk to. So far, all the comments made to me have been positive, including some people who kind of want WLS but are afraid. They are watching my experience closely. -

January RNY Surgery

@@the_new_tamra I'm still pre op, just like you! Surgery date is January 15. I've just read and re-read these boards and every other bariatric info site I can find. -
January RNY Surgery
ThreeCrows replied to MBM1Forever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@the_new_tamra It sounds like you have some research to do. And that's OK, you have plenty of time to do it. My surgeon hasn't told me nearly as much as I have learned from reading these boards. I can tell you that I chose the RNY because it has better long term weight loss outcomes for people as large as I am. I don't want to go through another surgery because I failed this one. But having this surgery is a lifelong commitment to a new lifestyle. Vitamins, many say no caffeine, alcohol, smaller portions, healthier eating. Many of the worst possible side effects (like hair loss) can be prevented or moderated by following instructions and commitment to a new way of life. The payoff is big! --Kay -
That's pretty cool. I hope none of us end up like he did, though. No slash attacks here! Just beautiful faces. --Kay

I don't meet with the nutritionist until pre-op, and my only pre-diet is clear liquids the day before surgery. -

@Dolce_xxv@jblkmom I just posted a new topic, but the not drinking while eating thing is one of my big fears. I tried today at lunch... Ended up guzzling a glass of Water halfway through the meal. @@MisforMimi Welcome to the January 15 club! Almost t-minus one month now! -

Hello, all! I'm scheduled for surgery, gastric bypass, on January 15. Nothing left to do until my pre-op testing day on January 5. My home is in Williamsburg, VA. I'm hoping to meet some folks here to share this journey with.
